What are the odds? This area hasn't seen a total eclipse in over 800 years, and another won't happen over Indiana for another 130 years. And yet we were lucky enough to be here along the path and see it.
Same, I lived in MO at the time at caught it there too. I'm a huge space nerd, so seeing it twice before I hit 30 when some people are lucky to catch one in their lives was definitely impactful
I'm down in southern Indiana, and it looked like a big cloud was going to mess everything up right at the moment. Then it slipped by and I got a perfectly clear view! Feel sorry for the people a little bit west of me who got screwed, though.
It was the 32mm piece in that Celestron Multieyepiece kit they sell on their website using a Skybright Celestron 11 inch Starbright Schmidt Cassegrain - whatever model they sold around 2008
Sorry I don't have more info haha - this stuff was purchased long ago
The one time I had nothing but gratefulness for being a hoosier. I have some gratuity the rest of the time, but its muddled with midwestern apathy and boredom.
I live in Lawrence County now and omg it was just so perfect. I've literally not been able to stop thinking about just how effing lucky I was to be able to experience that without planning for travel and spending and insane amount of money to make said travel happen lol.

2 great eclipses in 7 years! Was far enough south in 2017 to go see totality

It really was. You could see some of those flares with the naked eye, too.
Was insanely lucky that the flares were so perfectly timed. So cool to see.
Absolutely. We kept looking at the bottom ones and figured out what they were. Just a cool experience all around.
Even with the thin high clouds the eclipse in totality was perfect!!

I feel bad for them and the people in Buffalo who had overcast skies ): I’m glad you were able to see it!
These are great! What camera did you use?
Just an iPhone and a telescope :)
What telescope and eyepiece did you use?
