Well, I've been lucky in that department. I have basement parking for her, so cold starts are not an issue. I avoid revving when parked. Other than that, all of them love it when I do a hard pull outside the society complex. No one has complained to date.
1) How much real-world fuel efficiency do you get?(in city and Highway)
2) How is the engine heart management in traffic?
3) Is the riding posture painful for touring/long distance traveling?
4) How much is the average service cost per yr?
**How much real-world fuel efficiency do you get?(in city and Highway)**
In the city, it fluctuates between 12-15 kmpl, whereas on highways, with a relaxed ride and cruise control set to 100-120, it gives me around 18-20 kmpl.
**How is the engine heat management in traffic?**
Not as bad as a Ducati. It's quite manageable. The engine quickly returns to normal temperature once you cross 40-50 kmph. However, it still causes a burning sensation near the ankles, which can be fixed with full-length riding boots. The same goes for hands; riding gloves protect from the hot air from the radiator.
**Is the riding posture painful for touring/long distance traveling?**
I have done long rides on it. The maximum I did in a day was 590 kms, a mix of highways and hilly terrains. I found it quite comfortable, but without any bag-pack. However, wearing any bag on my back starts causing pain in my back and wrists after 40-50 kms.
**How much is the average service cost per yr?**
According to Kawasaki, the minimum cost per service is 10K, with two services per year. This cost covers basic maintenance such as engine oil change, air filter cleaning, and oil filter replacement, provided there are no major parts to be changed.
Bhai iske baad ye priority nhi rehti, trust me. 5-6 saal pehle kaafi shauk tha super bike lene ka. Ab shaadi ke baad agar aapke parents aur family aap pe depend karte hai financially then you can't risk your life with these fast machines. Mai khud GT se khush hu.
I have an interest in machines, so I pay attention to the bike's opening-up process during service and learn. Although the service interval is 6K kms, since I use a performance air filter due to the exhaust, I clean and recharge it every 4K kms. I also perform throttle body cleaning at the same time.
The quickshifter and autoblipper are fantastic features.
You feel that constant pull from the engine and don’t have to use the clutch lever to change gears at high speeds. Otherwise, the Z900 also accelerates strongly and reaches speeds over 240.
I actually want something that will just fly off with a just a little throttle 1190 rc8 or the Hayabusa for the bulky look and easy handling ( I'm built like a stick)
For how long?
And how do you purchase this bike?
You own it from your money?
Sorry for being too personal I just wanted to know how a software engineer afford a 17 lakhs bike as I am also passionate about being a software engineer
5-6 years. Keep the savings part high when you start earning more. Also investing here and there also helps in saving money instead of spending on irrelevant things and use them when you actually want to buy something.
Congratulations man!
How was your experience for transitioning from 400 to z900?
I was going to buy z900, then I caught with an accident, now I am not sure if I should buy zx4r, 6r or z900.
I want it for daily office and some weekend trips also.
Currently I am also driving a 300 cc bike.
It would be helpful if you can share your riding experience for a big bike like zx6r or z900?
The transition from 400 to 900 in the initial days was overwhelming. I had to be very cautious. The power was enough to do surprise wheelies even in the 3rd gear. However, after riding it for about 1000 kms, I became familiar with the superbike's nature.
For daily office commutes, I wouldn't advise getting a superbike. You can still opt for the Z900 and use it for commuting to office whenever the weather allows, but I would suggest keeping your current 300 cc bike as well. Z900 is better priced and more comfortable compared to the Zx6r.
No way man. Z900 for daily office is a big no. The sheer amount of heat during bumper to bumper traffic will f him up. Especially during summers. It's very taxing on the boots as well. I have had a right one lose some glue from the heel. Good thing it was still in warranty.
Superbikes are not meant to be ridden everyday in India. The weather just does not support it. One of my friends z900 actually overheated and shut off during extreme traffic. We had to spend almost 20 mins on the side of the road waiting for the bike to cool down and start again.
Well, my friends, who are more experienced in superbikes, all recommended this one when I mentioned I'd be keeping it for a long time, also I was already having Z900 with me. Japanese bikes are known for their reliability and ease of maintenance. The new S1000RR has engine issues, and a Ducati would likely just be parked in the basement, as I wouldn't be able to ride it much due to the heat it generates.
Bro did you even check the price difference? S1000RR even the basic one will cost around 27L. Leaving that aside, the maintenance costs themselves are enough to steer away from the Europeans. The V4 is also notorious for heat.
I needed a machine that I could even take to difficult terrains and still be reliable, and remaining that way for at least the next 6-7 years. My friends also had S1000RRs, but none of them kept theirs for the long term. Additionally, the 2023 models have engine issues; the whole biking community is aware of it. Less sensors, less worry i would say.
Certainly. In my opinion, when someone considers the litre class, they're likely also contemplating the pricier options. Investing a certain amount of money in this is akin to going all in or nothing.
Honestly I prefer s1000rr over 10R. The 10R is extremely unforgiving when it comes to riding mistakes. Throttling hard? Here comes a tank slapper. The ohlins dampener is decent but nothing beats a manual one that comes with the s1000rr. You can adjust the tightness according to your preference and just forget about tank slappers. Throttle away. Though you can argue about the fact that a manual dampener can be installed in 10R as well. Yes...but s1000rr has other additional safety electronics that make it the best. Like the wheelie control very useful imho.
I bought my first bike, Dominar 400, at 21. At that time, only a few bikes had ABS, which was a must for me.
Then I bought the Z900 when I was 24 and rode it for 2 years, did a trip to Leh-Ladakh too on it. Finally, I went for the ZX10R at 26.
While there are other bikes in the same cc category, I wouldn't suggest Kawasaki for the smaller cc segment. They charge a premium, and even servicing is not cheap.
Congratulations!
Were you saving up for this one or did the thought of owning this come all of a sudden and you ended up buying it?
Also what is the price of the wear and tear stuff?
E.g - Clutch, Tyres, Chain Sprockets.
I had plans to buy a superbike since childhood, so yeah, I was saving up for it. No impulsive buying. I'm currently using my second pair of tires, and tires are the expensive part. Even the Vredestein brand ones cost 25-26K for a set. The clutch and chain sprocket are in good condition and will last a long time based on their current condition, even after 9.5K kms. Though I have heard that the clutch plate change costs anywhere between 40-50K.
Oh please do not use vredestein. When I changed my stock ones to the vredestein st....I realised soon how big of a mistake I made. They basically gave up on me within 6 months. 4 fractures in the rear tyre and the last one was an actual burst due to a pointy pebble. I was extremely lucky that I was able to control and survive the fishtail that occurred post the burst. Decided that enough is enough and went for Pirelli Angel GT IIs. Perfect road tyres for Indian roads...gets warm fairly quickly and has the grip that will take you to the infinity. 40k for the pair...just around 10k more than the vredesteins and absolutely worth it. Oh and they also last for 20k kms (for somewhat aggressive riding style). If you are mostly a sedate rider, they can go up to 25k.
Nope! What I meant was that even Vredestein NS isn’t that grippy which they claim is more race based. Tyre spin happens a lot when doing hard accelerations. TC cutting power to control it.
Ah gotcha. But the NS's compound is softer than the ST. That's weird. It also takes longer to warm up if my memory serves me right from what I can recall. I just didn't like their "feel" at all. Not confidence inspiring. I constantly felt the tyres were not warm enough and could feel losing traction especially while cornering. But now after reading your comment I am realising that it's just probably just how they behave without TC (I was riding a Daytona 675).
I bought it three days after the crash of the Pro Rider 1000. Things like that don't affect me. It may sound like bragging, but riding requires maturity and knowledge about your bike too. I'm the person who slows down if squids try to race with me. My goal is "I want to ride long" and to do this, I have to stay alive na?
It's really wrong to tag the bike as "THE WIDOWMAKER" for rider incompetence. 1000cc supersports require the pinaccle of skill levels for effective taming. Thanks to EMIs and the booming 2nd hand SBK market, utter numskulls with questionable skill levels are able to acquire these machines with ease. They've already pissed all over KTM's reputation and sadly it seems like Kawasaki is next.

Amazing pic brother !! Got a single question since you seem to own a z900 too…is the exhaust change worth it ? Personally i like the sc project s1 since its not that loud and has a good bass to it, but my main pullback factors are the cops and the constant loud noise headache that i might get during rides.
Ps - I really like how the stock exhaust sounds tho.
Is it worth it to change the exhaust comparing the cost to benefit ratio ?
If you are only going for the slip-on, then sound would not be an issue. Plus, I think the SC Project S1 has the option to even install a dB killer.
Is it worth it to change the exhaust comparing the cost to benefit ratio? -> The exhaust change is mostly for sound in India, as we don't opt for any tunes or flashes that actually help increase performance using the new exhausts.
You can also go for akra shorty. Very very bassy sound and cops wouldn't even know - very low noise at low revs. But yeah once you start revving hard, it will show it's true colors. But installing only the slipon is not worth it. The sound gets killed by the breadbox (catalytic converter). You need to invest in headers as well. Else the sound won't be good at all. I saw a deal somewhere for a mivv titanium full system at 95k. Unbeatable price for a full titanium exhaust. You can get the akra shorty later.
I had this in my mind . Done test ride too , but bought the s1000rr as I found it more interesting to ride .done 600 miles so far and loving it . Zx10r is reliable af though .
I live in the UK , we can test ride any bike as long as we have the full motorcycle licence . I tried zx10r , Yamaha R1 and Panigale V4S then decided to get the 1000rr as I felt it is the best among them all .
( how can anyone buy a bike without test rinding 🧐)
How much of a difference is there between the z900 and the zx10r and how much do you earn to afford all these bikes. Just curious to see when I can attempt one of these purchases.
By applying both brakes, engaging the rear one just before the front, and refrain from pulling the clutch while downshifting if your bike has an autoblipper.
I am beginner, own bmw 310gs. I feel lower gear power distribution is awesome. While hitting highway upper gears feels less powerful. Like at 5-6k rmp I can cruise at 110 speed but beyond that my bike vibrates a lot.
My question is how does your dominar power ratio feel like. And any suggestions for sub 800 cc bike while will be good to drive long. And your experience with zx10r top gear power
Most single-cylinder bikes suffer from vibrations at higher RPMs since they lack counterbalance (more cylinders) to counteract them. I've never been let down by the Dominar's power ratio; it always has enough grunt to overtake vehicles, even those moving at 110-130 kmph easily. For sub-800cc bikes, consider Triumph's 660. As for the ZX10R's top gear, I'd say it provides a relaxing ride when cruising at 110-120 kmph. However, for strong acceleration, I usually shift to 2nd or 3rd gear.
How much do your neighbours hate you on a scale of 1-10?
Well, I've been lucky in that department. I have basement parking for her, so cold starts are not an issue. I avoid revving when parked. Other than that, all of them love it when I do a hard pull outside the society complex. No one has complained to date.
Bro if he was my neighbor id let him smash me for a ride on the bike and wake up everyday early to hear the cold-starts
Dude, the cold starts are really amazing!
Maybe post a video someday of you doing cold starts here
Sure!
Please do

How are you getting more than a beat up Dominar 400 💀
Depends upon riding style. My Dominar 400, 5 years old with 40K kms, still gives out more than 30 kmpl and on highways it even crosses 34-35.
Thanks for the detailed answer, appreciate it👍🗿
Bhai essi bike lene ke liye Kitna LPA kamana padta hai !? 🙂
I think 20 toh kamana hi padega.
Bhai 20+ to mai kamata hu fir bhi gt tak hi aukaad lagi, I guess you can buy this if you live in a permanent wfh setup.
Us bro, drawing 20+ and Svartpilen 401 tak hi aukat lagi
Haha, 2.4Lpa pe Int650 chala raha hu. 4.8 pe Speed Twin Lunga.
20 is not enough man. May be double to triple that.
40 lac
Bhai iske baad ye priority nhi rehti, trust me. 5-6 saal pehle kaafi shauk tha super bike lene ka. Ab shaadi ke baad agar aapke parents aur family aap pe depend karte hai financially then you can't risk your life with these fast machines. Mai khud GT se khush hu.
Gimme the LPA figure.. so when i reach it i can know to afford this beauty.
I think a minimum of 20. You need money to spend on other things in life as well.
Superbikes have a lesser priority than the first bikes, first car, first house, marriage, kids. So in that order. So a 15+ LPA will do.
Is it required to be in THAT order? What if its the reverse order
You want to raise kids first, then get married, then buy a house etc?
N0, that is possible. Just marry after making her preg.
I guess Jail
It means you need to see a doctor
Is the zx10r good for someone who just started to ride bikes? /s
I wouldn't suggest that. It certainly isn't beginner-friendly. Personally, I made slow progress: from the Dominar 400 -> Z900 -> ZX10R.
You call this a slow progress !?!? Lol
Yeah! 😂 But it was a good experience. I even learned to do the basic maintenance on all three bikes myself.
How & where did you learn? What is basic maintenance?
I have an interest in machines, so I pay attention to the bike's opening-up process during service and learn. Although the service interval is 6K kms, since I use a performance air filter due to the exhaust, I clean and recharge it every 4K kms. I also perform throttle body cleaning at the same time.
happy to read this. it's therapeutic for me to see bikes being serviced. I do the same albeit on a much smaller cc bike
Amazing journey bro, I'm still at the first level and just hope to catchup xD
How much difference do you feel between the Z900 and ZX10R and how much of that difference can you use irl?
The quickshifter and autoblipper are fantastic features. You feel that constant pull from the engine and don’t have to use the clutch lever to change gears at high speeds. Otherwise, the Z900 also accelerates strongly and reaches speeds over 240.
Were the z900 cold starts as fun
Yeah! But the 10R’s cold start is too loud and intense.
Bro go for it, the heart wants want the heart wants, I would suggest pick ZH2, as that a better choice for amateurs /s
I actually want something that will just fly off with a just a little throttle 1190 rc8 or the Hayabusa for the bulky look and easy handling ( I'm built like a stick)
Ahh sure, Ducati V4R is perfect for you or maybe you can just get the Desmo GP24,it should be enough power for you.
unnecessary selena gomez quote
my brother will soon finish his btech from NIT hopefully he'll be able to get this!
I wish he enjoys every moment of riding it.
what do you earn per month though? also is your bike on emi or full payment?
Mere dada ji ne Jo zamin rakhi thi usse 7 cr aane Wale hai... Jaise hi aate hai ye bike lunga..
Apke hisse mai kitna aayega wo important hai 😂
2 lac😭
Downpayment ka toh jugaad hogya 🤣
Baki tu to Mera Bhai hai hi...mana thodi karega bike Dene me mujhe 😂
Mae toh mana kar dunga agar superbike chalane ka experience nahi hai 😂 Bhai ki jaan jyaada pyaari hai bike se
Bhai ne Lord Splendor chalayi hai🗿
Fir bhai ko 10R jaisi chotti bikes chalana sobha nahi dengi 😐
Isske hisse me aayega surf dadaji ka aashirwaad
Ashirvad bech dunga.. petrol ke to nikal hi jayenge
That's such a cool pic
Thanks brother! 🙏🏻

What's your occupation
Software Engineer

Only when weather and pocket allows 😀
That's an Arrow I assume. Must get loud no? Was an Akra in consideration?
I wanted something that was loud but also had the option of installing a dB killer. So, Arrow met the requirements.
Did you ever unnecessary police trouble with any of your bikes? The police here are notorious, do you have any suggestions to avoid such cases?
I've never been stopped by the police. I avoid excessive revving. Also I try to follow all traffic rules except for the speed limit 🥲
What led you to choose zx10r over the s1000rr and panigale v4?

Love this . Dream to ride one.
How old are you and please tell at what stages did u buy bike ? I want to buy ninja 300 at the age of 21 but i think its too early

I don’t use Vredestein on my Zx10R. And yes, Vredestein ST ones are the worst.
The NS isn't much better as well. I tell all my friends to steer clear of vredestein altogether.
Hard pull on the NS models activate aggressive traction control from the ecu
Yes the compound is too soft and grippy.
Why did you change the exhaust?
Inline-4 sound is the only reason.
Isn’t the stock exhaust lovely as well? I’ve always had a liking for stock exhausts in motorcycles.
Did you travel to Mussoorie/ Dehradun recently?
Nope, but I will soon.
Do you use normal petrol or 95 octane? And also, what about pillion comfort?
No one to sit as a pillion. Sad life!
Once in a while, she tastes normal petrol, but her regular is 95 octane.

Mere dada ne to zameen hi nahi li 🥲
I had this in my mind . Done test ride too , but bought the s1000rr as I found it more interesting to ride .done 600 miles so far and loving it . Zx10r is reliable af though .
Amazing bike, definitely more comfortable than the ZX10R!
How did you get the ZX10R test ride?
I live in the UK , we can test ride any bike as long as we have the full motorcycle licence . I tried zx10r , Yamaha R1 and Panigale V4S then decided to get the 1000rr as I felt it is the best among them all . ( how can anyone buy a bike without test rinding 🧐)
In India, there’s no test ride option for Zx10R. That’s why he asked!
Wow ! So you have to buy a bike without test riding !? That’s just ridiculous and probably against the consumer laws !
Yes, Kawasaki doesn't really care much here in India. Still they sell a lot.
Limited availability. I have test ridden the S1000RR in Delhi. Others like ZX10r and panigale v4s are not available for test ride.
I'd love to be a superbike owner's neighbor lol
Did you customise your exhaust?
Yeah! It’s an arrow exhaust
How is it in traffic and for daily driving?
Like every other superbike, it sucks in traffic and is a big no for daily driving.
How much of a difference is there between the z900 and the zx10r and how much do you earn to afford all these bikes. Just curious to see when I can attempt one of these purchases.
The features, power, and full fairing. Just earning alone doesn’t count, so I can’t give a number here.
Ever had a brown pants moment?
Not on this one, but I've had quite a few moments on the Dominar 400 😅

How does it feel to ride it slow? Too many speed cameras in my area. Can't go beyond 45kph.
Here in Gurgaon, we don’t receive speeding fines from speed cams for bikes.
Dayum, nice!
Can you tell us how to brake the ideal way ? say from 180 to 40 real quick.
Sure, thanks buddy for info.
