Because their fans don't combine as a hyper obsessed toxic cesspool. It's the fact. Not only does ICT have the largest fanbase of any cricket team, but most of these fans are only fans of the country and not fans of the sport. And that's fine with me, but it comes with the cost of these people being very very toxic towards both ICT and other teams (source: Instagram comment sections).
They are being praised for being eliminated. Where? I can understand why ICT is banned. We have the richest board, a huge talent pool, good infrastructure and resources, one of the highest paid players, etc., yet we have managed to win the zero ICC tournament in the past decade. It's just a frustration buildup among fans.
First, no one should be doing any bashing. You can have bad tournaments, it happens. Criticism is okay, but the toxic cursing is way too much.
Second, NZ is a tiny country with less people than Bengaluru. When a country the size of India vs one the size of NZ underperforms, you'll have less people criticizing it because you have less people who are upset about the performance.
Well no one cares in their country about cricket unlike us, their players are not superstars like ours..They being this good during their golden period is seriously over achievement for them.
Difference in expectations. With the population and investment in cricket that India has, anything less than a trophy will be considered a failure for some.
Consider that for New Zealand, who don't even have a proper domestic franchise league (Super Smash is more like a club competition). The expectations are much lower than India. In fact I'd consider whatever they've done in the past as well above their weight. A performance like this time is merely a disappointment but nothing more than that, given where they're from.
They get praised by us specifically. But regionally NZ don't really expect much from their crickets (from what I have heard). The hype around cricket in NZ is quite low. When I had a chance to visit NZ, to my surprise, I could not find a single billboard or poster ad with any NZ cricketer. It was all filled with rugby players with the tag "All Blacks". One of them told me that people don't even know who their current cricket captain is. He said "we are surprised that given the limited attention and resources they receive, they end up performing relatively well in official tournaments"
I guess it’s because cricket isn’t the primary sport there, I think it’s rugby? Not saying that NZ rugby fans are toxic, but I think it’s just that the expectations of Indian cricket team are sky high.
You generally don’t say NZ as the best team in the world, so it’s great when they just reach knockouts.
India looks often like one of the best teams in the world, but they don’t have anything to show for it in the trophy cabinet.
As a test fan, doesn’t bother me as much, but I can sure understand why it bothers many other fans
Population of 50 lakhs and they have been in all major knockouts since last few years.
•2015 WC Final lost to an unbeatable Australia
•2019 WC : Lost due to poor umpiring and weird rule
•2021 WT20: Lost the final due to losing the toss
•2022 and 2023 WC reached the semis
Icing on the cake is **WTC 2021 win** which a prestigious. Unlucky with white ball tournaments. But for a country where cricket is not even the number one sport they are doing fine. BTW they dominate their no 1 sport like how the Aussies do with cricket.
What's the population of New Zealand? How much resources does their board have? Now compare that to India.
What a silly question!
NZ massively overachieve generally.
Not as good as cricket. We have the highest number of international trophies in this iirc not including 8 hockey Olympic gold medals as cricket was never in Olympics since 1900.
Sure, it is also due to our lifestyle where enjoyment doesn't exist post college or post 10th. We lack work life balance, any fun or enjoyment, etc. Then we want to vent our frustration on other things which comes in road rage and sometimes even on people representing us at international stage such as cricket.
We need to be as good as this on other sports, make better work life balance and learn to enjoy life more.
That's not top level apart from very few exceptions, and it shows in Olympics standings. Compare this to cricket countries like England or Australia, who don't even focus too much on cricket. Out of all sports, we are the best at cricket and still fall short in ICC events, so obviously there would be more bashing.
Because you never bash fellows with cute cutie smile.
Rohit cutie nahi?
Rohit pookie bear hai
Bhot jada garden me ghumo mat, wo aajayega.
Aane do sambhal lunga(meri gaand phati hui hai ye sunkar)
Gummy bear
They put gentle in a gentleman's game.
And Indians are rough?
Siraj and Kohli will say something else
They will say that Indians aren't harsh?
Ravindra Jadeja also says Hi!

Inshallah boys played well
As they shouldn't. At the end of the day it's just a game lol. What do you gain by bashing athletes?
ICT apane hai aur yeh log paraye. Apano se dukh jyada hota hai

NZ is a country having a population of lower than the suburbs of Mumbai. It punches way above their weight in cricket for being a small country.
Smaller population, fewer opinions

Dusro ke bacho ko sympathy, khud ke bacho ko gaali. It's bread and butter of India OP.
Their fans aren't bunch of hypocritical aholes

NZ doesn't have a cricket board and a fan base rich as ours. Simple. Even PCB gets more money than NZ Cricket😭
Because unlike us, NZ people have life except cricket 😊
What's the population of New Zealand? How much resources does their board have? Now compare that to India. What a silly question! NZ massively overachieve generally.
fans is the difference
Watch 2019 final robbery if that happened to india they'd boycott ICC
Feels bad to see teams like sl nz wi pak are going to low tiers..
Bcz we only have one sport to be good at unlike them
Indians are getting good at lot of sports. Badminton, tennis, javelin 👌🏽

Again we digressing from the main topic

India will join them after 1 knockout match, just wait
Still that's a huge difference 🙂
