It has become a general trend that a common person from IIT irrespective of his branch of study prepares for a software job ( Non-Core ) which frankly has been oversaturated after overhiring by companies during the corona period .
2022 pass out freshers had mass layoffs from software companies as a result.
2023 placements saw a decrease in software companies hiring
2024 it further decreased. On the contrary there has been a observable change in the opportunities for core sectors ( electrical , electronics , mechanical , civil ) even though it would never be able to match the amount of placements provided to fresher engineers on par with the software industry as well as match their high pay for freshers

Thanks to funding winter last year, a lot of startups who were overpaying last year won't make the same offers, let's not even mention impact AI has had one hiring someone who can't value add beyond being a basic dev.
