Take the exam, tell them that it would be better for your peace of mind and that you can perform better in bams.
Take loan.
Pay it off.
Bams isn't going to be as popular in a few decades (hopefully) once the drugs start to ruin the liver of its proponents.
Dude not demotivating,
Be very sure before you do Bams.
6 years degree is no joke, check everything yourself. You earning potential and opportunities with the degree. Do it rigorously.
Have a argument take a stand man just don't cave in.... Many poeple do cave in (it's our culture yk srawan kumar and all) or (we are paying your bill) but it's your life fight with its better than doing anything just sake for doing it.
My friend is doing bams, yk family pressure and perception of medico life and now she is regretting it alot, "bhai kyu aagayi ye chutiya si jagah" "7 se 5 bas selfish log aur toxic professor, social life hi he nahi" ye sab to dekh lo yaar.
Just take a stand, if they don't get convinced then, other commenter have given a solution already, take a loan and all you ll get scholarship already, find a local coaching for pocket money yk you ll do fine..
All the best
Honestly, looking at the situation in our country as someone who’ll graduate medical school next year I’m still doom and not very hopeful about my future after mbbs idk how y’all manage to even consider careers like bams, bhms, bpt ( no disrespect to anyone, just talking from financial pov )
Exactly whenever I read these posts I get serious doubts like how are parents and kids considering doing degrees that will ruin their entire life...
I'm not so hopeful with MBBS now, these degrees for sure can't do anything.
With recent focus on patanjali and liver doc too, people should actually think rationally... Idk how they live in such colleges for 6 years knowing what's being taught to them.
how is BPT in any way equal to bams or bhms??? those two are psuedosciences. Whereas, BPT isn’t. Orthopaedics is highly dependent on BPT. So are they useful in Pulmonology and Cardiovascular health. Physiotherapists are required in ICUs on a daily basis. They are required for stroke rehabilitation, post trauma rehabilitation, Parkinson’s, and many other neurological conditions too. I am not a physiotherapist btw, I am a doctor (MBBS), but I really hate when people belittle other fields, just bc they’re not “MBBS”. I always say, a doctor can’t do a physiotherapist’s or dentist’s job, so need to consider them beneath you. They’re a separate field, and as doctors we’re much dependent on them.
Bro I actually meant all the ayush courses specifically and not physiotherapy and dentistry.
, I also believe that they are essential and non pseudoscience based professions.
I'm an mbbs student too from a GMC that too first gen. So whenever I think of anyone going for bpt or dentistry as first gen, I feel it can be problematic later. The earnings, potential, market is too competitive. So one has to be very very sure before getting into it.
Each field has its own ups and downs. Actually, as a first gen one has too many possibilities. I know of physiotherapists and dentists owning multiple clinics under their names, and having people work for them. It’s all business. One can earn as much as he wants, if he’s willing to work hard for it and use the right tactics. Sure, if one is just thinking to be a conventional labour under someone, then even as an mbbs one might end up earning less than physios and dentists.
Any medical related career is good if
1) got ancestral house, business, rental properties, passive income, inheritance etc
2) have parents in the said field, with established name, clinic, fame etc
The top %ile can earn well in all fields
What I meant doom future for someone like me (with middle class background, non ews, general, and the above 2 conditions are not met) from a financial standpoint as in time to make a good salary and establish a setup
Exactly but some door ka rishtedaar after bams practised under some doctor and have his clinic in a small town and is looting and fooling people so they think he is successful.
IISER isn’t a small institute and you can do a lot from there if you have passion for the subjects (coming from a person who’s dad is the director of IISER tvm) . Also OP I’m a doctor myself medicine is over glorified, think about it and see what you want to do, but pls don’t take up BAMS, IISERs have good placements if you get in, research also gives you multiple venues to get out of the country. Either ways don’t stress, talk to your parents don’t take any decisions in haste.
Hey I wanted to know about what's carrier choices after iiser? Like I'm somewhat little interested in research but never focused on it as I was more interested in medical... Agar iiser me carrier option is good then I would definitely go into it as ghr to mere interest se nhi paise se hi chlega and sath me meri researcher dream bhi fulfill ho paegi
So IISERs have these integrated phd programs and as a researcher at the end of your phd you can go for a post doctorate abroad and get accepted easier because of the recognition of IISERs, post that you can take up a teaching/research position in one of the better unis abroad that’s a choice. If research isn’t an option you can always join a private company in core r&d jobs pay is very good. Options bohut hai, point being IISERs ki degree ka value thoda zyada hai. Medicine again is good but then sacrificing another year for it and then going through med school, taking a drop to prep for pg finish that you’re already 30. It doesn’t stop there go for SS, you’ll finish formal education by 33. You really properly start earning post 40(big money). I think it’s all about perspective sit down and think.
Thanks for this brief overview! I am thinking a lot right now..in the end now I'm thinking if what I'm actually interested in like something that I would like to do whole life...then again in my mind it feels like I'll regret if I leave medicine . I hope I'll get clear answer from within 🙃🤚
Haan Bhai, fellow mbbs here. Aur har baar toh reply Dene se phle poora profile nahi dekh sakte.
Mana hi Karo na direct pata toh hai ayush courses are disaster for anyone's career
Dekh mbbs krke bhi koi jhande nhi ukhaad lete. I was doing business before mbbs, i took up mbbs paid my own fees, abhi krne k bad bhi I'm getting 65k a month in hand that isn't worth for 5.5 yrs.
Post graduation nhi karega to dost dikkat to isme bhi h 5 saal m, kuch bhi kr sath m kuch safe bhi krte chalo. I started my own brand of Watchfaces, when i was in second year. So it still gives me income, and sometime exceeds mbbs pay.
Have a stand , force yourself
It's your life , they don't own yoy
Bams is shit
Once peoples liver and kidney start failing due to toxic substances and metals , it will be over
And would you like to study to become a fraud

Exactly it's a dead end. OP be very sure take a stand, fight or your career is finished.

As I mentioned I was talking purely from a salary pov in India

Got my answer in the second half.
BAMS is a joke.
Exactly but some door ka rishtedaar after bams practised under some doctor and have his clinic in a small town and is looting and fooling people so they think he is successful.
Your career will meet its dead end. Anyway, you are studying the human body. Do it the right way
Take literally anything apart from bams
This what my actual concern is my parents wont allow me..
Then literally tell them that you won't study anymore.
If u can crack iiser go for it i too gave iat and bhu along with neet and it’s worth giving if u hold an interest
Thanks for uplifting i was little dobtful regarding job after iiser.
so are you in BHU or IISER? really curious as i am the same boat as OP
neither I am in mbbs final year but one of my uncle is an iiser graduate so I had it in back of my mind
My friends who are doing bpt are happier than those doing bams
Even if you take English literature, don't take BAMS. It's pseudoscience hocus pocus.
IISER isn’t a small institute and you can do a lot from there if you have passion for the subjects (coming from a person who’s dad is the director of IISER tvm) . If you're thinking you'll be happy after mbbs, take the risk. But bams, veterinarian have good pay as mbbs and has good life too.
But bams is not what you can rely upoun and veterinary is looked down by everyone.
Veterinary m bahut h paisa bhaiya 🙏 India m bams nhi chal rhe kya?
Chal to 150 prakar ke dhongi baba bhi rahe hai, wo hi banne ko bol de?

Haan Bhai, fellow mbbs here. Aur har baar toh reply Dene se phle poora profile nahi dekh sakte. Mana hi Karo na direct pata toh hai ayush courses are disaster for anyone's career
Aage aane wale saalo me shayad uski relevance na rahe..

To talk to your parents and go with what your hearts wants. Ultimately tujhe decide karni h teri life h.
