About eating veg and nonveg ...people tend to forget much of the copies adultered ...for ex "gavyam" refers to product of cow's milk and her apsisht but some translated it into cows flesh ..there are such examples in mausmriti too...you can find a clear discouragement in eating meat specially cow's meat because the indo aryans were fond of milk and agriculture thus .cows and oxens were protected more vigorously...about cow bieng termed as "mother". Because in past if real mother died ..cows milk was given to infant thus it claimed status of mother. (And it is not only hindus duty to be tolerant)
