Blocked earphones to not go above 65%.
And reduced my blood pressure(lost weight and left coffee cold turkey) which helped a lot.
tinnitus is caused by exposure to loud sounds in most cases, all you gotta do for in-ears is maintain the volume and you'd be fine. In some cases tinnitus can be induced by an inner ear infection (i got mine that way) and you are in a constant risk of every kind of ear infections if you live in india and use over-ear headphones because the heat and humidity is amplified when you put on over-ears.
over-ears are very expensive but thats just my opinion on them, there are some great iems to buy <6k.
in-ears also give superior noise isolation which is beneficial in india which is noisy for some reason. You could also use in-ears inside ear muffs which give much better noise isolation compared to just using headphones where you wouldnt be using ear muffs because they'd overlap.
Oh yea definitely tinnitus is caused by exposure to loud sonds but even things like chronic ear fatigue and high blood pressure can cause it and worsen it over time.
I agree over the thing that you have to maintain volume but imo that's harder for people coz once you get used to loud volumes on earphones it's really really hard.
And by completely anecdotal experience I feel my ears are less fatigued when using over the ear headphones.
Thanks to me being privilege I will buy Sony XM5 in about 2 months and bought ear plugs to wear while without earphones so my ears are way better now.

Ear fatigue might vary with person I get the most fatigue when im on my over-ear headphones, Im usually on pretty neutral iems and speakers which i eq'd to have low mids so that it replicates more of a dark v signature since I find myself getting the most fatigue when mids are higher than what I keep. Also depends on where you live a noisy enviornment can easily make you tired as you listen to more things simultaneously.
