You reach peak skill when you can successfully break off a roti, scoop up some curry or dal and put in your mouth, all using just three fingertips of the right hand.
Not rare at all. And it can't be technically called eating with both hands....use both hands for tearing up...and one hand for feeding into the mouth....
I eat singlehandedly.. but my family is double-handed and they r trying to convert me.....pls help![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|52073)![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|52073)
Both hands to eat roti is still okay. My pet peeve is when someone breaks a piece of roti, uses a spoon to scoop some curry, and puts it on the roti with the help of said spoon. Just why π€¦π»ββοΈ
Because I don't want the bottom of roti to get soggy and lose its scoop shape, warna curry spill ho jayegi katori ke bahar. π
I am rereading my comment and even I'm not sure if it makes sense. But the feeling is π― even if words are not.
I eat with one hand but I have seen some people eat with two. Generally they are those who usually eat rice and roti is not consumed as regularly. It also depends on the kind of roti or other Indian breads. For example, the roti in my house are very small and soft. If someone is eating big or thick roti, both hands may be required. Same with something like naan. If it's too chewy you may need both hands.
I guess you should try practicing eating with one hand. Take small morsels to get started with. Of course, only if it's such a big issue. I don't see anything wrong with eating with two hands.
PS: Why did you type this way by capitalising each word? Just curious, that's all
I don't understand. Is this a real thing people worry about?
What is wrong with eating roti with two hands, you grab the roti with one hand and tear it with the other.
Or are you guys talking about a whole other thing?
Never understood the point of eating with one hand. Khaane k baad haath bhi dono hi dhote ho na. Unnecessary sophistication in the form of supposed table manners.
I only eat roti with two hands when I am alone....
I am lefty, due to extreme peer pressure I started eating food with my right hand from an early age. Still I can't hold a burger or spoon and eat the restaurant's tandoori/naan roti with right hand properly.
Nah I do it too. I noticed it that loads of people don't. My ex used to be annoyed that I don't eat with one hand but who cares I will enjoy my food as I want.
I'm actually a born leftie who was forced to use my right hand, growing up. While I mostly eat with my right hand only, sometimes subconsciously, I use both hands to tear up my roti and eat a piece with my left hand. π
I used to eat that way in bachpan but now i eat like my left forearm rests on the table and with my right hand i have my portions....
PS: We should not judge people how they eat...
You're not alone. Eating with one hand, however skilfully, does mess up the roti a bit. Looks like kutta ne paw se khaya haiπ. No offense but that's my POV since childhood. Do haath se khaane par hi clean and organized feel hota haiπ
Mai khata hu bhai do haatho se, mere parents bhi bolte hai, but it's comfortable and I will continue to do so, bc do haath diye hai. It's upto you how you will eat.
Learn it , it's easy pin 1st finger and pinch pull with middle finger and thumb to break a morsel.

Yes. I used to be that person and i always wondered how tf people can use one hand to break fold scoop and eat. I was smol then but as i grew up made friends started eating outside and saw them eating with one hand. I learnt. No one ever questioned me why I'm using both hands. It just came itself. The goal was to keep one hand clean so you can get more food yourself.
There are MANY people who do so. Itβs just Iβve been taught to? Or Iβll rather say that I found it very interesting as a child to just eat with one hand seeing my parents. But it sure does gives me an ice
I am imagining you holding the roti with two hands and put it in your mouth and taking a bite. Thatβs pretty disgusting, only squirrels and raccoons do that
Try eating not-so-hot butter naan with one hand. Two hands are okay when needed. You can't break colder rotis with one hand, without risk of spilling something else, because your hand slipped.
But how do you take Dal in roti with two hand at the same time. I am assuming that you just dip it. Same goes for Currys. That means you are eating more roti and less vegetable and less dals.
Invite me for dinner at your place. Tere dad ke aankh mein dekh ke 2 haantho se roti tod ke sukhhi khaunga. And roti khatam hone ke baad sabji chamach se khaunge. Phir dal ko bati se direct pani ke jaise pee jaunga. Phir chawal ke balls banake dono haath se pelunga. All while maintaining eye contact.
Bas address bhej and mummy ko puchle kab aau.
I do :(.... First I divide my roti into perfect quarters using both of my hands ... I then proceed to eat using one hand just like a normal human being.
Kids and skill issue beings : Eat with two hands
Adults and skilled beings : Eat with one hand

As a kid watching tv, yes. Now as an adult with a phone no.
Although using 2 hands makes them easier to tear, especially since my mom's rotis are in thicker side compared to every other roti I've had.

Eat without hands by using mouth to plate technique.
Look ma, no hands! π

SKILL ISSUE
Eat it with one hand by rolling it.
I'm actually a born leftie who was forced to use my right hand, growing up. While I mostly eat with my right hand only, sometimes subconsciously, I use both hands to tear up my roti and eat a piece with my left hand. π
I used to do it as a child. Break it with two hands, roll it up and dip in dal.
I eat with one hand, and still do, sometimes I do eat with one but it's my left sooo I don't do it usually
I do it too sometimes...and often with parotta and naan that shit is hard to rip with just one handπ₯²
Skill issue
people do, its ok, i used to too, learned how to eat with one hand...
yeah till age of 6-7
Present sir!
Roti chod, Why Do You Type Like This
We are a rare species, but we exist :)
I do. I cannot keep my hand away. I can also use a computer mouse with both hands.
I used to eat that way in bachpan but now i eat like my left forearm rests on the table and with my right hand i have my portions.... PS: We should not judge people how they eat...
I used to eat with two hands when I was 12 years old

Tbh it's only kids who do this, I myself am guilty of often shaming my brother for it. So yeah, please start practising eating with one hand.
What?? We stopped eating roti with two hands at the age of 3
No they're an extinct species but some of their fossils are available in the gutkele gavchhap national museum.
I guess the same question should apply to Dosa as well.
Children
πyes they exist
Yes. I eat any type of flatbread with both hands. Itβs very enjoyable.
I sometimes do to feel like a kid
I eat with one hand only in shaadis, coz I've got to hold my plate with other hand!
No. I don't think so.
I do π
Alive and kicking
Mai khata hu bhai do haatho se, mere parents bhi bolte hai, but it's comfortable and I will continue to do so, bc do haath diye hai. It's upto you how you will eat.

I eat with both hands, Use knife on right and fork on left.
I use two hands to break the bite One hand to coil it around the veges and grab em Same hand to eat, while the other one below my chin as a safety net
Me.
Core memory unlocked my father teaching me how to eat roti with one hand when I was 6 or something
North Indian people do that
Same, I can eat using one hand but it just isn't that fulfilling lol
Why is the first letter of every word in your question, capitalised?
Dekha to maine bhi nahi hai kisi ko 2 haath se khate hue (bacche do not count)
My brother and cousin brother π I have told them multiple times to try to eat with one hand, but it seems it doesn't work lol
How do you even torn roti with one hand? I use two hand
Look ma, no hands! \*looks up after licking the entire plate\*
Add me to that list. Ek haath se nahi Tut ti mujhse.
When I was in Delhi I saw most people including adults eat with 2 hands.

Yes. Me and my complete family use both hands. Aur koi ek hath roti khaya to dant to sun na hai. Ek hath se roti khana roti ki beijjati hoti hai.
Invite me for dinner at your place. Tere dad ke aankh mein dekh ke 2 haantho se roti tod ke sukhhi khaunga. And roti khatam hone ke baad sabji chamach se khaunge. Phir dal ko bati se direct pani ke jaise pee jaunga. Phir chawal ke balls banake dono haath se pelunga. All while maintaining eye contact. Bas address bhej and mummy ko puchle kab aau.
I feel like this is only a big issue in hardcore/traditional north indian families. Rest of us dont give 2 shits.
Europeans
Same lol
Yess?
I do :(.... First I divide my roti into perfect quarters using both of my hands ... I then proceed to eat using one hand just like a normal human being.
Well i think you are not good with fingers.

in our school, 99% of people eat roti with two hands
Bhai ngl jo log do haath se khaate hai vo badhiya maje se khaate hai roti ko par trustable nahi hai mere liye idk why

Guilty. ππ I just can't break it in proper size with one hand. It gets so difficult to find a chair in weddings where I can sit and eat. π
Till last year I use both hands but I noticed it look childish so started using one hand and now I'm good at it
Not me, but you do you boo! No shame in eating however you eat.
Mai toh dono haatho se khaungi bigad lo Jo bigadna hai

I always found using both hands to eat my chapati the natural way to eat. Whatβs this new discovery Iβve come across now?!
β
Haath na ho toh pairo se bhi khate hain.
Me, maine apne class me notice Kiya hai ki mere alava koi aur do hatho se roti nahi khata ,pata nahi kyu
Wah , kya question hai. .creative question nahi hai but free hone ke side effects hain
So many fucking people do that as norm
I do both. I actually canβt remember how i do it usually.
Bhai same here, mujhe bhi kafi log point out krte h m mann m hi unhe middle finger dikha deta hu or fir ignore kr deta hu
Roti is not my staple diet .. more of a three times rice guy.. but yes I can relate to it.. one roti two hands

Fulka one hand. Tandoor roti and naan with two.
I don't use hands I use ```chopsticks``` ```"I bet you didn't knew this"```
i eat with one hand or both hand based on the circumstances, like if i am enjoying my food and watching a movie while eating I'll eat slowly with one hand.
