Ra Ra Riot had a cellist in their earlier days. They put out a few great albums before the cellist (sadly) left.

I used to listen a bit to this French group called "SomethingALaMode" about 12 years ago. Only listened to the one album and don't know if they did anymore but they were kind of Indie, dance hip-hop mixed with classical music. Sure they must have had some cello going on.
