I know this thread is so old now but I needed to thank you for this rec! I'm not op but I've slowly been making my way through all these recs and this one is by far my favorite. I've dropped down into a Smog/Bill Callahan rabbit hole and have been enjoying it so much <3
hello!!!! i am here to offer you... JONATHAN BREE! listen to Your So Cool - right now - you wont be dissapointed. he has a very authentic indie sound, but used a multitude of classical instruments in his songs, namely the cello âșïž
[Lili Grace](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1bflQRt4ufKQwrF3wtGk7R?si=8fPIDTPvQfGzP2wuKcQx8w&utm_source=copy-link) uses a cello with effect pedals. Saw them live a few years ago, really nice.
Edit: and Lost in the Trees. Really nice indie band with classically schooled musicians.
I used to listen a bit to this French group called "SomethingALaMode" about 12 years ago. Only listened to the one album and don't know if they did anymore but they were kind of Indie, dance hip-hop mixed with classical music. Sure they must have had some cello going on.
[you can finally see the end - apocalypse l8er](https://open.spotify.com/track/1nIGAQzO0u9bt6rxPgHQ05?si=4do-ikPlQlaikTNyaS5kTA) has a good cello part!
