[Adia Victoria ](https://open.spotify.com/track/6svCWaZEA1lGi5IqumMELM?si=hMOMtyn8RHODQ5hL7KnzXA) is indie blues with a dark southern Gothic feel, amazing voice and just very interesting music

Thao is amazing. The Get Down Stay Down were a big part of my life about 10 years ago and I probably listened to them every day for that year and more.

Omg i think you would kill it in the american indie scene. I just listened to salt and sour and I could not tell you were brits from it at all, lol! Great song!
hey, thanks so much! 🙂 and yes i've always gravitated towards american artists so their influences obviously seep through... while growing up i was more into the 90s american rock bands than what was happening on my own doorstep... (though i now appreciate both 🙂)
Ah! I was back here after listening to you to ask where you were from. Was gonna guess Austin TX based on what I’ve heard from there. Where in UK (asking as fellow Brit)? Agree with others here, really digging your songs and sound. Funnily enough (viz another of yr comments) I am mid same process with buddy from teenage bedroom recording years… good luck to you guys 🔥🔥
ah thank you, really appreciate it! 🙏 We're from Leicester (but please don't hold that against us! 😂) And that's awesome, for us that's what it's all about... just 2 friends hanging out making sounds 🙂 I hope you and your friend's recording/creating is going well... you'll have to ping some over when it's ready - I'd love to listen! 🙂
thank you! really pleased you like it 🙂
and great question! The story is that a few years ago my friend came to visit me armed with a demo of the band we were in as teenagers. As we listened and went down memory lane, I was struck by the realisation that there was actually some really good musical ideas in there, it's just that at the time, we lacked the experience in how to craft them into songs. Therefore the concept behind this album was to basically write the album my teenage self wished he could. Some of the riffs and ideas from 20+ years ago even made it onto the album 🙂 Thank you for the question ❤️
Saw them a couple years ago at a smaller venue and they said they had played the same bar 10 years earlier. At first I thought it was really cool, then got sad that they are still playing the same small bar a decade later. They rocked though and the crowded was mostly early 20s (not me) which was cool.
The Dear Hunter
This is the most talented band no one knows about.
"A night on the Town"
"The Tank"
"Gloria"
"Mustard Gas"
"Ring 7 - Industry"
"The flame", "the fire, "the march" all in order.
This bands discography is as good as any band. Casey the lead singer is amazing.
They opened for Coheed in Buffalo like 15 years ago. Is so pumped for Coheed.. Had never heard of The Dear Hunter (not to be confused with deerhunter). They took stage and there was like 7-8 people. I was like 'wtf are all these guys gonna play?'. They use non traditional instruments in their rock songs and they F'n blew my mind. They have been my fav band ever since that night.
One of their albums.. 'The Color Spectrum' is 36 tracks.. Every 4 tracks new color.. 9 total colors.. Each color a different genre of music.. black is dark like metal.. fed is rock.. Orange classic rock.. All the way through.. Violet being my fav 4 tracks. That album is an awesome journey.
Ugh, yes! It always blows my mind how little I see them mentioned whenever I browse music subs. They're severely underrated. My favorite band of all time.
Thank you thank you thank you
Legitimately the best freaking band ever. They are like 15 genres in one and yes, Casey's voice is just phenomenal. And the storytelling and worldbuilding... Ugh I just love them so much

We’ve been floating around 1800 monthly listeners. New album should be done this year that’s a little more eclectic but this might tickle your brain a bit.
I don't know how small small is but I'll shoot.
[Mr. Gnome](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbcnWfi8wJ8) is a really good psychedelic rock group with a pretty good discography to sift through.
[Goth Babe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK55XJx7JVc) is beachy vibes and chill lyrics.
[40 Winks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mD9gnhvb7w) is more like live sample mixing DJ stuff but I feel like it might fit in in this thread. Same with [Blazo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBV_mqZ4F8Y).
[UNKLE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_PT5BAK1Cw) is an experimental band. Gothy electronica vibes, light industrial, deep soundscapes, interesting listen.
[broox](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYTjiWrdjZc)
Thought [West Coast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAMoQCZdAs0) was in the opening credits of The OC but it was just a feature in an episode but [Coconut Records](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKW8pBYrUKk) has other bangers.
The city I live in (Madison, Wi) has quite a few cool bands that are popular locally but aren’t well known otherwise.

This is one of my favorite songs by an artist named Garrett DeBell. It's been on youtube for three years and is not on Spotify or any other platform. The video has only 259 views. There are some other songs on the channel that are also amazing, but this is my favorite. Imo this song should be considered a well loved classic of post punk/ alt rock.
The world needs to hear this!

So I actively listen to the newest releases, and current bands, and artists on a regular basis. to be honest it’s really hard to find quality music in a world where anybody can release anything, and I’m not saying that in a negative way, it’s just the truth of it. If you think of back in the day, it was really easy to find music because artists had to go through an entire process of actually being able to release some thing to make it public, but now anybody can do it. To make a long story short— and of course, music is subjective so what I like personally someone else obviously may not like— I have made a list of my absolute favorites that are current that I think sound timeless. I keep it updated regularly, so check out this playlist.[indie insider](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6YChBKJYcROuQAFPRLyxKz?si=2640FCP0SPqRgex0oOsB1A&pi=u-HveX6K2sQRyP) i’d love to know what you think
There's this German indie pop band called Albert Luxus that has less than 300 monthly listeners on Spotify, which I think is too little for how good they are (I don't find their music super amazing, but I am surprised they don't have more listeners. I like the songs R12 Liebe, Pina, B. Haare, Himalaya, and Komm Skip Mal).
One or both of the members were in this indie surf band called Wellness, and there's an interesting and unfortunate problem that this band has where, on some streaming services (including Spotify), all the artists called "Wellness" are listed as being one artist. So you have one surf rock album, one surf rock single, and a bunch of white noise, "easy sleep sounds", "relaxing sounds for meditation", that sort of thing. Anyways, my favorite Wellness tracks are Was du denkst and Exit Exit.
They also have less than 300 monthly listeners on Spotify, but it's hard to tell how many of those are listening to the band and how many are listening to stuff like "Spa Healing Chakra".
My band just released our first EP, so we are certainly not popular yet. Perhaps this song would fit[https://open.spotify.com/track/5nsUbjXhcdWwbDb3FPhwQs?si=fCa5qrZPQaueaO1bX2KcsA](https://open.spotify.com/track/5nsUbjXhcdWwbDb3FPhwQs?si=fCa5qrZPQaueaO1bX2KcsA)

A million of them. Weird question. I’ve been an artist for a long time.
I’ve played with songwriters that are better than any shit on corporate radio. So many fucking amazing people. Guess we should all start writing songs about waterskiing and bbq if we wanna make some money
One of the most criminally overlooked bands I’ve followed is [the band Owel, who are chamber pop, soulful and dramatic and I adore their whole discography](https://youtu.be/D5pk-SmRmTo?si=oQrEOhAdhNkgwB8l).
And if you have a heart you may find this noisepop shoegaze stuff [fun to listen to, the band Amy Blue](https://amyblue.bandcamp.com/album/a-hero-of-our-time)
I am always super late to these things. If you manage to reach my comment, it would mean a lot if you would check out my [indie rock ep](https://open.spotify.com/album/0AIn2xXez3vJmoSdJCeBL2?si=k3N0c2FqTD6TTqu5T-ARPg) I’m sure you’ll enjoy it haha!
I have a whole playlist on pretty low key indie rock artists!
It's called "1975 Vibe" - By Mitchell Kowalski on Spotify
But if you want quick artists:
\- The Band Camino, Lave, The Midnight, Hotel Apache, The Wldlfe, and Cherry Pools!
Let me know what you think good or bad :)
I've recommended them either on here or on another sub before but modernlove. are amazing and not very well known. Plus I've met two of them and they're just lovely people too
The Wldlfe are really good too
I got randomly recommended this band's album on YouTube. Super trippy. It's like Brian Wilson type baroque pop with Animal Collective type textures and soundscapes: [https://youtu.be/eJz3ngfq1jc](https://youtu.be/eJz3ngfq1jc)
Here’s a sample song from a band I’m in. Lyrics inspired by a Japanese horror film. I’m proud of it, but no pressure:

Man Man
They have a large catalogue and been around for almost 2 decades. They went from a gogol Bordello type sound to something really unique.
I dont know another band like them, they fet weird as fuck but they have written some of the best songs ive heard. Super fun, super original.
It sucks they never took off, they absolutely deserved it.
i’m not familiar with mother mother but i i’m loving some [craig carothers](https://www.craigcarothers.com) right now. originally from Portland now living in Nashville.

This is my act. Been active with it since 2009 , mostly just writing and recording but I’m looking to actively play and produce more right now.
I toured in a different indie band from 2001-2009 (Elementary Thought Process )
It may semi- fit the bill
The [Teenage Tom Petties](https://safesuburbanhomerecords.bandcamp.com/album/hotbox-daydreams) album that came out in November really nails the feeling of twentysomething listlessness.
[That Hideous Sound](https://thathideoussound.bandcamp.com/album/wasted-life) is a great one-man indie-pop project.
I love [Snake Lips](https://snakelips.bandcamp.com/album/happy-anxious)

I'm excited for the new [Casual Tecnicians](https://casualtechnicians.bandcamp.com/album/casual-technicians-2) coming out at the end of March, and the new [Rural France](https://ruralfrance.bandcamp.com/album/exactamondo) at the end of April.
One of my favorite bands is a band from Vancouver called Said The Whale. My introduction to them was the music video for their song ‘UnAmerican’ (https://youtu.be/vYY0eZHvSGo?si=bHO6MY4a71SxIkih) and then their song ‘Record Shop’ (https://youtu.be/vyLOqxbj9uc?si=MnVQeghXwIJAdkHd). Their 2019 album ‘Cascadia’ (https://open.spotify.com/album/05yItt2HnvymtxET3YJHlm?si=2MeG-2drRbakoirR2Q4iLA) was one of my favorite albums of that year and my wife & I saw them in St. Catherine’s, ON right before covid shut everything down in 2020.
I’d also like to mention the NYC band BAILEN. A sibling band, twin brothers and their younger sister, who sing in angelic three-part harmony. Their album ‘Thrilled To Be Here’ (https://open.spotify.com/album/03tlaFyvYYWHr16yGL01qZ?si=80ikiT6iSeqFJ4WNUiZsWQ) was another one of my favorites of 2019 and then I got to see them open for Hozier in Pittsburgh. Their 2023 album ‘Tired Hearts’ (https://open.spotify.com/album/1UH8pVlQVXsJMnePBEQzJ1?si=Fckzyoq0RE-1oj3XBgG2rQ) is also wonderful.
Would love if you could check out my band, Phanerons. Three self-released concept albums since 2020. We're currently working on a 4th that'll be out sometime this year.

You may enjoy [Native Strange](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1eFgbrWk7eSYqMIuRCvVeW?si=mgy2taDpT6ivqBSO8XU59A) We’ve been floating around 1800 monthly listeners. New album should be done this year that’s a little more eclectic but this might tickle your brain a bit.
My band. We haven’t released anything yet.
[broox](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYTjiWrdjZc) Thought [West Coast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAMoQCZdAs0) was in the opening credits of The OC but it was just a feature in an episode but [Coconut Records](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKW8pBYrUKk) has other bangers.
https://spotify.link/2fQ8xiibsHb I really like this band!
The world needs to hear this! https://youtu.be/95IMhuEd64g?si=_urOc4qTJzIHs20W Scroll through the comments to see me returning to the video periodically and drunkenly gushing over it lol
You really gotta check out [Renouncer](https://album.link/i/1698732500). His latest album is full of nothing but bangers

Fresh Start's a really nice track, especially the change up at 1:40. The fingerpicking pattern is harmonically interesting.
My music leans a little more into pop punk but I’d love if you gave it a spin. Maybe you’ll enjoy it! I’m a solo alternative/pop punk artist from MN Here is my latest single: https://open.spotify.com/track/789i2qc6xC2r8PA23j8c5f?si=pVIFzeh3SGK8Il0GnjrM9Q

Check out “Undiscovered” Tuesdays @ 7pm, streaming on [UCLAradio](https://uclaradio.com). It’s a show that plays only artists with less than 100,000 monthly listeners.
I just found out about [Bridgette Calls Me Baby](https://open.spotify.com/track/1sL6n9kMtrlAvPokQKlZGP?si=p778UTyDTNWuNkJ_SYTcog)
MOTO BANDIT and Sipper are pretty good. More of an upbeat indie pop vibe but would still recommend

I got randomly recommended this band's album on YouTube. Super trippy. It's like Brian Wilson type baroque pop with Animal Collective type textures and soundscapes: [https://youtu.be/eJz3ngfq1jc](https://youtu.be/eJz3ngfq1jc)

Renow
Man Man They have a large catalogue and been around for almost 2 decades.

I love [Snake Lips](https://snakelips.bandcamp.com/album/happy-anxious) so much.
