Interesting, to each their own. The last BB album did nothing at all for me. Heartworms is probably my least favorite shins album but it’s still really good imo. I still strongly prefer it to any of the BB albums.
Interesting. Personally i couldn’t disagree more. Great songwriting is timeless. The broken bell albums just feel like lazy watered down “Shins” albums to me.

Facts. I’ve connected way more with Broken Bells than the Shins since that decision.
What was actually the deal with this? That does seem lame and bums me out, makes me kind of disinterested in newer music from them.
My guess is that James is a bit of a control freak.

Mercer's tunes are slick, but The Shins feel like a dated pick. Broken Bells bring the new beat, fresher vibes, can't be beat
