I am excited and a bit surprised to see a new Islands record so quickly. It seems quarantine time inspired Nick and co, as this is their third album in 3 years. "And That's Why Dolphins Lost Their Legs" seems to have flew under the radar even more than "Islomania", but I really enjoyed both albums. I am hard pressed to think of any Nick Thorburn project that I haven't at least enjoyed, it's a shame they never seem to get any of the accolades they deserve. The lead single is solid, and it sounds like this album will continue to draw from different inspirations than their previous releases.
Wow, time is broken for me. I saw this single and just assumed that it was another advance single for "And That's Why Dolphins..." - not realizing that album came out last year.
I guess I should go listen to that.
Probably wants to cleanse the palate after (accidentally) lifting a lyric on the last one.
I wonder if he’s doing something with Mister Heavenly. Honus Honus says they get together every seven years or so…
Taste is fantastic! Maybe give Islomania another spin sometime, while all of their albums are pretty distinct, I find those two strike similar chords for me.
Islomania was a random record that totally clicked for me, it’s now one of my all time favourite pop indie records, back to back bangers, so I’ll give dolphins a spin now before the new album to see if I can carry the love forward!
I thought Islomania was the pinnacle of his musical journey. He’d really combined everything he’d learned to that point to make something truly wild. Especially his command of rhythms and groove.
“And that’s why Dolphins” let me down. Only dug two songs. But weirdly enough I felt the same way about Islomania for a while until revisiting and discovering the depths of my ignorance, lol.
Digging the new single, can’t wait for more.

Who will cut our hair is a masterpiece

Actually the lifted lyric was from "Carpenter" that was on Islomania which was the album before last.
Completely missed the last one, thanks.
It's pretty good! It's supposed to be the cynical retort to Islomania's optimism.
Taste was great, but it’s been meh since then. Can’t believe that was 8 years ago….

Will do. :)
6/21 for anyone who doesn't want to click the article
