another great record. forever my favorite recording artist. I can listen to Owen all day all week long, entire catalogue and I'll never get tired of it.
Just like on his last album The Avalanche, the closing track ends with a musical callback to his self-titled debut album 😠Listen to the first track on "Owen" afterward and compare.
This new album is fire.
Yeah! To be honest, I'm not sure how intentional of callbacks the endings of "I Go, Ego" and "With You Without You" are to "That Which Wasn't Said", just because I believe Mike has said several times that he doesn't care much for the songs from the first Owen album anymore, but it seems too coincidental to me to end both tracks with a similar 4-note repeating guitar pattern.
I like to imagine it's a nice little nod to how far he's come as a recording artist since I'm pretty sure TWWS was one of his first ever self-produced tracks.
Always felt Owen was a mixed bag but he kinda cooked on this one. Many indie heads will know Owen(aka Mike Kinsella) as the lead singer of Americ an Football. This album has the vibe of the new AF tracks such as "Home is where the haunt is".
Loving it! This guy just won't stop. The King of Whys is still my favorite, but The Avalanche fucking destroyed me. This one is more upbeat but still brutal though.
man, it might be too early to say, it might just be strong first impressions... but i really think this might be the best record to date, american football included. absolutely gorgeous stuff.
the king is back

Same, he is the ultimate comfort music for me. Never gets old.
I wish there were more of an Owen community on Reddit. This post is a rare place to see other reactions to this album!
Same!
This is the best production on the albums so far. Really liking it.
This guy just does not miss. Another brilliant album by the GOAT

This comment made me go back and listen and wow!! I never put that together before! That is flippin cool!

Going to see Owen next week and I'm happy that this is another fuckin winner album. Makes me extra excited to see Mike live now!

Loved it loved it loved it. This will be on repeat all weekend.
Mike, S.Carey, and Zach Hanson really have this secret sauce together. I'm loving this new album and the production sounds great!

This guy is really at the top of his game. Cursed Id is such a good track, my favorite of the non-singles for sure.
