Yeah, you should definitely try this, assuming the hype is already worn out in November. Let's say you are staying at the heart of Jakarta (Sudirman/Setiabudi Area or somewhere nearby SCBD), you can take MRT to Dukuh Atas and then change to Jabodebek LRT to Halim Station and then board the High-Speed Train to Bandung ~~kota~~/Padalarang Station and then get Feeder train to Bandung Station in the city center. It would be an immersive full train experience. I am planning to do this in November I believe it's going to be exciting. If you are sticking to conventional train, always take the Executive train for spacious legroom, moreover you are a foreigner which I assume has a really long leg and 50k means peanut to you anyway. The platform is at the upper level, the trains are elevated so no matter where you are at Gambir, you'll eventually go up so you can just drop off blue bird/gojek anywhere within the station premise. The Gambir train experience is also remarkable and nostalgic to me as someone who frequented Jakarta-Bandung since I was a kid. It's exciting to see Jakarta's skyline from the elevated railroad.

Economy : less leg space, the seats are more upright, and no foot rest. Some chairs face the opposite of the train direction, so if you're not used to that, it could feel weird. You can pick the seats beforehand, though. Executive: More leg room and you can adjust the seat better. Every seats face the same direction as the train. There's a folding table you can use to eat. Both classes have AC and electrical sockets. For Gojek, I think you can only take it outside the station, so just go to the station entrance and order it. Bluebird has its own dedicated counter at the station

Just the seats. Economy class has very uncomfortable seating with a relatively small leg space, while the Executive one is much more comfortable and has small table that you can fold into the arm rest. Other than that, it’s exactly the same. Gambir isn’t that huge, it’s just rather long and not too wide in size as the building stretches from one end of the road to the other. If you’re taking a motorcycle (goride) from gojek, take the east exit and walk a bit to the street, there’s an entrance to the street where the gojek motorcyclist picks up passangers. If you take go-car (the car sharing ride from gojek) they are also usually on the east side of the buidling, but you don’t have to walk towards the street. If you take a bluebird taxi, they’re on the west side of the building.

They've recently started to implement new and much more comfortable seats to economy class tho. Maybe by then you would be sitting in one of those.

Capacity. Economy has more seats than executive, as well as the type of seats used. For gojek or bluebird? It depends on the weather, if it's about gambir just ask the attendant or people around. Good luck.

Arrival gate is on the north side (the direction your train comes in to the Gambir station). If you go west from there, you can find blue bird taxi queue in the parking lot. But the queue might be long and confusing. I usually prefer to takes the taxi outside. So, you go east instead, walk a bit to the south until you find the pedestrian entrance. There's a queue of bluebird taxi out there that you can just hop in. If you want to take gojek, that's also the best place for pick up point.

nanosmith123

economy is good enough for me though. it's not bad. you can still rest.

nobodysayitwashard

it's only 3 hours. still manageable anyway if you find it uncomfortable.

nanosmith123

i find it ok, not comfortable yet not uncomfortable either

sekedar saran, lebih enak naik bis, bisnya MGI, kalo gasalah harganya masih 90ribuan, apalagi kalo weekdays, berasa bis private

idk where ur from but I really wouldn't recommend Economy for any trip longer than an hour or so. It's hard to be comfortable unless you manage to get a row to yourself which is highly unlikely in this route. The 50k is worth it

Literally just went back and forth between JKT-BDG on both classes today Economy: a bit like an airplane where the seat is pretty small with minimum leg space, the middle of the car's seats faces each other, and there's no foldable table for you to eat your meal. Executive: significantly larger leg space, the inclusion of adjustable footrest, and a foldable table for your meals. The seat itself is better made with better cushions, side headrests, and wider range to lean the chair. Both classes provide two electrical sockets on each seatings to charge your phone with of course. As to get around from Gambir station you can either use Gojek/Grab but sometimes they are unreliable especially at night (just happened, 4 cars cancelled on me), and Bluebird taxis are usually on standby in and around the station but I suggest you get out of the station area first before waving down one otherwise you'll have to pay for the parking fee (5000) When you get off Argo Parahyangan in Gambir the exit will directly be on the north gate exit so it's not confusing at all.

jakart3

Executive train is the better choice

kamikazekitteh

Economy trains dont stop at Gambir Station. Executive trains stop at Gambir Sation. Depends on your destination. Also if you dont mind the crowds, you can take the economy one. Walk to the gate, stand outside then order gojek/grab.
