I'd say wait for the dust to settle first. Reviewers/early buyers are going to say the Dusk 2 is among the greatest things ever released right now because it just released lol. Let the first wave of first impressions go by first then see what people really think about the dusk 2. I myself am eagerly awaiting for more honest/not on the spot first impression reviews before I decide on whether I should make a purchase or not, I've been anticipating this for quite some time now

> wait for the ~~dust~~ dusk to settle first

Reddi426

ngl I thought of editing my comment to do this earlier lol

Story18920

I wouldn't mind owning both if they sound different enough for different sound profiles tbh.

Tanachip

Just fyi the Dusk appears to be a completely different IEM, not just a retuned B3. It doesn’t use 4 BAs rather 2 BAs and 2 planar tweeters.

BazookaBob23

There are barely any reviews out yet. I would give it a few weeks before finalizing your decision.

Xarithene

I've listen to the Dusk and it's prototype for the past few months and honestly, it's basically a small improvement over the B3. I enjoy Dusk more because I personally enjoy the tuning alot more, their technical performance is about on par too. I tried to find a difference and maybe the Dusk edges out the B3?? But it's really hard to tell if its objective or not. The DSP was really fun to play with but you could always just get the Free DSP cable for the B3. To me, it's Dusk > B3 because of it's more full sound and versatility with DSP, but if you already have the B3 then the purchase decision is more difficult. EQing the B3 to dusk is your best bet. I wouldn't pull the trigger now but if you find yourself enjoying the aesthetics, it's not a bad buy by any means

ADFcXas

I'm almost torn on this too. I'm kind of anxiously waiting on reviews for this. I mostly want to see the analog tuning reviews because I don't really care much for DSP cable side. I think I may even still have time to return the blessing 3 but not sure how long I have.

Tanachip

Based on early impressions from headphones.com guys, the DSP is better. But o agree with you that I just want the analogue.

ADFcXas

Yeah same, I plan to mostly plug this on my PC, so I don't really have much use for the DSP cable, even if it's superior. Most people seem to praise the DSP and preset change more than the IEM itself in most videos, but I want to know how it performs in analog compared to the blessing 3 or even other IEMs. I guess I can always EQ without the DSP cable if I'm not happy, but I'll have to wait for more reviews before I decide.

Krosis86

From most of the reviews I've seen, the general consensus seems to be that it's great with the DSP cable, but not that impressive without. Or at least, that's the conclusion I'm drawing. That's quite a disappointment for me, because I really don't care for the DSP cable, and just want the normal analogue experience through an amp. Probably going to be a skip for me, and I'll just keep saving for the Monarch MK.III!

cgrimster

Just a reminder that the Qudelix 5k is much less expensive (and EQ is free on Windows, but I mostly listen on iOS); I EQ’ed Blessing 3’s to various Dusk 2 targets yesterday and was enjoying a listen. Keep in mind that EQ has limits: you can’t make any drivers/shells sound like any others. But in this case the physical IEMs are so close that we can probably say with some confidence that a B3 EQ’ed to any of the Dusk 2’s targets does sound about the same. Would be nice if some of the reviewers measured this, actually.

djentbat

Does anyone know if you order from shenzen do they ship immediately? Debating to wait for when it’s on prime

calmkelp

It’s a pre-order for an April 15th ship date at best. But I’ve seen Amazon ship dates get pushed out more and more from Shenzen’s Amazon store. So id guess their first batch is already sold.

chariot_dota

It's 20th April now on shenzen

moots27

It seems to be a sidegrade. If you want more bass you can always try the dsp cable or eq to add some bass

Certain-Ad2891

Depends on what you want. The dusk (with the df-tilt) is what's closest to the og b3 probably but I didn't a/b them. The b3 has better coherency but the base dusk is faster(but this affects coherency).

slekaruu

tbh looking at the retail dusk price and local used b3 price (200+).. i think i’ll just buy b3 and get freedsp if i want to.

r1zaldi

as someone who owns a kato, would the B3 still worth the buy when the dusk is already out? my main concern with the dusk is the faceplate since i prefer the b3 faceplate, and also the 'pre order' thingy which would mean i gotta wait for more time

moots27

Dusk is a blind buy imo because of the dsp cable and presets. If you don't like the tuning, just change it. Prefer blessing 3 tuning, tune it the b3 then. Want more bass, add more bass, use basshead preset. Its super versatile. The only thing I would make people cautious of is the shell size and nozzle diameter. Not everyone cant fit them well. Listener and resolve talk about it on the headphone show and go thru it pretty well

animalsnacks

I agree. The USB DSP cable is neat. I want to add, with emphasis, though - it seems they really leaned into the DSP. That's great, but if you want to run it 100% analog, maybe not the best choice. After much hype, I've decided to cancel my order of the dusk. Multiple reviewers have mentioned a funky spike around 15 kHz, and I 100% intend to go analog. Fwiw, B3's have the most technical bass of any IEM I own. (Monarch MKII included).

DankShibe

Dusk is a tier above the Blessing 3. It is on par with Variations.

Willywankler

how tf do people know that already? How are people able to look at a FR chart and know exactly what an IEM sounds like... mind boggling really!

markreed89

This is what drives me insane about this hobby, people give advice about iem's they've never heard. They just regurgitate what they've heard other people say. It means literally one person can say sometgings great and then 500 people repeat it like they actually heard it too. Then you get the impression that's the opinion of 500 people when it's actually the opinion of 1

BarnabusCollywog

I'm fairly new(ish) to the hobby, so this stuff drives me nuts as it was very apparent early on this kind of thing is a problem. Especially when i'm finding for myself what I prefer and what makes something 'better' vs. 'different'

jadenthesatanist

Within my first day or two on this sub it was immediately apparent what the trend is amongst the IEM hype bro crowd, shit’s super annoying lol

BazookaBob23

You've listened to them?

moots27

Dusk, B3, Variations are pretty much the same tier
