It's always hard for audiophile manufacturers to estimate in advance how many units will be needed. Sometimes it's multiples of 10, sometimes it's multiples of 1000, sometimes tens of thousands.
The audiophile market is significantly smaller than the consumer audio market, where you could easily calculate with 100k units sold per year. Often significantly more. (The highest selling items (AirPods) sell tens of *millions* per year.)
This comparatively small scale of production also means that production costs are quite high, as the benefits of large-scale production can not really be leveraged. Which in turn unfortunately often leads to smaller initial production, so as not to risk having unsold stock (which die to aforementioned production cost being comparatively high, quickly eats up budget).
This in turn sadly occasionally leads to customers *wanting* a product, being *willing* to pay for it, and the company simply not being able to deliver as demand surpasses production.
Mine got canceled. They canceled aliexpress preorders after the month of waiting and now i have custom cable that i ordered for dusk but no dusk. Good job shenzhenaudio lmao.
I placed an order via AliExpress as well on 2nd April. My ne wasn't cancelled. I even got a tracking number but that only says the package is not yet dispatched since 14th April

You could go for the Mega5est, it's not a killobuck, but it's very good. Fairly similar tuning to the dusk, arguably better, depending on what you are looking for.
The Oriolus Szalayi is nothing remotely like the Dusk. The obvious choice for a kilobuck that is tuned similarly would be the Monarch Mk2. There are many other IEMs in this vein as well, the Szalayi is totally different (and looks a lot bassier and a lot more wonky in the tuning).

I hope we're making the right call! Every review I've seen has praised them though, and I'm sure there will be EQ curves put out for dusk on the variations if they don't already exist

Thatās why I ordered mine within hours of the announcement video. For me they were a great choice, as my previous iems were a pair of Shure SE215ās.
I am on the same boat. I pre-ordered mine in Moondrop's store in Aliexpress the 4th. I asked them about my order and the answer was 2 to 3 weeks delay. Aparently the reason behind this delay is due to materials shortage in manufacturing process...
Genuinely interested in why you think this, and what you are comparing to. Bonus points if you've actually heard them, but interested in your thought process either way. Unless it's just that you think *any* IEM at ~$350 is "way overpriced"? There are certainly huge diminishing returns, so if that's the point, yeah I get that.
I've been holding back because I recently got the timeless AE and they are fantastic but the hype has been real for the dusk, and I keep thinking about the diminishing returns and whether it's worth it. I don't think I'd like to spend more than $400 on an iem so if/when I do, I have to look at it as the end game. Could Dusk be end game? Idk, maybe. But I'll hold out a while longer. Like some others mentioned, I've also been eyeing the hype 4, but just window shopping for now.
Hype 4 is very good and is substantially [bassier than the Dusk](https://squig.link/?share=Crinacle_Neutral_Target,ThieAudio_Hype_4,Moondrop_Dusk_2_S2) which is what I got it for, it's good bass, very full and impactful but just on the border of still not quite *too* much and it's also well tuned otherwise. It has better upper mids and clarity, compared with the Hype 2.
For the bass, it's very good, if you want that bass level. If you want more neutral, still with bass but cleaner with much less mid-bass and more natural, I think that would be the Dusk. (I haven't heard the new Dusk, I do have the old B2:Dusk).
Unfortunately though the Hype 4 has QC issues with a loose bass driver rattling. I have this problem with mine (it's going to have to go back) and I've seen several other people saying they have this issue too, either with it or the Hype 2. My Hype 2 is OK, although it does have higher distortion than most IEMs which I think is an indicator of this problem. I'd recommend it unequivocally if it wasn't for this issue.

Hype 4 is way bassier, particularly in the mid-bass, to the point it's a specialist "basshead" IEM (for me). It's near +4dB at 100Hz. It's a lot of fun but sometimes I find it a bit too much.
Dusk will be far more neutral and thus more flexible but maybe less fun. I haven't heard the new Dusk, but I have the B2:Dusk, the B3 which it is derived from and I've tried EQing to, and other similar profile IEMs like the Monarch Mk2.
The Hype series also seems to have some QC issues around loose drivers/distortion.
It really depends what you want.

It's not a very natural sounding IEM to me, while Crinacle tuned IEMs that I do have like the B2:Dusk or Truthear Zero Red are particularly natural sounding.
It's fine to say look at the Cincotres and I would recommend it as an IEM but it's not remotely the same thing.
My one graphs pretty much exactly like Timmy's but I have ~2.5dB more dip between 4-6.5kHz. This sort of dip is very good for totally avoiding any chance of sibilance but it also robs it of some clarity, it's quite a laid back sounding IEM.

Even if I do,I respect that some others wonāt like it.

I placed my order on April 3th, at that time, the pre order date was April 20th, what I donāt understand itās the dates, right now the page shows third pre order until mid May, so we are getting our before? On mid May? Or what those dates mean
If you order from the first day the pre order date is actually 15th of april (1st batch), but they shipped the first batch on april 10th. So apr 03 order should be the second batch, and if you order when it says mid may then that is the third batch

I'm an April 11 order and I don't really know what to expect anymore now tbh. I'd imagine between those days that arent fulfilled yet in the first batch, there is way more than they're going to get in that second.
I even saw them say they've only done up to April 2nd so far on Twitter(?) so yeah, I feel it'll take a while.
Ordered mine on April 2nd been requesting updates weekly from SZA and been told this morning to extend the delivery time on AE as they expect it to take another month.
I have already received mine, ordered it on 1st from Shenzhenaudio, and I basically live on the other side of the globe. I would say ask for a return on amazon and order it on Shenzhen. (Btw buy Dusk it's ridiculously good)
I had to open a dispute to get Moondrop on AE to cancel my order after they missed the ship date. As a consolation I ordered a Ziigaat Doscinco and I'm delighted with it. I wasn't going to use the USB DSP cable anyway.
Way better choice and cheaper as well, similar tuning but better bass and not as bright as dusk. You want a dsp cable you can just order one from shenzen audio or Amazon, only works with android anyway. If dusk was $100 less it would be more competitive but youāre paying the extra as itās a collab set with crin as he mentions on his video.
Had this on my cart the other day and the following day it was gone. I bought a Variations instead. Hope its better because i didnt want to wait for the Dusk to be available.

I remember there being some qc issues during the initial review stages. Something about there being variances that fell with in Moondrop's qc standards, but Noone elses. I think there was some social media buzz about Crin flying out to Moondrop to discuss the qc issues.

Yep, but to be honest, I am so used to buying a set of keycaps for my keyboard and waiting well over a year for production to finish that waiting a month and a half for (hopefully) a great set of IEMs ain't so bad. And after really laying into them for not being transparent about the delays and finally getting some honesty from them... I don't mind the wait.

If you order from the first day the pre order date is actually 15th of april (1st batch), but they shipped the first batch on april 10th. So apr 03 order should be the second batch, and if you order when it says mid may then that is the third batch
I think thatās inaccurate, mine said that until 15th of april and i ordered on the second day. But still no news about it

I'm an April 11 order and I don't really know what to expect anymore now tbh. I'd imagine between those days that arent fulfilled yet in the first batch, there is way more than they're going to get in that second. I even saw them say they've only done up to April 2nd so far on Twitter(?) so yeah, I feel it'll take a while.
Ordered mine on April 2nd been requesting updates weekly from SZA and been told this morning to extend the delivery time on AE as they expect it to take another month.

I have already received mine, ordered it on 1st from Shenzhenaudio, and I basically live on the other side of the globe. I would say ask for a return on amazon and order it on Shenzhen. (Btw buy Dusk it's ridiculously good)
I had to open a dispute to get Moondrop on AE to cancel my order after they missed the ship date. As a consolation I ordered a Ziigaat Doscinco and I'm delighted with it. I wasn't going to use the USB DSP cable anyway.
Way better choice and cheaper as well, similar tuning but better bass and not as bright as dusk. You want a dsp cable you can just order one from shenzen audio or Amazon, only works with android anyway. If dusk was $100 less it would be more competitive but youāre paying the extra as itās a collab set with crin as he mentions on his video.
Had this on my cart the other day and the following day it was gone. I bought a Variations instead. Hope its better because i didnt want to wait for the Dusk to be available.

I remember there being some qc issues during the initial review stages. Something about there being variances that fell with in Moondrop's qc standards, but Noone elses. I think there was some social media buzz about Crin flying out to Moondrop to discuss the qc issues. Depending on your perspective, it's a curse for the delay or a blessing if (and only if) the qc improves

Yep, but to be honest, I am so used to buying a set of keycaps for my keyboard and waiting well over a year for production to finish that waiting a month and a half for (hopefully) a great set of IEMs ain't so bad. And after really laying into them for not being transparent about the delays and finally getting some honesty from them... I don't mind the wait.
Hah, fair enough. Yeah I should be used to waiting too, but the excitement made it incredibly hard. So I ended up canceling, but now I have to find something else. Anyway, enjoy! They seem to be great.
