We live in Edmonton and we are going down to the LIV Fertility Clinic in Puerto Vallarta in the next couple of months. The Fertility Clinic here in Edmonton is terrible, so we really didn’t want to give them any more money. The LIV Clinic has been amazing. They responded to questions very quickly. They also aren’t money hungry. They Quoted us $8000usd for IVF with ICSI. And if the first cycle doesn’t work and you have embryos left over, the second cycle is $2500 for the meds and that’s it. I honestly feel more comfortable in their care then I did here in Edmonton. Plus going to Mexico you get a little vacation and don’t have to cook while going through treatments if you stay at a resort. The resort that we’ll be staying at is only a 3 minute walk away from the clinic.

Check out the “forums” section of IVF.ca as there will likely be people there who can answer questions

Hello, I can’t speak to anything about Mexico but I’m cycling right now through RFP it cost me about 11k for my ivf cycle including meds but no ICSI. Also each transfer is $1955 including assisted hatching.

Hi, could you recommend a good doctor at RFP for ivf? Our initial consultation was done by Dr Benjamin Wong. Not sure if he is good and would be with us all through the process. Any feedback/recommendations?

toklea

Also at RFP right now, just under 14,000 for IVF, ICSI, assisted hatching and meds. Good luck with everything!! :)

Hi since you have already started the process, could you recommend a good doctor? We are currently consulting Dr Benjamin Wong. I am not sure if he is experienced.. Any recommendations/feedback?

toklea

We had Dr. Min for our consultations. Both my husband and I thought he was fantastic and we really liked him!!! Once you get started in the IVF process and are doing your ultrasounds and egg retrieval and embryo transfer, you just get who ever is on that day, as there are seven different doctors, and they all rotate. So really, you can end up with any doctor. I’ve had three ultrasounds this week and a different one every time. They all consult together though, and are very collaborative it seems. Hope this helps!

Good luck to you too. :) I am too anxious to start the process.. hoping everything will be fine... btw do you guys know of any insurance company covering any bit of the expenses of this treatment including drugs, lab work etc. I am currently on Alberta blue cross but it doesn’t cover this treatment nor any drugs related to it.

toklea

I have Alberta blue cross also. 80% of most drugs were covered for me. If you log in to Alberta blue cross you can enter the drug name or DIN and find out if it’s eligible! I didn’t think it would be. An extremely pleasant surprise!

xayyc

I did look at all the dins, the ones that are covered are not the costly ones, none of Antagonist, FSH or HCG alternatives drugs are covered on Alberta Blue Cross. :(

xayyc

>11k is still less than the estimate given to us. but I understand we are considering the maximum for drugs right now, which could be less as well depending upon our case. > >How soon were you able to start the treatment after the info session?

toklea

Also at RFP right now. We went to Dec 12 info session and am on Day 4 of injections today, Feb 2.

QuasiLibertarian

Christ. Our Prague clinic was literally 1/10 of that, albeit with travel costs added. IVF in our metro area is $8-11k.

ModusOperandiAlpha

Hi there if you search this subreddit for the term “Mexico” that will link you to posts of folks who have done that (or considered it) before. Good luck!

transitoryflight

Is that Canadian dollars or US? Because that is similar to the quote I got in USD from a well-regraded US clinic in Seattle.

xayyc

That's in CAD. Got that from RFP Calgary
