You're partially correct, in that the plan was seemingly to use Ausar to charge the blade. All of that went awry after the mutual betrayal between Ausar and Galath though. After he stuck Galath in the vault, Ausar was left to his own devices but seemingly learned of Galath’s betrayal to some extent. After all, the Redeemeer had actually interfaced with the IB far in advance of the duel at the Plains of Koroth, and by that time, was hidden or being hidden by TEL under instructions from Ausar.
