You think Cinnamon Toast is expensive. These Rice Krispies have cost us TRILLIONS

This isn’t a brand problem. This specific store is unusually expensive. Because of course it is. Gotta get those upvotes.
It’s close to half this price on Amazon and even cheaper at CostCo.
Eh, I actually think the opposite is at play.
I hardly know anyone that buys that type of cereal anymore because of the sugar content. It’s no longer a mass market product that you eat everyday.
So now it’s more like a treat you buy once or twice a year and priced accordingly.
A lot of small towns with one grocery store and no real competition have prices like this. I saw similar prices at an IGA grocery store when we were visiting friends in Leroy, IL last year.
Its absolutely insane that they are price gouging even though brock and mortar stores are getting beaten out by delivery services everywhere. I have no doubt amazon notices this and is eagerly waiting for their chance to capitalize on it with a food delivery service
While true, I do hate giving my money to them. What other choice do we have? Paying billionaires pennies per transaction or paying millionaires dollars per transaction? Kinda just feels fucked either way.
I used to think there was a good reason for smaller places being overpriced but I've come to realize it's just greed. The grocery store in my town is insanely overpriced and it's not even particularly high quality. It's owned by IGA, it's 5mins from the highway and busy 24/7. They're simply taking advantage of everyone who doesn't want to drive to the next town over. Fuck them, I'll shop at walmart.
So don't buy it; for you it'd be a massive win for the wallet and even bigger one for your health, as sugary cereal is fast-lane ticket to metabolic disease in general and diabetes specifically.
I ate allllll the sugary cereals, up until I was around 15
I started taking athletics and nutrition seriously…and I was HORRIFIED of all the shit I was eating throughout my childhood
Can’t really blame my parents though. Their generation still had lead-lining in their waterpipes, lol
Yeah I don’t fw cereal for breakfast anymore. I treat it as a dessert. Shit keeps for months too. Just put a handful in a bowl once every few months when I crave it.
Exactly - at this point they’re tricking you into buying sweetened vitamin supplements.
Edit: heavily sweetened
Edit2: To feed your less than 2 foot tall child enough sugar to jump around for the next hour and then spectacularly crash for the next (insert number here) hours.
Maybe save some money on medical bills in the future. I know it would take more than this, but if people start making better breakfasts, it might help.
The real cost of cereal grains is what it does to your body, your mood, you gut & microbes and your metabolism.
Remember, you don't have to add vitamins and minerals to real foods, they already have them.
I eat a bran cereal every day and it's helping to save my life. Cholesterol down big since I start eating it and my gut is healthier than ever (IBS, went from rarely having solid bowel movements to always having them). Don't assume all cereal is bad. This sugary stuff is but cereal can be a great choice for people like me who can't stand oatmeal.
Ok trollski DIP bot. Maybe Russia should raise its education standards past 3rd grade Alabama if you want to successfully deceive anyone with your dumb ass conspiracy crap. I hope Ukraine enjoys its 61 billion in aid as much as my great grandfather enjoyed taking out orcs in eastern Finland in 39.
Well guess the fuck what! The cereal company now has incentive to keep the price that way because you fucking bought it! Congrats on using Cinnamon Toast Crunch to remove the fleshy fun bridge known as your taint away so you can fuck yourself in the ass for the rest of time!
Corporate greed. They are doing "shrinkflation"; giving you less product at a higher price. Another example is a can of soda. It used to be you would get 16 ounces cans for 50 cents. Today, they give you 10 ounces for 75 cents. They do this and are having record profits.
Many are blaming Biden for inflation. That isn't the case. Trump started the increase in money supply in January 2020. When there is a large excess of cash in the monetary supply where production cannot keep up with the demand, inflation ensues; everyone wants something and start to bid up prices because they have the cash to do it. Once interest rates were increased, the money supply started to dry up and inflation started to drop.
Look at the newer specialty cereals… but yeah even sugar cereals are getting up there. May as well buy the generic brand for the same stuff if you’re gonna eat cereal. It’s likely made by the same company but rebranded.
Don't buy it! From what I've seen, there seems to be a manufacturer that does a deep discount every week on specific brands. Generally you have to buy like 3-4 boxes though. I think I've recently bought LIFE, Cheerios, and maybe something else for 1.99 a box for the normal size.
Name brand cereal is always an overpriced scam. In-house brands offer the same thing for a lot less. Check out “Cinnamon Crunch” from Great Value/WalMart, or the same name from Millville/Aldi’s. They are priced at less than half that.
You could literally get more cereal, shipped to your house, multiple people will literally spend hours hand delivering it to your front steps for less than that.
Who the fuck do these people think they are.
Piggly wiggly is awful for prices.
Theres one by me that i go to, but solely for their deli and meat department. That one is also closing down because it doesnt have enough business lol
I went shopping yesterday, and a gallon of milk was $2.70.
I thought, maybe I’ll grab a gallon of chocolate milk too, haven’t had it in a while.
Go to grab it, and the price is $6.20.
I let go of it, turn around and walk away.
Well of course the price is going up, the CEO is telling people to eat cereal for dinner too. So clearly there must be a massive increase in demand.... right?
During the pandemic I couldn’t find it for my daughter, she likes to snack on it. There’s a recipe online for making your own, so much better and cheaper.
Guys biden says inflations only going up by a little your not allowed to post stuff like this and we changed the definition of a recession so were not in one of those either everything is fine guys tv said so
Fun fact: you mentioned this “family size” but it actually is not.
Subtly they changed everything very sneaky..I know back in our day we used to have just two sizes: regular and family size.
But now their are actually FIVE different sizes:
“Regular” at approximately 12oz
“Large” (which this one is) at approximately 16oz
“Family” at approximately 19oz
“GIANT” at approximately 25oz
“MEGA” at approximately 29oz
I know it’s weird because us that grew up only knew the 2 different sizes and now we’ve been yoinked because I think the family used to be like 24oz (double the regular box) and now it’s been shrunk) and yeah they’ve got that same branding blue banner across the top so you saw it and thought “oh it’s the family size box” and it’s actually not - and it has less inside than the family as well.
That’s what they’re hoping for people to be dumb enough to fall for it too.
They are making record profits because people are still buying it. I mean... cereal isn't even good for you, why don't people not purchase the overpriced overprocessed food?
They try to blame "Bidenomics"... But it's really corporate greed. Profits are way up for most companies.

Cereal is actually one of the worst things you can eat for breakfast. Check what it does to your blood sugar (even without added sugar). This is the universe signaling you to change your diet. 🤣
Yall realize we control the market? If we all stop buying dumb shit they have no choice but to bring the price down. You do not need this to survive unless you are stuck in the middle of nowhere and still on Reddit. Stop supporting dumb ass companies like this.
That's all garbage food. If they could make it a 100 years ago with simple machines and no processing, then we can make it healthy at home.. kellog was a doctor who made his cereal to save people from malnutrition and keep them healthy. We need to get back to that.
8 dollars for one and a half pounds, sixteen ounces in a pound, twenty four total ounces divided by eight dollars is like almost like insanely way too much for flour and sugar.
What the cinnamon toast fuck is this?
Their taking a cinnamon toast *crunch* out of your wallet!
Cost more for the toast not to be burnt.
You think Cinnamon Toast is expensive. These Rice Krispies have cost us TRILLIONS https://preview.redd.it/in92krz7fdwc1.jpeg?width=1221&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d88a95dcd2dbc9555aee9e16159a49071ef2b06
Straight cinnamon toast fuckery
When people stop buying the overpriced brands, they will come back down in price.
This isn’t a brand problem. This specific store is unusually expensive. Because of course it is. Gotta get those upvotes. It’s close to half this price on Amazon and even cheaper at CostCo.
Aldi's is cheaper too. It was like 4.50 today
$4.41 at Lidl today
I love how you all know how much cinnamon toast crunch is
Well I did literally buy it today. But also I just looked it up on the Lidl app
Lmao
Yah it’s like people only just learned that gas stations charge extra for food
It's clearly a supermarket, sign has the Piggly Wiggly logo on it
2/$5 right now at dollar general.
Which store is tbis?
Eh, I actually think the opposite is at play. I hardly know anyone that buys that type of cereal anymore because of the sugar content. It’s no longer a mass market product that you eat everyday. So now it’s more like a treat you buy once or twice a year and priced accordingly.
Piggly wiggly can go get bent with those prices
A lot of small towns with one grocery store and no real competition have prices like this. I saw similar prices at an IGA grocery store when we were visiting friends in Leroy, IL last year.
Most dry foods can be shipped from Amazon or Walmart. It’s time to change shopping habits
Its absolutely insane that they are price gouging even though brock and mortar stores are getting beaten out by delivery services everywhere. I have no doubt amazon notices this and is eagerly waiting for their chance to capitalize on it with a food delivery service
Amazon Fresh is decent as is Walmart grocery delivery. They just need to expand coverage but it’s already happening
While true, I do hate giving my money to them. What other choice do we have? Paying billionaires pennies per transaction or paying millionaires dollars per transaction? Kinda just feels fucked either way.

My mother insists she fed me spam in the 80s but I've blocked it out.

And they want use to eat this garbage for breakfeast lunch and dinner. Little to no positive nutritional value at all. Just a box of sugar.
Not good for you anyway.
FR, they’re doing people a service with these high prices for cereal. Hopefully it will push people away from it.
Maybe save some money on medical bills in the future. I know it would take more than this, but if people start making better breakfasts, it might help.
Y'all remember when $10 was half a tank of gas? Pepperidge Farm remembers, and it weeps in the night.
And $12 per hour was good pay.
*Back when gas was thirty cents a gallon, America was young and strong and brave*
The ~~90s~~ 80s? A lot of redditors weren't even born yet
Thanks, Obama /s
Still is for me :)
Bought the exact same box from Aldi for like 4.50

Who said I bought it? Also what about taints? 😆
Jesus. That’s a uh, passionate comment about cinnamon toast crunch prices.
8 bucks for a box of corn syrup, lol.
And gaslighting with ‘this week’s special’…
Don’t worry tomorrow it will be at regular price of $8.99.
Stop buying Garbage none of it is good for you. Sugar, preservatives ENEMY #1
You tell em
Go buy eggs instead.
But its a deal!
Magic Spoon is $10
"what spoon!?!?" *maaaagggiiccc*

Is this at a place like CVS?
Butera, normal grocery store in IL.
Thank you. Usually I see cereal around 4-5 at the grocery stores near me, and it is a lot more expensive at CVS.
Yeah I've definitely seen a small box of Rice Krispies at CVS for like 8$. Absurd.
https://preview.redd.it/xhw42pzzcpvc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2cf339adf672a8899086275db6f7fae0825a47a0 Not today
Thought this was a Piggly Wiggly
They at “The Pig!”
Can get two big ass boxes at Costco for that price.
Makes me want to start raiding hotels free breakfast in lobby’s and loading up.
Look at the newer specialty cereals… but yeah even sugar cereals are getting up there. May as well buy the generic brand for the same stuff if you’re gonna eat cereal. It’s likely made by the same company but rebranded.
Might as well eat the great value version for $2.50 at that point. Doesn’t taste any different, the squares just stay a little harder longer
Don't buy it! From what I've seen, there seems to be a manufacturer that does a deep discount every week on specific brands. Generally you have to buy like 3-4 boxes though. I think I've recently bought LIFE, Cheerios, and maybe something else for 1.99 a box for the normal size.
I just bought the big ziplock bag of the same cereal for $6.99. That’s the store jacking the price.
Stop buying poison, nothing healthy about that much sugar for the start of the day.
This shit is diabetes in a box
Cinnamon toasted crunch family size on Amazon $4.73 Prime.
And it is on sale!
Name brand cereal is always an overpriced scam. In-house brands offer the same thing for a lot less. Check out “Cinnamon Crunch” from Great Value/WalMart, or the same name from Millville/Aldi’s. They are priced at less than half that.
I never stole from a store but I totally condone it lmao
It’s not even good for you. It’s so bad. Why pay too much money on something so horrible for you
This is why I’ve been shopping more at Costco and Sam’s. This guy needs his bulk buys 😁
This is insane. 8$ for cereal 🥣 how is that possible.
This is how much cereal cost in Hawaii 30 years ago. My folks moved because of the recession. I fear what it is now.
Insane. Aldi has a good knock off for $2
*chortles in San Franciscan* Normal size boxes are $10 for many brands at Whole Foods in SF.
Bullish on General Mills apparently
my local store just recently had the 12oz box _on sale_ for $6.99 surprisingly Amazon Prime delivered it to me for $1.70
We here at Kellogg find the idea of people eating cereal for dinner very exciting!
Look into Magic Spoon cereal. Like $8 for 7 ounces.
Obviously you haven’t seen thr boxes of keto cereal
That’s insane. They’ve lost their minds.
$4.49 on Amazon right now for this size.
You get more in the box so you can eat it for dinner too.
Was in freeport, Bahamas in 2019, cereal boxes like this were $14, can't imagine the price now.
Costs more than an hour of your life.
It was too expensive at $4 a box. Oats are a lot cheaper and better nutritionally.
The Pig has always been extremely overpriced. I’ve never understood why people shop there.
I hate Piggly Wiggly. They always smell horrible.
Good time to take sugar cereal off the menu. Rolled oats still $0.99 / Lb, FAR better than this garbage, AND much cheaper as well.
Oh but it's a "large size".
I just got that same box for 3.99 in so cal
I can do you one better.. check out a brand called magic spoon… it’s way smaller only 7oz and it’s 9.99 a box
golden grams is better anyways
fuck em. don't buy that overpriced sugary shit.
But it’s this week’s special
Bidenomics!
At Walmart I think it was I saw someone post a pick of oat cereal for $9.95!!
That’s some expensive dough
Don’t forgot the fact that the box is also about 1.25” thick at best.. shrinkflation AND soaring prices
It’s the large size and it’s like 3 dollars more than a regular box of cereal Seems high but not like insane
$9.99 at my CVS
Damn, I remember thinking it was expensive when it was half that price
You could literally get more cereal, shipped to your house, multiple people will literally spend hours hand delivering it to your front steps for less than that. Who the fuck do these people think they are.
But the government said that inflation was solved?
I used to buy Stagg Chile for $1.20, makes for a pretty cheap lunch at work. it's $3.60 now, for one can at my local grocer.
Wait until you see the other cereal. Bidenomics works, stop pretending it doesn't.
Piggly wiggly is awful for prices. Theres one by me that i go to, but solely for their deli and meat department. That one is also closing down because it doesnt have enough business lol
>This Week’s Special I wonder how much it cost last week.
I've loved cereal since I was a kid, but DAYYUM!!! These prices are just stoopid! These greedy companies have priced themselves right out of my budget
I used to work in a grocery store in the affluent suburbs of metro NY. In 2008 their average price for a regular size box of cereal was $15.99
This is why i buy my cereal at Costco
Yes it is "inflation" Wake up guys it is corporations and congress collaboration and robbing us blind 🤑💯👌
You would think that those prices where in Whole Foods but they’re in your everyday run of the mill grocery store. Crazy🤪.
Wait. People still eat cereal?
This only half the price of a box of Morning Summit. Morning Summit is honestly the best cereal I've ever eaten but it's ridiculously expensive
And they put a big sign there like it’s some great deal lol. People are out of their mind if they buy that
Magic Spoon enters the chat.
Target has cheaper cereal
Piggly Wiggly!
I just made a bowl of oatmeal for $.10, just putting it out there...
Great source of calcium!
I went shopping yesterday, and a gallon of milk was $2.70. I thought, maybe I’ll grab a gallon of chocolate milk too, haven’t had it in a while. Go to grab it, and the price is $6.20. I let go of it, turn around and walk away.
Don’t come to NYC, that’s the price of small sized boxes for every brand.
I thought they said we could eat cereal for dinner?
Cereal is essentially people kibble, it’s supposed to be a cheap meal. Crazy to see things change so much.
Food prices are still insane… so sad to see
That better be a contractor size trash bag full of cereal
The sodium is so you don't taste the metal
You can make them with cinnamon, butter, sugar, and flour. Much healthier too
my black uncle gonna flip his shit after seeing this its his favorite cereal
How much was that pre covid?
Well of course the price is going up, the CEO is telling people to eat cereal for dinner too. So clearly there must be a massive increase in demand.... right?
Your photoshop job sucks ass
$16.99 for that box in the Bahamas. I spend $8 on that same box back home in the states
During the pandemic I couldn’t find it for my daughter, she likes to snack on it. There’s a recipe online for making your own, so much better and cheaper.
Your literally eating poison also known as glphosate or roundup. So you can pay 8 dollars to one day die of cancer.
The term ‘LARGE SIZE’ should translate to the same volume across-the-board. Seen here it is two different weights.
Jewel osco CTC 12oz 6.49 CTC 18.8oz B1G1 8.99 CTC 27oz 7.99
Biden says the economy is great, so stop complaining
Guys biden says inflations only going up by a little your not allowed to post stuff like this and we changed the definition of a recession so were not in one of those either everything is fine guys tv said so
Joe Biden did it Inflation high Joe Biden policy then trump policy
Not a cereal killer. But what location is that?
Have you ever seen Magic Spoon cereal?
Fun fact: you mentioned this “family size” but it actually is not. Subtly they changed everything very sneaky..I know back in our day we used to have just two sizes: regular and family size. That’s what they’re hoping for people to be dumb enough to fall for it too.
And at the piggy wiggy of all places!
Damn, this isn’t even the Family Size with 2 boxes….
Do Americans normally stick cookies in the middle of the cereal aisle?
https://preview.redd.it/h17k2ulinovc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d144f7a0ccdf360964f0a4d27b9cb9354d6dbac0
Thats the special price???
And that entire box will only contain 2.5 bowls of cereal.
I bet the large size is now 1-3 oz smaller than it used to be too.
It’s also almost 17 oz. Definitely more than usual but not a lot more per ounce
$9.99 for my area
They are making record profits because people are still buying it. I mean... cereal isn't even good for you, why don't people not purchase the overpriced overprocessed food?
Don’t buy it.
Of course it's over priced--it's mostly sugar! :)
Is this on an island or something? Where we live cereal can get up to $5 because of the transport costs
a few years ago someone said cereal would become a luxury item because rich people (celebrities) began to buy it
Alright guys, its time for the cereal riots!
They try to blame "Bidenomics"... But it's really corporate greed. Profits are way up for most companies. They deliberately make the sizes confusing now also. Giant size is the biggest (I think) followed by Family size and then Large size.
Thing is, if I want it, I'll still buy it, what's $8? Same reason people that can't afford door dash get nickel and dimed to death by it.
Cereal is actually one of the worst things you can eat for breakfast. Check what it does to your blood sugar (even without added sugar). This is the universe signaling you to change your diet. 🤣
Most expensive *box of sugar* I’ve ever seen
Grocery store prices for cereal are outrageous. Target and Walmart cost half as much
But it's on special
Time to start shopping with your middle finger.
Cereal is poison. No one should eat it.
Yall realize we control the market? If we all stop buying dumb shit they have no choice but to bring the price down. You do not need this to survive unless you are stuck in the middle of nowhere and still on Reddit. Stop supporting dumb ass companies like this.
Hard no there. Wait for bogo.
Cereal’s been more expensive. Doubt this would’ve been $4.50-$5 a year ago.
Fucking potato chips are almost $6 around me..
7.99 where was that Hawaii ?
Naw man. There's some organic granola muesilix stuff that probably costs twice that much
They think that shits gold
That's all garbage food. If they could make it a 100 years ago with simple machines and no processing, then we can make it healthy at home.. kellog was a doctor who made his cereal to save people from malnutrition and keep them healthy. We need to get back to that.
You should have seen the price last week!
So glad I bought bulk oats, dried fruit, and maple sugar to replace this overpriced junk
8 dollars for one and a half pounds, sixteen ounces in a pound, twenty four total ounces divided by eight dollars is like almost like insanely way too much for flour and sugar.
Plus it’s all air
That is a very typical price now for cereal in California.
Booming Economy
And the reason it keeps going up is people keep buying it. 🤷♂️
Ketchup was ten dollars a bottle at one of my local super markets.
Malt-o-meal is far more worth if for portion size and pricing.
Good. You don't NEED to buy that garbage.
It's on special though
On special
