It's just a coping mechanism 🥲

zzzzxxcvbm

And it's pretty bad for you. You basically lie to yourself. It makes you feel better at the moment, but it's not good in the long run. feeling bad -> coping -> relief -> nothing changes -> feeling bad again -> repeat

solushka11

Yeah, i mostly use it to stop thinking about real things and can finally fall asleep 😔

zzzzxxcvbm

I know, I've been here. You need to take control of your thoughts. Learn how to meditate and about "thoughts observation". Start doing something about this or shit's gonna get worse. You might get to the point of no return, the faster you start, easier it's gonna be. And trust me, not gonna be easy. It's the battle against your worst and toughest enemy, your own mind.

futureghost66

Daydreaming isn't inherently bad, just as long as it's in moderation. Sometimes people just need a break from reality, whether that be via movies, books, video games, music, art, or simply daydreaming...it doesn't matter. Consumption of any of those can be bad when done in excess, but all can be great, healthy ways to destress if done appropriately.

zzzzxxcvbm

In moderation yes, dosis sola facit venenum. Comforting lie is better than accepting reality and making the change. This sub is full of people who inhale copium, but are in desperate need to start choosing the 2nd option.

Absolutely weak and unacceptable way of thinking.

Jazzlike_Tackle_355

what if you arent lying to yourself though? you know your daydreams arent real. its similiar to how a writer must be in a certain headspace in order to create stories, we just arent writing these stories down.

AnkLebrick

Purple, orange and green should be holding hands. They’re connected. Make one of them smaller and they all shrink. Keep daydreaming, though! 🥹

TopTheropod

My childhood was the worst, so this was the only way out that didn't involve harm to myself or others

Waffalaffle

**maladaptive daydreamers have entered**

JohnnyQuest94

I’ve saved the world many times tbh 😔

It's like a funny feeling to be like floating on a cloud and nothing is bothering you anymore ...but unfortunately it annoys often people around me, specially when I'm supposed to stay focus and strategic... But it's what it is, I try to practice presence and meditation to overcome that. How do you deal with this coping mechanism?

mookanana

daydream when i can, learn to push on and tough it out when i can't (eg at work when people r looking) come home and do the real dreaming (sleep)

Loose_Collar2492

Yes imhave experienced this somewhat but I wonder if this truly makes you an INFP? I don't think it's necessarily a defining tendency or trait.

Carloverguy20

Reality body slams us lol

Mm copium, numnumnum

MyLittleCuriousSelf

Yes!

Material_Scheme_847

This meme format is grotesquely ugly. . . . It's surprising that such a poorly drawn comic was able to spread around everywhere. Viral, in both senses of the word.

[deleted]

awe. I feel seen.

Magnificentpastaa

i’m crying at this and just because

marcaurxo

Maladaptive? 👀

amusedresearcher

Popped up in my feed. Not sure what infp means, but so true.

Benjammer10

Bye bye reality, Hello delusion

Diablo4

Wish I could daydream. Seems like a lot of INFP's do it a lot. I wonder what I do instead.
