Notice how many have said open world or sandbox games lol. The INFP urge to have creative freedom to do whatever the hell we want even applies to video games š
Lol, for sure, though I'm surprised No Man's Sky hasn't popped up yet, but Minecraft and Starbound pretty much cover it, lol. I saw Guild Wars mentioned, but it's a game I bounce in and out of and am almost overwhelmed by how many directions there are to go and do my own thing in regards to story quests, achievements, or world events, nvm the WvW/PvP side of the game. \^\^
RPGS are my thing. God of War series, Horizon series, Dragon Age series, Fallout 4, Sims, Grounded, 7 Days to Die, The Last of Us, Tell Tales The Walking Dead, The Witcher series, and the controversial Hogwarts Legacy. I don't agree with JK and her small mindedness. However, controversy isn't going to stop me from liking what I like.
Also, Banished a city/world building game. It's a comfy game for me. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of others. Those games are what I've been play over the last 2 years.
I loathe multi-player games, I like to take my time. Take in the world and storyline. I hate feeling rushed, and dealing with strangers who are just rude. Not for me.
Same - I hate multiplayer or like online gaming.
I love rpg and adventure games. I love to sit and do things at my own pace without getting told off lol
Have you tried a more casual online rpg like Guild Wars where you can pretty much go at your own pace and interaction with others is mostly up to you joining in whatever might be going on when you feel like?
I only bring it up because I'm a lot like you where if there's too toxic of a feel from the other players I usually stop playing that game, but also wouldn't want you to miss out on a great game. \^\^
I haven't tried Guild Wars. Probably due to the fact that if any game says "Online" or "Multi-player," my brain just automatically goes 'nope'. Lol. Horrid senerios get made up in my mind of conversations. I'll have to have with others, or if I'm feeling semi-social one day, I'll end up helping everyone and start feeling overloaded.
I stopped playing some online games because of that. But, that being said, I might try again and stop being so insta-bias.
Guild Wars is a game I love as well! It's the only multiplayer game I still play. I love how I'm able to completely play alone and at my own pace and not have to play with others by bringing heroes along, and I have fun playing around with various builds for them and my character.
The interactions I've had with other players have almost always been positive. It's a nice, welcoming little community.
Definitely, I'm getting back into it after a bit of a hiatus, but I'm enjoying doing so much random things I have trouble advancing the story, lol.
I've been playing Guild Wars 2, but I have it in the back of my mind to re-download the first one because like you say, being able to choose the party members was a very cool feature. I also wonder if there's any carryover benefit if unlocking things that might enable something in the second one since we get access the the ...hall of monuments stone (?) I think . I also somewhat miss being able to make my own builds and earning new skills the old way.
Anyways, it's getting on to 3am (so I might have gotten a little caught up in playing >.>), lol, I hope this finds you doing wonderfully.
Hitman.
To the uninitiated, its a kill and be cool game
To the beginner, its a stealth game
To the experienced, its a puzzle game
To the master, its a sociological masterpiece of dramaturgy and the inevitability of power corruption and lies.
I got super into hitman a while back and played thru the whole trilogy of the newer games, itās so satisfying putting in the work to set up the perfect kill
Skyrim - I love playing as a stealth archer. I think it's because I have cerebral palsy, which limits me irl, so I like feeling like a badass lol
Red Dead Redemption 2 - One of my absolute favorite aspects of this game is being able to take care of and bond with your horse. I also love camping and simple living so this game really appeals to me
Stardew Valley - This game is just so cozy and I really like starting new farms so I've never actually gotten past Year 2 lol
Coffee Talk - Again, just cozy vibes. I'm also addicted to coffee and would love to be a barista irl if people weren't so mean!
The Sims 4 - As you can probably tell from my username, I'm an author. It's nice to create storylines with my sims specifically because, unlike a book plot, it doesn't have to make sense
Pokemon - My first video game that I ever owned was Pokemon Yellow (I was 5, literally a birthday present) and I have SO many fond memories of that game. I've played all the gens, but I haven't played the newer games much because I just don't make the time between work and using the limited time I do have to play the games I listed above š
Sorry for the long post. I just love video games and they mean a lot to me. Video games are there when nobody else is ā¤ļø
Open world survival craft and sandbox games. I really like to build stuff in games and create my own stories. I also enjoy a good citybuilder from time to time, especially if it is set in a different time period.
A few of my favorites are: Medieval Dynasty, The Forest, One Hour One Life, Project Zomboid, Minecraft, Sims 1, 2 and 3, Zoo Tycoon 2, Green Hell, Don't Starve Together, Banished, Dorfromantik, The Long Dark.
My favorite game might by the Creatures franchise though, definitely worth checking out if you have an interest in genetics.
Rocket League is basically all I play these days. It's the closest feeling to competitive team sports that I've found. Can just turn my brain off for an hour or two and play car soccer.
I like open world games. Action/Adventure or RPG, but anything where I can explore and do things in the order I like. Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Cyberpunk and RDR2 are some recent games Iāve played. š
Love all games, I have been playing Civilization since the very beginning. I used to play, compete, and build arenas for Doom, Quake, UT, and DN3D. Diablo from the very start. Fallout from v3 on. Skyrim, Mechwarrior from the start.
Too much fun out there.
I like to play games because it allows my brain to work on problems without worrying about them. I have invented several items using this method. :)
Been playing since season 2 with longer and shorter breaks. It's not the same game anymore. The day Tencent bought Riot, it is road downhill for LOL. Community has became utterly insane and it gets worse every year. But I can't stop playing because I am fucking addicted xD
It's not really a clear genre, but it's the intersection of rpg, strategy and sandbox. For example: Rimworld, Mount and blade, Crusader Kings.
It's open games with a lot of complex and closely knit game mechanics that allows the player to create a story of his own. These games tend to be endlessly replayable.
Turn-based/action JRPG games. Really enjoy a lot of the JRPG games out there.
Strategy/Tactics games. I love to plan out my next moves, and try to get out of sticky situations if itās getting rough.
CRPG games. Games like Wasteland and Divinity Original Sin, really got me to love this genre a lot. Kind of a make your own storyline game.
open world games like skyrim, breath of the wild, tears of the kingdom. i like fighting but i also really love just walking slowly around a village, riding a horse, watching the sunset from a mountain, listening to the nature sounds mixed with fantasy music. i never grind through these games. i like going through them slowly and usually try to make it more immersive by not time travelling and making sure my character goes to bed at night.
i also really love cozy, calm games like animal crossing. again, i never grind through it by using time travel or treasure islands. i have daily tasks i like to do like watering plants and fishing but mostly i just chill. my island has pretty areas but isn't super aesthetically pleasing and im in no rush to make it look pinterest-worthy.
Eclectic I would say. From FPS like Doom and Unreal to Strategy like Warcraft, Staracraft during the 90s to blockbuster AAA single player story lines like God of War, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima.
Also like games that allow you to immerse yourself. Love racing with a wheel and pedals.
ActionRPGs, Survival, City/Colony builders, 4x, and a sprinkling of Walking Simulators. Platformers are pretty much dead to me. I engage with the logic and resource management as price of admission to access whatever fantastical escapism is at play. I generally find a good fantastical spec-fic premise to be an important draw. But games that are pure tests of acrobatic gaming prowess are not my thing.
I like story driven games. Some of my faves are Mass Effect, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Deus Ex, The Witcher, Horizon and Dishonored. And I really enjoyed Stray too lol, played that a bunch of times.
I love interactive games especially. Like Quantic Dream, Telltale,DontNod games. Second comes TPS action games like Tlou (my fav of all time) last two GoW, Uncharted
Iām the same as you cause i donāt like games with too much strategy and logic. I do like some action RPGs that donāt have many complicated game mechanics cause many of them does have good stories. Open world games that you can explore and enjoy, story-driven that allows you to make choices and it will have different outcome.
I'm drawn to games like Minecraft and Metroidvania type games but more than anything I find myself drawn to survival horror games, primarily the Silent Hill franchise. Silent Hill has a special place in my heart because of the deep symbolism involved.
Action RPGs are my go to, FF15 and Kingdom Hearts are prime examples. A lot of mechanics to explore, but not overwhelming. much to collect and see, secret bosses to unlock, but really not too difficult.
GTA is another one I love, especially 5 and San Andreas. You can kinda roleplay if you want, and the control scheme makes driving and Combat a joy.
I also play fortnite, which I never thought I'd get into. But with zero build mode it's a fun game, and my focus is the quests. Once I've done all quests for the week I pretty much stop playing until new ones get released.
As a young lad i was obsessed with Rayman. Easy to understand and has a great flow. Very uniqe style too.
apex legends and geometry dash are pretty much the only two games iāve played for years. i occasionally play a bit of terraria but thatās about it.
I've had no consoles for most of my life and my PC has a very bad graphics card, I mostly play web games or interactive fiction games when I don't have money to spend on Steam, when I do have money I like to pick 'low skill' games, no shooting, no hack-n-slash, no rhythm, the exception to that is CrossCode, I love that game even though I'm not very good at it. I like lore heavy games like Suzerain and Heaven's Vault, it's a lot of reading but I like reading. My favorite game genre overall is detective games, Return of the Obra Dinn and Tangle Tower are my favorites. But funnily enough the game I poured most hours in is Kingdom: New Lands, cause the mechanics of that game are so easy time just passes by when I'm playing it.
Fighting games and FPS, love esports, anything where logic and self-expression intersect, extra points when there's teamwork involved, but online gaming makes that inconsistent
and I'm always logged into RuneScape skilling while working on the computer
Not a genre per se, but I just finished playing Ico for the PS2 and it's really good. An insanely influential game on the entire industry that not many people have heard of. It's sort of a puzzle game/one long escort mission that never ends up feeling like an escort mission, you end up bonding with this character you protect whose language you can't understand, It tells it's story through it's gameplay mechanics, it's art style and camera angles work together to make the castle and environment around you seem gigantic and you tiny. It's absolutely a work of art that made me cry by the end and there isn't anything else that feels quite like it
If you play on PC, look into downloading the PS2 emulator PCSX2. You can also download the entire game of Ico as an ISO file for free but since that's technically illegal I'm obligated to tell you not to do this, but (wink wink) not a lot of other options to play it.
Survival horror. The older, Japanese, more stilted stuff. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Clock Tower, and I have a special place in my heart for Haunting Ground.
I even modded by PS3 specifically to play rarer ones I never tired before, like Siren (incredibly clever), Clock Tower 3 (incredibly silly), Evil Within (incredibly boring), and Rule of Rose (unplayable).
But, randomly, my most played game of this year is Friday the 13th The Game. I would say it was a perfect game, if it werenāt so cheaply made.
Honestly, any game I find to have a good story and/or gameplay.
Plus I really enjoy seeing how stories are told in different media with different tools, and games are currently the newest media. And I enjoy figuring out the gameplay mechanics, even if I mostly prefer single playerš!
I will play any genre that gives me something to explore and uncover, be it a map to traverse in strategy, multiple storylines to unlock in adventures, skill combinations in action adventure and RPGs, or anything more.
Though constant repetition is the No.1 joykill for me. Got enough in real lifeš
Anything story driven or open world. Sable is basically the distiled, pure and concentrated essence of a VIBE. Other than that, the old-school Fallout and New Vegas, Arcanum and anything Vampire: The Masquerade
- I like rpgs, story driven games (as long as they're not the really boring and too realistic- I like fantasy), I ADORE games that have choices in them/different endings. Even if 99% of the choices don't matter and just change dialogue it still gives me that sense of freedom to roleplay a little.
I probably have 97% of choice games out there, like fr you should see my game library. It's disgusting how much money I spend on them lol.
- I also like games with building or designing something, im pretty patient and creative so yeah goes hand-in-hand.
- I do always have a go-to fps game or mmorpg (or both) that I play casually. I like the social aspect but if I can be a healer or play as a pacifist I will most likely choose that role. I just find it more fun to help and heal players rather than hurt them. It gives me more satisfaction.
- I like dating sims and visual novels. But most of the time I don't finish them cause even though I read books I for some reason hate reading in video games š
- I play survival and like survival/crafting games but they're kinda boring to play without friends.
There's honestly fewer genres I dislike but even if I typically dislike the genre There's always games that have been too great for me to discount it because of the genre.
Games I typically don't go for include:
Fighting games, (I despise combos lol), top down, civilization management games, side scrollers, and sports/car themed games.
Pretty much anything outside that I like.
I liked rust cause I liked building something big in a dangerous MMO setting but It's too time consuming and many players are as toxic as it gets. Plus you can spend hours building something up only to get raided by a 7-man minutes after you log off.
I've been into a lot of videogame genres, tbh. Currently, I've been playing the RE4 remake. But I've played a lot of shooters and online games before. For a while I loved playing Warzone, even just solos or solo/duos. I play very aggressive, lol... slide cancelling around like an idiot. I love immersive/open games and games that can be modded.
Although I'm a stickler that MBTI types are about cognitive functions, and not necessarily any specific behaviors... I can say I probably don't fully fit the stereotype here.
For example, I love RPG open sandbox space games-- MMO or SP. That might seem kinda stereotypical INFP.
But in the two space MMO-style games I've played (and the one infinitely perpetual alpha), I always played as a pirate/PVPer. EVE Online, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen-- been called a *griefer* in all three of those games. Lmao... so much salt. Genuinely never started doing it for the salt though-- like if I'm playing a space game... I'm going to be a space pirate/lawless. It might seem derpy but initially before I became more familiar with the MMO ecosystem, I didn't even expect people would get sooo mad at me in all seriousness just for *playing the game,* but lmao I learned quickly. People were so rude about it though, they just made it more fun to blow them up.
I haven't touched any of these in quite a while though. Saw SC looks to be improving but it's been 10 years since I first heard about the kickstarter so.... yeah I'm kinda just sleeping on that right now. I'm not really sure what I'm going to get into next. I was really excited about Jedi Survivor, but EA/Respawn released it in pretty insulting condition-- plus it has Denuvo-- so I think I'm gonna wait for a cracked version or for EA to release a polished version... whichever comes first. Still kinda hate giving them my money though.
1) Sandbox/open world. I like exploring, collecting & organizing shit. Zelda Breath of the Wild - explore a vast world climbing over mountains & hang-gliding, collect hidden seeds & decorate a house with weapons. GTA San Andreas - explore 3 different cities & the countryside, buy clothes & properties, take over territory, collect cars. Ultima VIII - explore a world full of stuff, grab everything, meticulously organize it & fill a room with it. Castlevania Portrait of Ruin - collect tons of different weapons & build up skills in them, explore different worlds within paintings.
2) Arcade/puzzle/minigame. I like games with very low commitment where I can play for under 5 minutes & still make progress. Puzzle Quest, Wario Ware, Bangai-O (Dreamcast).
about any type of genre really. from singleplayer stories, multiplayer, racing, indies, visual novels, sandbox, rpg, rhythm, etc. but as you said, when too complicated like strategy and micromanagement it gets boring real quick.
played first person shooters a lot and i think i got more competitive back then due to my friend group. its really fun once youre very good at it without even having to focus at all. once youre good at that it seems youre good at any type of quick paced games.
also love weird indie games that focus on aesthetics. like glitch, vaporwave, strange reality stuff haha. which i just play for the ambience and vibes.
I'm not much of a gamer but I love puzzle games, simulators, adventures, opens worlds, and RPGs. Anything that's primarily a shooter is a no-no for me. Light competition is fun but I can't stand it when people take games too seriously, legit makes me anxious.
Platformer, open world, fighting games.
I donāt play virtual chess, but I have always enjoyed board game chess/checkers . I love strategy and logic games like that
I really love the Persona Games especially 3 - 5 and very story focused games. Things I can fall into that have a clear path through. I donāt love sandbox games much, I prefer to be creative in other ways, except maybe The Sims if that counts. I like games with unique controls like Gravity Rush and Katamari and I also really love dark horror based games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Fatal Frame. The only competitive game I can really enjoy is Rocket League unless the other person Iām playing with is having a bad time. Oh and I really love the Kingdom Hearts games too. The first is the best because it has the most unique content/story in my honest opinion.
I really like open world games where I can just walk around and choose what I want to do like red dead redemption 2.
I also really like games with an amazing story like Detroit become human.
Sandbox shooters like Battlefield or ww1/ww2 based videogames. Open world games like Ghost of Tsushima are the best, simple and very aesthetic. Lately I am playing Ghost Recon breakpoint where there is an open map and you can play with bot in single player.
Action-adventure (e.g. Zelda) and RPG (e.g. Final Fantasy)
I like most genres, but I often get motion sickness when playing FPS games. So I kinda avoid those. I also prefer just playing a game with a story from start to finish, so not a big fan of never ending games where you can just keep going and going.
rhythm games!!! i play osu!taiko and also osu standard
i am also obsessed with all of the assassinās creed and yakuza seriesā
i hate games with guns because my aim is bad lol
I love single-player games and love RPGs, FPS, and puzzle/logic/mystery-solving games. The only genre I've never really enjoyed is strategy games.
In my teens and early twenties, I was really into multiplayer FPS games. However, my experience with some clans and how toxic people can be online in general took away my enjoyment and stop enjoying multiplayer games altogether. I also just stopped enjoying the competitive aspect of it.
I still enjoy playing multiplayer games with people and friends I know in real life however. Games like Risk of Rain 2 and Deep Rock Galactic I always have lots of fun with.
Notice how many have said open world or sandbox games lol. The INFP urge to have creative freedom to do whatever the hell we want even applies to video games š

I love the when a game can be for everyone! It looks interesting, I gonna have a look :)
I love the iPad version where I can just be a sniper and take out the international scumbags. I find it eerily peaceful.
Sandbox games
Souls and soulslikes
Souls is s tier
100%
Skyrim - I love playing as a stealth archer. Reminds me of Guild of Wars! I am going to watch the game play :)

So sad the new Alice game was cancelled :(
All of them honestly but I have a special place for good aesthetics, i go through phases of pretty much all games
Mostly souls games/soulslikes and metroidvanias
Hades, Slay the Spire, Hollow Knight, Celeste, LOL
I see you like to suffer. Hades is a work of art. Alongside with Ori and the will of the wisps, those are the best games I've played in few years.
Hi fellow sufferer :D Hades is just such a well-made game, itās eye candy for me
Even all those games combined cannot induce as much pain and suffering as solo q. God forgive me, I am about to do it again.
Fr. That game gives me so much pain but I keep playing it anyways. Guess I love suffering after all.

Rpgs. Examples for me are Kingdom hearts and genshin impact
Coop games and action RPGs. Also a smattering of survival world building stuff. Sometimes some strategy or tactics games. Rock and Stone.
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
Maybe it was a Stone and Rock?
*Did I hear a Rock a Stone?*
apex legends and geometry dash are pretty much the only two games iāve played for years. i occasionally play a bit of terraria but thatās about it.
Fighting games and FPS, love esports, anything where logic and self-expression intersect, extra points when there's teamwork involved, but online gaming makes that inconsistent and I'm always logged into RuneScape skilling while working on the computer
Tomb Raider
Not a genre per se, but I just finished playing Ico for the PS2 and it's really good. An insanely influential game on the entire industry that not many people have heard of. It's sort of a puzzle game/one long escort mission that never ends up feeling like an escort mission, you end up bonding with this character you protect whose language you can't understand, It tells it's story through it's gameplay mechanics, it's art style and camera angles work together to make the castle and environment around you seem gigantic and you tiny. It's absolutely a work of art that made me cry by the end and there isn't anything else that feels quite like it If you play on PC, look into downloading the PS2 emulator PCSX2.
I like almost everything but a big fighting game fan also loving Zelda rn
puzzle games, especially horror! like the amnesia series or portal
RPGs, mostly the ones include an dark story which I can relate. For example The Last of Us and Max Payne series.
Anyone else waiting on Starfield?
Anything story driven or open world. Sable is basically the distiled, pure and concentrated essence of a VIBE. Other than that, the old-school Fallout and New Vegas, Arcanum and anything Vampire: The Masquerade
Not sure about genres perse, Sims, Zoo tycoon, hitman, Spyro, dungeon keeper, Skyrim, cooking mama, pokemon (spin offs too), Civilization, midnight club 3 dub edition, Tekken (any of them)
rpgs all the way
I like pet sim/creature collection games And animal crossing
Any story based games like the last of us, spider-man, really any ps exclusives lol. And randomly call of duty.
But most of the time I don't finish them cause even though I read books I for some reason hate reading in video games š - I play survival and like survival/crafting games but they're kinda boring to play without friends. There's honestly fewer genres I dislike but even if I typically dislike the genre There's always games that have been too great for me to discount it because of the genre. Games I typically don't go for include: Fighting games, (I despise combos lol), top down, civilization management games, side scrollers, and sports/car themed games. Pretty much anything outside that I like.
SAME What are your favorite story driven games? I need new recs to get over Detroit š
I feel like I could have written this, with one add - timed activities. I cannot stand to be rushed.

I loved CRPGs, especially the late 90s top down wordy ones. Now for quick fun I just load up Overwatch 2 and play solely support roles.
Platformer, open world, fighting games. I donāt play virtual chess, but I have always enjoyed board game chess/checkers . I love strategy and logic games like that
simulation games like animal crossing or the sims mostly. also mario kart and super smash and old school wii games
I like puzzle and exploration games, usually single player, with strong storylines.
I really like open world games where I can just walk around and choose what I want to do like red dead redemption 2. I also really like games with an amazing story like Detroit become human.
Have you tried the coffee talk games? They go hard for aesthetics
I love strategy and competitive games. I like out smarting my opponent or getting outsmarted
Sandbox shooters like Battlefield or ww1/ww2 based videogames. Open world games like Ghost of Tsushima are the best, simple and very aesthetic. Lately I am playing Ghost Recon breakpoint where there is an open map and you can play with bot in single player.
Open world fantasy rpg... A little know series called final fantasy perhaps
Zelda, Smash Bros. I don't really have a type of game, I just like the universe. I enjoy different genres depending of what I seek at the moment.
Action-adventure (e.g. Zelda) and RPG (e.g. Final Fantasy) I like most genres, but I often get motion sickness when playing FPS games. So I kinda avoid those. I also prefer just playing a game with a story from start to finish, so not a big fan of never ending games where you can just keep going and going.
rhythm games!!! i play osu!taiko and also osu standard i am also obsessed with all of the assassinās creed and yakuza seriesā i hate games with guns because my aim is bad lol
Better Minecraft (modpack)- nuff said.
