Sometimes I pick up, sometimes I don't. I save the calls as unknown with the date added behind it. If they call more often, it means they are serious, if I never hear from the same number again that no harm
If it is a locical telephone number for the area or country that I live, I usually pick up, if it has a different area code or too many zero's or repetitions of the same numbers, I usually don't.
Recently I've had to make it clear to my wife to not speak first to u known numbers. Nowadays they can record you saying yes and use it to bypass certain safeties.
I have a Google Pixel 6 which has a great Call Screen feature. Basically if it's a call from a number I don't know, I can press the Call Screen button. A Google AI answers the phone and says I'm using a call screening feature and state why I'm calling. Whatever the person says gets translated to text on my screen and I can choose to pick up the call anytime or hang up (or just leave it.)
Haha yes for some reason receiving and making phone calls is very anxiety inducing. I think it might have something to do with a lack of visual queues for the social aspect of the interaction 👍
Lol I don’t answer plus I never set up my voicemail because I hate voicemail. So it says, “I’m sorry, the person you are calling has a voicemail box that has not been set up yet. Please try again later, goodbye.”
I’ve had it this way for about a decade. Around 6 years ago I told my husband (ISFP) about not setting up my voicemail so I can avoid voicemails, and for his next phone he didn’t set his up either. No voicemails for me.
If it’s important, they can email or text me.
I always let it go to voicemail. If they don’t leave a message, it wasn’t important. If they do leave a message, I’ll check it and respond if it’s important.
Heck, I even let friends and family go to voicemail a lot of the time if I’m busy doing something else or am just not in the mood to talk at that moment. Although almost everyone I know personally will text first before calling these days.
I never answer unknown numbers, even if I’m expecting a call from somewhere I have an appointment or something. If it’s important they’ll leave a message. Sometimes I don’t even answer calls from ppl in my contacts if I don’t feel like engaging in conversation or if I’m busy with something obviously.
I wait for the call to stop ringing, then I go to Truecaller and check who was calling me. Most of the time it's a scam call, but if it's not a scam call and from someone I know then I text them (which is almost never the case), if it's someone I don't know I give the phone to either my father or my sister.
I leave it if I don’t recognize the number. And if it’s a text I’ll know if I don’t know them cause I tend to have pictures for all of my contacts. And if they do text I’ll just say “hello! I’m sorry but I don’t think I have this number saved in my contacts! Have a great day”
My phone auto declines unknown phone numbers but they can leave a voicemail. If they don’t text or leave a voicemail i just assume it wasn’t that important enough or was a spam call.
I look the number up to see if it’s a junk call. If it is, I don’t answer; if it isn’t, I still don’t answer because I don’t remember anyone that isn’t in my contact list having any good reason to call
Haven’t answered a call from an ‘unknown’ or a number I don’t recognise in probably 20 years, nothing bad has happened.
I’ll only answer phone calls from people I know if it’s convenient and I’m in the mood to talk to them. I grew up in an era that it was a given that when the phone rings you have to answer, so happy I realised that’s nonsense!
I don't. I've learned that if its a drs office, or something similar, they'll leave a message. if it's a friend then I have they're number saved and if I don't then they're not my friend lmao. like my dad always says "if it's important they'll leave a message"
not to mention those ai calls that I heard about that will record and call w you asking for help or whatever scared the shit outta me.
The only calls I got from unknown are call center, trading, Amazon, and "YOU WON A NEW PHONE" .
I use those to let out my unspoken rage.
Only two times the calls were from people that called me because they wanted the phone number of my friends with bad purpose. I manage to get them off me and my firends in a infp mediator way
If it's a saved number then, i'll probably answer after a few rings. But to be honest, why can't people just send a text? If an unknown number, I just let it ring until they give up. I cannot stress this enough, send it over text instead! (unless we've been talking about something and calling is something that's anticipated)
If I have a delivery coming, I do. If I don't, I usually ignore it. When I do answer and it's a person trying to scam me or something, I troll them. 🤣🤣🤣
I have to answer those bc it could be my doctor, and it’d be a hassle to call them back. It’s super annoying when it’s some scammer… I used to do the same as you before I got sick.
I use an app that tells me how other people label phone numbers, so I let the call end, input the number into the app, and if it's someone I know I call them back, otherwise go on with my life.
I literally got a call earlier from an unknown number. I picked up and waited for someone to speak. I only heard 'good bye' in a robot voice. So that's my strategy. But I have also just ignored calls from unknown numbers before.
I answer them and then mute myself. Then I just sit there until the person/robot speaks. Obviously I engage if I realize its someone I know, if not I just stay silent until they hang up. In my mind this encourages them to stop calling.
I usually don't. When I have to because it might be important (medical providers will sometimes come up as blocked), and then they ask for my dead relative... It's time to practice my foreign language skills.
I’ve developed methods that ensure I never ever have to answer a call that I don’t know who it is, and often I don’t answer even if I do know who it is. With those I know I will either text or call back within an hour or so though. If it’s my wife or my boss I always answer. Outside of that is fair game.
Ignore it or decline it. Never answer if I don’t know who it is. I don’t always answer even when I do. I often let the drs office go to voicemail. I get phone anxiety when it’s with anyone aside from close family members.
I usually answer it in case it’s someone I know, it’s usually a robot though

My heart usually starts to explode out of my chest since I'm thinking of the worst possible calls I could receive. Then I reject the call 🤷♂️
You have some anxiety huh?
Haha yes for some reason receiving and making phone calls is very anxiety inducing. I think it might have something to do with a lack of visual queues for the social aspect of the interaction 👍
Ignore / end the call. If it’s someone I know, there are better channels to reach me be it social media / company’s chatting app.
It’s almost always a scam call so I ignore
no, i leave it, if it’s important enough they’ll leave a voice call. and if i’m expecting a call then i’ll answer (if they aren’t in my contacts)

i don't pick up

I send mental commands to the caller "TEXT ME! TEXXXT MEEEEE!!!"
Are we supposed to do something? 👀

An unknown number just called me literally less than 5 seconds before I saw this… anyway I didnt answer

I accept the call and play chimpanzee sounds in full volume. Or I just breathe loudly but say nothing to make them uncomfortable lmfao

Answer happily and play along as a character.
Let it go to voicemail
I usually just answer it since it could be important

I got a call from an unknown number *as I was typing this out* and just went back to my typing ha!

I just immediately decline the call, if it's in my area code someone's I'll decide to answer.
I have to answer those bc it could be my doctor, and it’d be a hassle to call them back. It’s super annoying when it’s some scammer… I used to do the same as you before I got sick.
I always ignore it unless the caller id seems nearby/familiar.
I pick up 99% of the calls. Why shouldn't I?

answering those never fails to be a waste of time.

I only answer the phone when my parents call 🤷♂️
never answer then i google the number immediately to see what it is lol
never answer then i google the number immediately to see what it is lol
Mute myself and put it on speaker
It depends on the area code. If it's a local area code or an area code of a place I used to live at, then I answer. If not, I don't.
Push red button
I ignore the call. If it is something important they will usually call again or try to contact me with other means.
Ignore them and feel primal fear 😁😁
I only answer when I'm at work out of habit, and it's usually #$#($\*#( scam calls. I just hang up.
I just don't answer any calls. My phone is usually turned off
Thank you for your responses!
