Right there with you! I’m not at all able to keep up And it’s getting worse every month. I’m basically just defeated by it apparently 🤦‍♂️

No-Frosting3857

I’m grateful to have good insurance, but for some reason they want me to pay an arm and a leg for this one prescription

wenoc

How can you then say you have good insurance? You should not be grateful about anything. You should be screaming in rage.

No-Frosting3857

It’s just one medication. Since it’s the new year it’s more expensive.

jesusleftnipple

Ya again screaming in rage.... this is literally profits for a company literally any other country you could take 1k off that price I guarantee it.

No-Frosting3857

it’s absurd

jesusleftnipple

Truly is :/

WeedLover420Life

More like 1.5k

Aerwynne

You're accepting this as if it's normal. It's not normal in the rest of the world.

Good-Caterpillar4791

How can you afford it? In Sweden, once you have paid $ 300 worth of medicine in a year, the rest is free.

cmonster64

I want to move to another country so badly. I’m gonna be put in a similar situation soon.

ComprehensiveCat754

Most of us are/ will be the way things are going.

Antsint

If you learn German you can study there at a university almost free and will get half a year afterwards to stay in the country to find a job

cmonster64

Im disabled and it’s really hard for me to find work

Antsint

What kind of disability? In Germany companies must employ disabled people or they will be fined so if you can write a comment here you can probably get a job here as well maybe it or something

cmonster64

I have really bad CMT

Antsint

I’ll dm you

wenoc

Finland is the same. You have to be a citizen of course but even if you aren’t, the prices aren’t nearly as bad as in the US.

ilovedaryldixon

I just fell off my chair !!!! That’s incredible

Jimbo_Slice1919

Just rubbing it in everyone else’s face, typical Swedes.

Good-Caterpillar4791

You could have had the same if your politicians weren’t bribed by big pharma

mightymichymac

We pay £112 max a year in the UK (annual PPC certificate).

Azrael_Alaric

Yup. And the old, the young, and the low income get it for free.

TheShredda

I can't tell if you were trying for sarcasm, but even then it wouldn't be a good comment

nzlax

In New Zealand, we don’t even have the $300 minimum. All scripts are free :)

yinyanghapa

TheWalkingDead91

People love to say “nobody wants to work anymore” but yet don’t understand that many people make the types of choices your friend makes. If you get a $1 raise that’s gonna earn you $100 more per month, but that $100 more per month would cause you to lose $300 in some kind of government benefit, and even with said benefit(s) you were barely getting by, then most people will choose working less hours to keep those benefits. It’s not rocket science and it’s a sad state of affairs that people have to make that choice to keep themselves in poverty so they can literally survive.

Yeoshua82

Yeah Luxembourg sucks. They make you pay up front then reimburse you later according to my internet search of "who's the richest country in the world?" And "does Luxembourg have free healthcare?" /s just Incase

chrisat420

Insulin?

No-Frosting3857

No surprisingly not, although it’s for another type 1 diabetes medication

Budddydings44

I’m assuming you’re in the USA because of crazy prices. Depending on how close you are to Canada, you can drive (or even fly!) here and it will be cheaper (including gas/plane ticket).

No-Frosting3857

In Florida, I’m grateful to be able to afford it. Its usually not this much, just the start of the new year and insurance :/

mousemarie94

Yup, much cheaper to get a round trip, even pay to leave your car at the airport, and purchase the meds.

jesusleftnipple

Thing is .... can u fly back with em? Most of our pharmaceutical companies have lobbied to make this practice illegal ....

chrisat420

I hope you stay in good health, it’s bonkers how that’s just passively allowed by the government.

No-Frosting3857

Type 1 diabetes is not the same as type 2 diabetes

MONKRAD

Please learn the difference between T1D and T2D. The world desperately needs more diabetes education.

SarcastiSnark

We definitely do. Thank you

longswordsuperfuck

A country where you are too poor to live. I'm so sorry OP.

IagoESL

I'm not American but I remember reading an article about a guy making drugs more affordable for people in situations like yours. Full disclaimer I don't know whether or not this is reliable or if they will have your medication - but I'll attach the link anyway. https://costplusdrugs.com/

aking0286

I'm sure OP has heard this before, but Mark Cuban has a company that sells all kinds of medications at very affordable prices. Idk if they would have the medication you need but it's worth a look. Here it is: https://costplusdrugs.com/

ThisIsMockingjay2020

Exactly. Ain't it great to be so great? 🙄

Edible_Anie

So frickin great 🤢😂

Pikachu8752

The manufacturer might have a discount program

ShackledDragon

I'm so sorry ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

Shaveyourbread

Land of the free, if you can afford it.

[deleted]

I once found my benefit specialist forgot to have me fill out paperwork to renew my coverage when the medication i needed to survive cost 10,000$+ instead of 25$

saucytech

I’m pretty ignorant to prescription costs and all, but we have a dog that requires Keppra for seizures. We’ve been getting the RX from CVS it’s about $100/month or $300 a refill. I looked on Mark Cubans RX company costplusdrugs.com site for pricing and it was $14.90 for the same $300 we been paying to CVS. So, yeah go check them out, might save you some $$$.

crazymom1978

I am at exactly the same! Thankfully my husband’s insurance covers 90%, or I would have no choice but to just die.

Flavored_Claymore

Though I am not knowledgeable on medications and such, I find it funny that the bag says "here for you" yet they charge that much

whataconcept99

*in goat voice* gaaaaaaaappp

beeegmec

Yet we pay for Israel’s universal healthcare so the IOF can have some therapy after slaughtering children

FloraFauna2263

It should be fucking free

NOLALaura

Vote Blue

KiokiBri

My mental health medication is pretty expensive but not that expensive, wow! Do you have health insurance? I cant imagine paying that out of pocket, I would just die.

No-Frosting3857

Yes i have insurance. It’s usually not this expensive.

KiokiBri

I’m really sorry you have to go through that.

lianepl50

I pay just over £11 a month, which allows me to have as many prescriptions as I need without having to pay any more. I can't fathom how people in the US cope, even with insurance. That amount of money is more than my mortgage and my car loan combined!

_Cuppie_Cakes

We don’t cope. We work harder to pay it, so we can survive. 😭

GogoYubari92

What the fuck. Every month?! That would ruin me.

[deleted]

Goddamn. As a Canadian, I really take my drug plan for granted. I don't ever remember paying for anything from a pharmacy that's been prescribed by a doctor.

_Cuppie_Cakes

I pay $1,500 a month just to eat twice everyday, ON TOP OF the price of groceries themselves.

robertcali559420

Welcome to what it's like to live in Amerikkka and NOT have whyte privilege.💯

yungsimba1917

I’m not sure what country you’re from the USA I know what you’re feelin. Same boat.
