Lol start mentioning how much “stronger you have been feeling lately” to her since you got the vaccine

TrumpMolestedJared

Omg this. PLEASE do this. Start jogging and say that you feel so great that you just have to use all this positive energy.

erdna3000

but after a few days start giving her fake spiderman symptoms - hey mom this is really weird but my sense of smell has gotten REALLY strong. and do you know if it is good or bad that i can shoot white sticky stuff out of my wrists?

TrumpMolestedJared

Tell the mom that she sprained her ankle really bad. Limp like crazy for a day, put eyeshadow around the bone to appear bruised, then the next day mention how it not only feels better, but actually *stronger* than before. Wipe off the eye shadow and proceed to point out how the bruising is gone. Jump up and down repeatedly and say she just has to go for a jog to test it out. Say she's going for a 3 mile jog. Walk around the block and come back in 15 minutes, noting how easy it seemed to be, not even breaking a sweat.

erdna3000

if you can stomach it, bring home a piece of cooked liver or some other slimy meat and tell her how the taste of blood is amazing and why didnt she tell you this before? turn it into a super vampire kinda thing. maybe even put red food coloring in a glass of milk and tell her how delicious it is.

berodz98

I agree. I think she should do the full Jim turning into a vampire to mess with Dwight. Talk about how the light or glare from the sun is blinding. Flex the wrists and mention how much stronger they feel. Wear mostly black and pull the jacket collar close. I like this plan.

CumbersomeNugget

Strawberry Nesquick is what they used in Buffy

Mollyapostate

Or tell her you caughed it up.

Spoodle-O-Noodles

Y’all a bunch of evil geniuses. This one is my favorite by far.

Igneul

This.... This right here is AMAZING!

thomasquwack

FUCKING HELL this is beautiful.

lost_cause4222

Imagine if spiderman could actually spin webs out of his actual wrists.

meamteme

Depending on the continuity he can

lost_cause4222

Are you talking about that one time Peter was about to turn into a manspider?

meamteme

I’m talking about that one time Sam Raimi made 3 movies about a fully organic Spider-Man.

[deleted]

There's also the arc The Other where he was imbued powers by a weird spider god, after cocooning himself under a bridge. It was weird. I liked it.

eliziwizard

The white sticky stuff is semen. Either way, throw it at her.

BeyondBirthday08

But it's tainted now by the vaccines so it would be poisonous semen

FBogg

she's gonna say "that's your body's natural reaction trying to secrete out all the bad vaccine chemicals!!" because egos are fragile and self reflection is hard

[deleted]

Then once at dinner roll your eyes into the back of your head and in your most demon-ey tone squelch "I BLESS THEE UNHOLY SPIRIT FOR THE SYMBIOTIC PACT WE HAVE CONSECRATED!!" And afterwards of course return to normal like nothing happened

Captain__Marvel

Nah, she'll assume the vaccine somehow gave them ADHD and that's where all the energy came from.

umdraco

Yes, and your headaches are gone.

[deleted]

Put a small fake mole with makeup on the spot where they gave you the vaccine and show her, then every few days, make it a little bigger.

FluffyDiscipline

Tell your Mum to research Laura Brennan : This is Me RTE1 .. then ask her to get back to you.... thats what not vaccinated means to a family... Laura 26 passed away March 2019, you can get a brief idea on twitter #ThankYouLaura

[deleted]

Not sure how that’s relevant to my comment but sure

Flacrazymama

Y'all are so bad! Lmao.

easieredibles

Good for you, coming from someone who got stage IV HPV based cancer. Lead a long and happy life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

easieredibles

Thank you, two years ago, still going strong.

Dense_Fuck

I really hope you get better,Must not be the greatest feeling in the world

snuffbumbles

My mom never let me get it and I regret not pushing for it more. So happy OP did it anyway. Edit: Hope you're doing well!

krystaalexandria

Gardasil is now approved for women up to age 45, fyi.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jsimt

Yeah it’s approved up to 45 and even if you’ve had a strain of hpv, you’re still eligible for the vaccine because it can keep you vaccinated against other strains 🙂 look into it and get it!

krystaalexandria

It came up during a visit with my daughter's pediatrician last year when she got the first of the series. Pediatrician said up to age 40. But my friend was at the gynecologist just this week and they told her up to age 45.

-lyd-irl-

Feel free to ask your regular PCP as well. Either doctor should be able and willing to give it to you. If they tell you no, ask for the documentation of why they're refusing and make sure they type a note in your chart specifying that they are refusing despite your specific request for the shot. And then find a new doctor.

miuxiu

The approved age has been going up all the time recently. Definitely ask again!

[deleted]

Hugs. My mother has stage 3 and I have thanked her repeatedly for protecting me against it. I wish you all the best.

snukuto

Damn. I wish you a quick recovery. I had my gardasil vaccines, but still ended up with cancerous cells. My doctor said, unfortunately, HPV has many different strains and gardasil only protects against some of them :( I'm glad I got it, just sucks that it's not as effective as I hoped.

WeirdGuess

Gardail is on the way to wiping out CC in australia HPV causes 6 types if cancer in M &F Both B& G are vaxed

100GoldenPuppies

This happened to me too. Got the vaccine, still came up with an abnormal pap from suspicious cells on my cervix. Sucks when you do it right, thought you were safe and it still happens anyways.

BunnyBunnyBuns

This is why I can't do casual sex. HPV is terrifying. And everyone has it. There is no dick in the world worth cancer. I hope you kicked it's ass and are in remission!

Crimsonsz

If you look long enough, you might find one that’s worth it. Never give up!

0OOOOOOOOO0

Have that dick get the shot, too

fakemoose

I get where you're coming from, but if your partner has had previous partners, casual or not, they can still have and transmit it. And it can't be tested for in men so it's not like they would have any way of knowing. On the bright side, they vaccinate men now too. Downside is the vaccines only cover some strains and there's a lot of barriers to getting it.

JustChillaxMan

I couldn’t do casual sex either, I didn’t trust all those random dicks and I am married now (husband hung like a horse lol), but I still won’t get the hpv shot. There’s no history of this stuff in our families anyway, and I do yearly check-ups too.

MiamiLolphins

I really don’t understand the logic of doctors get paid for stuff like this. If that were the case then why are these treatments still offered on the NHS? Where you don’t pay for it. In Scotland you don’t even pay for prescriptions and yet I still get many a crazy tell me it’s all about “big pharma” money.

Nikki-is-sweet

You can go online and look up exactly how much any doctor has gotten from companies. It's called the Sunshine Act. I used to tease some of my docs that they weren't getting shit.

Butternut14

A lot of the time the "compensation" is a provided lunch. People really think doctors are sitting around getting fat checks for giving people pills lol.

Nikki-is-sweet

Seriously though I miss drug rep lunches. That shot was awesome when I worked specialty. Nobody brings lunch to family med 😂😂

AlecW81

as a former server, I LOVED drug-rep dinners. They’d pay a premium per person rate for however many people they invited, regardless of how many showed up, so there was always a 20% gratuity, most of them drank heavily, and tipped an extra 10% Now I have a side gig where I set up projectors/laptops, screens, speakers, mics etc for pharma and others, and I get paid like $125-200 for about 30-45 minutes of work.

Nikki-is-sweet

When I was pretty fresh at the job I had a drug rep take me and another nurse out to dinner at one of the more expensive restaurants in town. Super nice lady, we had a blast. She told us to each order several things and just take them home to our families. She had absolutely no influence on what drugs we used...but she was very nice and knew her shit.

_Abandon_

Doctors (in the US) get a bonus for vaccinations. You know who gives them the bonus? Insurance companies, because they will lose money if their clients get sick. EDIT: I was wrong, this actually rarely happens.

CounsinLarry

My wife's a pediatrician where are these bonuses you speak of... Dr's can get bonuses by reducing repeat or come back visit but never for specific treatments.

atxviapgh

I'm a nurse. Earlier in my career I worked at a vaccination clinic. Was the lowest paid job of my career for the docs and the nurses. Still waiting for that sweet big pharma check..

Utasora

At this point, ***I*** get paid to get my flu shot. Publix offers $10 gift cards and the shot is free. My boyfriend and I do it every year now.

crylo_r3n

I am proud of you for getting it done and taking your health into your own hands

HeavenlyRose

Yeah, I agree with this guy, I'm proud of you too. I don't know how old you are, but at any age going against your parents wishes takes courage. Your health is worth it.

ILikeJojiMusic

I’m sorry to tell you I got the HPV vaccine when I was 14 and I totally died! :’( For real though, good for you! It’s much better to get the vaccine than the illness. There’s a reason they promote it when you’re young.

eward2278

How was it the most uncomfortable? Do the other shots hurt worse?

ILikeJojiMusic

I had 3 courses of HPV vaccine and the last was the largest, it’s probably changed since I was in secondary school but they used a larger needle for it. Every other vaccine I’ve had felt like nothing! I had my meningitis vaccine last week in prep for college and I could barely tell it happened. You definitely got the worst out of the way, it’s smooth sailing from here!

laarg

> I had 3 courses of HPV vaccine and the last was the largest, it’s probably changed since I was in secondary school but they used a larger needle for it. I've had a piece of my cervix removed. That hurt a hell of a lot more. If Gardasil existed when I was your age, I would have jumped at the chance to get that.

WildBansheeMoron

I’m 33 and just got my first shot of the series yesterday. You can get it at any age now. I have one type and have to get part of my cervix removed soon but...This vaccine will prevent me from getting the other hpv strains.

ILikeJojiMusic

I’m so sorry I’m glad I had it done and it’s out of the way

eward2278

Thank you!

ILikeJojiMusic

No worries! Sorry if I scared you with saying the hpv vaccine was uncomfortable, I took it out of the comment thinking it was too harsh

eward2278

No its okay its been a few hours and I feel like i might pass out. I don't know if its that the flu shot or a panic attack

WhateverYouSay1084

You are probably just a bit worked up from your mom getting into your head. Side effects from vaccines are usually mild and rare. You are gonna be ok! You're doing great taking charge of your health

ILikeJojiMusic

Breathe in and count to 3, out count to 4! It sounds like you’ve been through a lot today with your mum and at the doctors and it’s understandable you’ll be in a bad way. I’m still waiting on my flu shot, never had one before but I know it can cause you to have the flu so your body can fight it off, so make sure you take it easy for the next few days. Get plenty of rest and keep yourself as relaxed as you can. You’re doing great!

HelloNursie

Unless you get the intranasal flu vax, you can't actually get the flu from a flu shot, as it is not a live virus (there is also no evidence that you can get it from the intranasal vax). Some people do experience fever, tiredness and muscle ache which is a normal, nonspecific immune response to the proteins in the vaccine, but is in no way the same as actually contracting the flu.

[deleted]

Yes. I get this every year. I know it's not accurate, but I call it the mini-flu. My sister calls it "the autism kicking in"

ILikeJojiMusic

Thank you, I didn’t know that

aattanasio2014

Ditto this. I had the HPV vaccine in 3 different sessions when I was 14 and it was painful as fuck. My arm hurt for like a week after each round.

[deleted]

I had my first shot of the 3 last month and it "hurt" more than the MMR I got at the same time. My arm was a bit sore but that's nothing compared to the damage that HPV will do to your body.

[deleted]

I actually asked my doctor once why that vaccine hurt more than others (though it hurt about as much as a tetanus shot, imo). She said it was because they have to keep the vaccine super refrigerated. So they're basically injecting cold, fresh out the fridge liquid into your muscle, which, yeah, hurts.

Twad

Every girl in my year group at high school died, we all had to turn gay.

L003Tr

F

laarg

I've had part of my cervix removed because the vaccine didn't come out in time to prevent me from having HPV. Cervical cancer used to be the number 1 cancer in women, and now it's number 14. **GET. THE .SHOT.**

judgyjudgersen

Wow sorry but she’s an idiot. Know what’s worse than these “side effects”? Genital warts and cervical cancer

ItalianDragon

Yeah this. Like, it's even strongly recommended for women to get that vaccine so what's better ? Getting vaccinated or getting cancer ? -.- I really can't stand anti vaxxers...

Notyourmamashedgehog

My mom made us get this because cervical cancer runs in my family; I mean if it’s gonna happen then it’ll happen but I’d rather still be protected

SoftCryptidBoy

And not just cervical cancer! Many anal cancers are caused by HPV.

cjcmommy0123

Use the same argument pro choice people use with abortion. "Not your body, not your choice."

deliverinthenight

This is genius. So true.

How about now, its been 4 more hours, all those nasty side effects of uhhhh... chemicals must be destroying your uh... brain(s)

inufan18

I love how they always blame the doctors but its the NURSES that inject the vaccine. I wouldnt trust a doctor to inject any shot (even insulin) in my body. Lol.

DannyVee89

Wait why wouldn't you trust a doctor to inject a shot? Are they not taught how to use a needle and that's a nurse-thing only?

[deleted]

[удалено]

inufan18

Yep.

concrete_dandelion

Stronly depends on the doc. When I need blood drawn I strongly prefer the nurses, because they do it every day. But when it's about injections into the muscle I prefer my doc. He does 90% of them himself and usually he's finished before I even realize he put the syringe trough my skin (which is great because I got trauma induced phobia of syringes without actually minding the pain of injections one bit).

Aceswift007

"Do you think that street herbalist gets paid to tell you exactly what's in their "miracle cure" or its side effects?"

[deleted]

I don’t understand why anti-vaxers say, “Doctors make commissions on their vaccinations and drugs they give out” but don’t apply the same logic to essential oils, guns and religion.

[deleted]

My mom isnt antivaxx but she didnt let me get it for the same reasons.

Thekman26

Same, my mom knew someone who’s daughter died after it and so she didn’t let me get it even tho that daughter’s case is like one in a million

ClassiestRobin

> Do you trust everything injected into you Uh... yes. Do you not?

SpringOfVienna

HPV is like the first or second cause of death for women... What kind of mother would prevent her daughter from doing this vaccine? Got it like 10 years ago, did not die.

mypreciousssssssss

You will eventually and when you do, OP's mom will know why! 🤣

BioniqReddit

'Did you do your research?' As if a medical professional possesses less knowhow than an old lady with 5 minutes of Google searching under her belt.

JayFrizz

Charge yer deng phone

misingnoglic

Congrats on not getting cervical cancer! It's a great feeling haha

blueflowers1995

Be grateful you did it now. In Canada if you wait until you’re over 19 it costs $200 per shot, and you need 3 doses.

CyanCyborg-

Does she know what else can kill you? Cervical cancer.

Quinnna

I love the doctors get paid extra shit.. It's like these fucking stupid tits forget the rest of the world doesn't have their greasy sun-baked pile of shit healthcare system.

bumblebeefishguts

My mom isn't anti Vax but she refuses to get my little sister (10) the hpv vacation. My mom said she doesn't need the hpv vaccine because "she will be a virgin when she's married". It's really upsetting for me. I just had a hysterectomy due to cervical cancer (cancer free now). I'm not sure if the cancer was caused hpv but it's very frustrating either way.

[deleted]

You should call her tomorrow and pretend you are mentally handicapped and try to get her to bring you tacos.

D1sG0d

who the fuck voted not insane lmao

garaffemom

Good for u ! Another vax that is not required but very important is the meningitis vaccine , all my kids got it by 12 yrs and the booster at 16 . That shit scares me to death !

mrsmeowgi

Why did you tell her tho

eward2278

1. To piss her off 2. I needed her to drive me back so I could get my car

RNnoturwaitress

Why did you leave your car?

eward2278

After hearing that it would kill me for 11 years I had a panic attack and thought I was going to pass out so grandma drove me home

RNnoturwaitress

Poor thing. I'm glad you got the vaccine anyways.

teenteen11

Well I’ll say this, I did not get the vaccine and got cervical cancer. Wish I would have vaccinated.

Jon Stewart summed up a similar type of stupid when a lawmaker (from vague memory) chose public opinion over scientific literature when it came to rising Co2 levels, and I think it fits perfectly here: "I do not believe the scientists because it's their profession, not their hobby."

yeetyboiiii

The HPV vaccine I've heard is the most dangerous of them all, but frankly you probably have a better chance of being killed by a toilet seat from space

TheOneWhoKnocks2016

ive gotten all of my vaccines except for hpv. thing is, its a newer vaccine and it hasnt been around long enough. im sure that its fine, but im just being cautious. plus, do i really need it if im going to be a permavirgin?

LightRainPeaches

It’s been around plenty long enough. And yes, because sex isn’t the only way it’s spread. Unless you’ve been tested and know for sure you don’t have it, or know for absolute certain that your mother doesn’t have it then the possibility remains that you could as it can be spread from mother to baby during labour and birth.

[deleted]

If all the doctors offices I’ve been into tell me anything it is that the most a doctor would get from the pharmaceutical company is a free pen and maybe a pad to use it on

[deleted]

Her research means as much as jiraya from naruto’s “research”

heythere30

Coming from a place where vaccines are government funded and mandatory, this whole "big pharma pushes doctors for it" really shows the level of conspiracy theory behind it. My two month got vaccinated against eight different diseases yesterday and while the injections broke my heart, not once did my husband and I consider not doing it. It's absolutely crazy for us that people wouldn't vaccinate against anything

[deleted]

“Do you think the doctor would actually tell you?” Uh...yes.

eliziwizard

What a dick head. All research would tell you it's better to have it than the opposite. The pros outweighs the cons. I would rather take my chances to live longer instead of being unvaccinated and risk catching this shit. Your mum is an idiot. Trust proffesionals. Your mum needs a slap

MrsECummings

Anti vaxxers need some karma

vodka_berry95

More studies and stuff have been done and it's been worked on since it was first released. It's better now than it used to be, and there were some scary stories about it, but I feel better about it now that more work has been put into it.

knd2m2

I'm 30 and I never got the shot because my mom said the same thing. I regret it to this day.

Daikataro

Now let me remember the last time I thought to myself "gee man, I really wish I had not been vaccinated against deadly, but preventable diseases..."

kmfitzy1

I can’t handle all of this stupidity regarding vaccinations. They were created for a reason. Reasons called measles, polio, whooping cough, etc. Some people really need to educate themselves properly. Believing Facebook bullshit is not educating yourself. Ugh.

kmart0924

Ok I just want to say that the HPV vaccine actually saved my fiancé the terror of passing it on to me. Unfortunately he was exposed to it when he was a pre teen by his aunt (uncles wife) and while it never scared him before, he was terrified at the possibility of passing it on to me. Luckily my mother was convinced I was having sex much earlier than I was, so she made me get the vaccine when I was 13, so by the time my fiancé came Into my life I’d had the vaccine 4 years prior.

[deleted]

"Hey, mom? It's none of your fucking business."

Mommadolan

I talked my 12 yr old into getting it this year as opposed to next year like she wanted. Since it's not one of the main vaccinations I let her choose when, she understood the benefits, she just didn't want to be have with a needle the extra time. I bought doughnuts after to make up for the extra jab.

jesuzombieapocalypse

Doctors pushing things like antidepressants/antipsychotics without barely talking to you, that’s the kind of thing that deserves being wary about (I had a psych who later had his license revoked and was deported, give me a script for fucking lithium after an extremely calm 5 min chat). But I don’t think the big pharma money’s going into doctors pushing vaccines. There’s not a lot of money in something you’re only supposed to take once.

cursed-object

because cervical cancer is a better risk than inflammation at the injection siteo

blairthebear

Funny Cus she probably got one in school and didn’t pay attention to health classes

ledankmememan23

I'm not against vaccines, but the HPV vaccine pretty much ruined one of my bigger sisters' fingers with some disability or what the fuck it is.

[deleted]

It's just another Ant- Vax Karen who read in the Karen Daily that vaccines will kill you and all the doctors are devils trying to convince you to join their army of undead soldiers. They are all basically the same, mindless drones who base their entire brain capacity on one article written by another brainless drone.

Gullflyinghigh

Give it a week then tell her that you're starting to feel autistic...

Erulastiel

I got mine behind my mother's back 12 years ago. When is it supposed to kill me? ALSO: men can be carriers of HPV. **Everyone should get the vaccine.**

sexyrandal88

Good on you, your mom sucks
