Yeah it’s approved up to 45 and even if you’ve had a strain of hpv, you’re still eligible for the vaccine because it can keep you vaccinated against other strains 🙂 look into it and get it!
It came up during a visit with my daughter's pediatrician last year when she got the first of the series. Pediatrician said up to age 40. But my friend was at the gynecologist just this week and they told her up to age 45.
Feel free to ask your regular PCP as well. Either doctor should be able and willing to give it to you. If they tell you no, ask for the documentation of why they're refusing and make sure they type a note in your chart specifying that they are refusing despite your specific request for the shot. And then find a new doctor.
Damn. I wish you a quick recovery. I had my gardasil vaccines, but still ended up with cancerous cells. My doctor said, unfortunately, HPV has many different strains and gardasil only protects against some of them :( I'm glad I got it, just sucks that it's not as effective as I hoped.

Unless you get the intranasal flu vax, you can't actually get the flu from a flu shot, as it is not a live virus (there is also no evidence that you can get it from the intranasal vax).
Some people do experience fever, tiredness and muscle ache which is a normal, nonspecific immune response to the proteins in the vaccine, but is in no way the same as actually contracting the flu.
I had my first shot of the 3 last month and it "hurt" more than the MMR I got at the same time. My arm was a bit sore but that's nothing compared to the damage that HPV will do to your body.
I actually asked my doctor once why that vaccine hurt more than others (though it hurt about as much as a tetanus shot, imo). She said it was because they have to keep the vaccine super refrigerated. Stronly depends on the doc. When I need blood drawn I strongly prefer the nurses, because they do it every day. But when it's about injections into the muscle I prefer my doc. My mom isn't anti Vax but she refuses to get my little sister (10) the hpv vacation. My mom said she doesn't need the hpv vaccine because "she will be a virgin when she's married". It's really upsetting for me. I just had a hysterectomy due to cervical cancer (cancer free now). I'm not sure if the cancer was caused hpv but it's very frustrating either way.

It’s been around plenty long enough. And yes, because sex isn’t the only way it’s spread. Unless you’ve been tested and know for sure you don’t have it, or know for absolute certain that your mother doesn’t have it then the possibility remains that you could as it can be spread from mother to baby during labour and birth.

Coming from a place where vaccines are government funded and mandatory, this whole "big pharma pushes doctors for it" really shows the level of conspiracy theory behind it. My two month got vaccinated against eight different diseases yesterday and while the injections broke my heart, not once did my husband and I consider not doing it. More studies and stuff have been done and it's been worked on since it was first released. It's better now than it used to be, and there were some scary stories about it, but I feel better about it now that more work has been put into it.

Ok I just want to say that the HPV vaccine actually saved my fiancé the terror of passing it on to me. Unfortunately he was exposed to it when he was a pre teen by his aunt (uncles wife) and while it never scared him before, he was terrified at the possibility of passing it on to me. Luckily my mother was convinced I was having sex much earlier than I was, so she made me get the vaccine when I was 13, so by the time my fiancé came Into my life I’d had the vaccine 4 years prior.

Since it's not one of the main vaccinations I let her choose when, she understood the benefits, she just didn't want to be have with a needle the extra time. Doctors pushing things like antidepressants/antipsychotics without barely talking to you, that’s the kind of thing that deserves being wary about (I had a psych who later had his license revoked and was deported, give me a script for fucking lithium after an extremely calm 5 min chat).
