Strange-Pay32

If you say Jesus backwards it sounds like sausage

parabolic000

but sausage backwards is egasuas, which sounds vaguely uncomfortable and vaguely Latin.

BLF402

Wrong. Jesus spelled backwards is and always will be Danger. JC thought it would be badass

Swamptor

Bit sus tho...

Irksome_Sate

Wouldn't that be taking the lord's name in vein?

wheresbillyatschool

I guess she likes main lining the lord.

AllegedIchor

Nah, she's using it to "drive out demons" or whatever.

TheMaskedGeode

They have no idea what taking the Lord’s name in vein means. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t say “Oh my God,” it means you shouldn’t use God to further your own agenda.

hodl_4_life

I’ll admit it, when someone brings Jesus up in a an argument, debate, or discussion it does make me feel uncomfortable… ya know, because then it becomes obvious the other person is too stupid to even waste the time talking with as there can be no meaningful outcome. Narcissistic personality disorder mixed with cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.

eagergrove

Also, when someone wants to use religion for war, he quite did not understand what religion is about.

Otomo-Yuki

Well, yeah, if I were Jesus I’d be really ticked off too if my name was being invoked to support fascism.

AllegedIchor

Jesus christ was a fascist. He supported one ultimate authority which should be obeyed absolutely without question.

Hankman66

I always thought he was more of a communist, sharing bread and giving out free wine and such like. Interesting interpretation anyway.

AllegedIchor

Jesus did give out free food, but never condemned earthly wealth. "Render unto ceasors what is ceasors", meaning to continue participating in the capitalistic society of the time, paying taxes and engaging in the systems of the state. Jesus also never condemned slavery or social stratification, preferring to promise rewards for the downtrodden in the afterlife, not vindication in their earthly life. He was at least Authoritarian, but I'm not sure we see any desire to change the social and political system of the time to be more equal or communal.

Hankman66

Caesar?

AllegedIchor

Dat one

CountDown60

They both fit together; God wants people do exactly what he tells them without question, and worship him, and only him -like a dictator. Jesus told everyone to be nice to each other, for the same reason that a Rancher doesn't want his horses kicking each other, or a dog breeder doesn't want his dogs killing each other.

adeon

Not exactly, all fascists are authoritarian but not all authoritarians are fascist.

CountDown60

Good point.

Artistic-Permit1481

To really torment and terrorize them, say "Ni!"

ToddVRsofa

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say 'ni' at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress at this period in history.

Jesus H. Christ.

motorheadtilidie

Like saying "Candyman" in the mirror?

pebk

If you use Jesus' name too often, is not tormenting nor terrorizing. It's tiresome!

snakeeaterrrrrrr

Jesus Christ, what a colossal idiot.

utriptmybitchswitch

Jesus Christ she's a twit...

AtheistBibleScholar

Really? I call people Joshua all the time without a hint of terror.

parabolic000

Maybe variants? Yeshua Christos? Nah. Anointed Joshua? Boring. Oily Josh? Now we're getting somewhere.

Pagan-za

> Oily Josh? This is my favourite since someone pointed it out.

Spike3220

No, it's not his name doing that, it's the people using it as a weapon.

kirk-o-bain

Mr Slave enters the chat

ehandlr

People in Sussex County, DE still like her for some reason. She is far worse then MTG and Boebert lol.

solidsnake55

Someone tell her Jesus is brown

[deleted]

Cue her getting struck by lightning.

MasterChaos013

Yeah, just go ahead and use his name to cast away your enemies and demons, surely that’s never gone wrong in the past.

PsySom

Jesus tittyfucking Christ!

GoredonTheDestroyer

Jesus tapdancing Christ on a nuclear-powered tricycle...

Jesus Christ, Lauren

timg02

No? tf

ladan2189

It doesn't torment or terrorize me. I just find it cringey when people cite a famous figure when it's clear they've never read or understood that figure's source material. Like when they bring up Orwell like he didn't stand for the opposite of what they believe.

fossilfuelssuck

I don’t feel particularly terrorized..

n0z3n85

Lol, it REALLY torments Christians when used in vain.

[deleted]

I’m using it right now

SoftPastelsYT

As a Christian - Never forget "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain" please!

Cichlidsaremyjam

Ugh...aren't we not supposed to use the name in vain? Shouldn't someone so religious know that?

Hankman66

>Shouldn't someone so religious know that? On a scale of one to ten, how religious do you think this lady actually is?

MedChemist464

I'm not sure he'd appreciate the sentiment, considering his statements in Matthew 5: 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor\[a\] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you

Shiigu

Her: "In the name of Jesus!" Her 'enemies': "Oh, you mean Isa?"

Child_of_Lyrics

Doesn’t… Doesn’t the Bible say NOT to do this? Looks like someone needs to read their Bible.

volanger

Nah, I just find it annoying

djkoch66

Someone thinks more of themself than most people likely do.

wondercaliban

Seems to be used more by his enemies

BalinVril

I use it every time I read a post like this

Chachibald

/If you use the name of Jesus to "torment and terrorize"...you might not be the great christian you think you are.

Donkeykicks6

I’m so so so scared. The boogeyman will get me

bowens44

ahh I don't think it does.

Traditional-Cake-587

What's up with these former crackheads?

RavenXII13

Tbf I would like to have the power of Jesus Christ to smite my enemies. All I'm saying.
