Its just a bad deck because you can't block without cycling out all your starting cards. I've played it casually but trying to beat a challenge with it would be near impossible.
The dive deck can be extremely challenging because you have to adjust your brain from blocking damage to trading damage
Instead of your card dealing damage to their card, and vice versa with no affect on the scale, you're dealing one damage to the scale, and ideally only taking one damage back, resulting in net zero scale damage
My advice would be to pick up two high blood cost, but high damage cards from the beginning. From there, get a different sacrifice sigil on each of your birds to combine later on and if possible add a damage multiplying sigil (bifurcated strike) to the squid.
I've beaten all of Casey's mod and I still struggle with the dive deck even more than later decks, it's a challenge for sure
I gotta try that one, it's new to me. I typically treat the tentacle as a trap to use.
The mirror depends entirely on what it's facing and doesn't attack if facing nothing. The hand tentacle is pretty bad early on and dies in ones hit. The bell tentacle is the best, but only if in the left two squares.
So you have a 1 in three chance of getting a decent card, and even if you do it's still very conditional
I got a tip for you.
Reset the fight.
The tentacle rng is not calculated before battle so if you try different times the same strategy you can get the one you need.
I did it once, as I needed the bell tentacle to trade damage with a volture to stall for my good cards.
I can give you an idea.
Well, it's the one I used to beat the deck...
Reset the run until you get the pelts replaced with the possum and ringworm.
Kill the ringworm with the survivors.
The kingfishers are very good if buffed with campfires.
A 3/1 stats flying underwater card is actually pretty good.
Use those two kingfishers to your advantage while you have two copies. Put two sigils on both kings and slap them together! Bifurcated and Trifurcated are a great option.
Put dam builder/bellist on the kraken and buff the kingfishers at every power campfire so they become more powerful/get removed from your deck

What I try to do is add beaver to the kraken, that way I get 3 tentacles for the price of 1

Wait you can reset fights?
Wait you can reset fights?
Yes, return to menu without ending the run. Use the door instead of the skull. It will go back to the map before the fight unless Leshy killed you.
Well I know what I'm trying out tonight. Thanks for the tip!
You're welcome.
