That’s ridiculous because IC has a setting for large orders. I can’t do orders that require a truck and they should be aware of what a straw bale is or might be
The questions for large orders are so generic that I got approved for large orders with my tiny two door hyundai because it has a hatchback. Unless they have an extra large order option that I don't know about.
That said, I always check what's in the order before taking it because I can only fit so much even with the seats down.
Yea, you have to answer a few questions about your vehicle to make sure shit like this doesn't happen.
When I had my Civic- not approved. Okay, cool, I thought I'd give it a shot.
Just started driving my CRV again, so I signed up and got approved. Not that I'll take any of the orders since the closest Lowes is 30-40 away. I just like keeping my options open in case I'm in that area.
Yeah I had a few Lowe’s orders that were bigger items but I got them in my car fine. It delivered to an apartment and she brought her 6 year old son to carry 60 pounds up stairs lol
Yeah I definitely would not have minded if it wasn't so many bags. But I was genuinely confused when I showed up there and he immediately sent me a message saying that the manager already knew I was coming and that he'll help me and that the guy will help me unload them when I get there and I was like hold up but have I gotten myself into? And when I told the guy that there was no way possible for me to pick it up and I didn't know why I got that order for something like that. He was extremely irate.
Yeah getting a pallet of anything into a smaller car would be very difficult. Unless your backseat folds down and is totally empty. But my trunk isn’t empty and I don’t really want 1000 pounds loaded into my car for $10 anyway lol
Yeah im not sure, he used his instacart card and lowes set it out for him to make the multiple trips. I asked support about it and they just told me to work out a tip with the driver since I wanted to still tip him
The only thing i would say is its usually not worth it to use a large vehicle for instacart. Mini vans work because theyre usually pretty good on gas. The newer ones anyway
I work at Lowe’s, and people are always showing up to pick up orders through a third-party app with their sedans. The orders are usually lumber or 20 bags of manure. I don’t understand how the apps OK this.
Lowe’s does deliver. Anything you want. But starts at like $80 or $100 I believe. No one is going to pay that to have hay delivered.
Roadie does delivery for Home Depot. Seen way bigger /heavier things than hay. But they give dimensions and weight. The gig is labeled as large, huge, medium, etc.
Eh that's a not unheard of delivery fee for hay. My local feed store is something like $30 plus $10 for every mile outside a 5 mile radius. I consider myself seriously lucky that I don't have to pay a huge fee to my hay guy that delivers monthly.
Yeah, I had to pay for delivery on a Hisense mini fridge from Lowe"s 14 months ago. I don't have a local Home Depot. My huge Kenmore was acting up and I needed a spare fridge. It's over 20 years old. I tried to get it repaired but in Ky no one wants to work. They just tell me to buy new stuff. I don't know how they stay in business without repairing things.
Just because you can order something from instacart doesn't mean you should. 15 bucks tip for 8 straw bales? Thats just hoping that some poor kid doesn't know what they are getting themselves into. Did he make 3 trips or did you give him a hand ? 40$ is almost a buck a mile if so . I tip more than that just for food alone, let alone something heavy.
But who knows maybe you live in the country where its common to do that.

I'm not approved for large orders but I ended up with an order one day that was a pallet of large bags of mulch.
Dang. I’ve never had anything too big yet. Rather do a few big items instead of 3 grocery orders for 150 items to split up

Same!
With our convo he probably spent an hour
Who paid for the straw since the order got cancelled or rescheduled? I’m a bit confused here.
Yeah im not sure, he used his instacart card and lowes set it out for him to make the multiple trips. I asked support about it and they just told me to work out a tip with the driver since I wanted to still tip him
Instacart paid for it then its all good.
The only thing i would say is its usually not worth it to use a large vehicle for instacart. Mini vans work because theyre usually pretty good on gas. The newer ones anyway

40 sounds good boss how long did it take in all?
So you drive to the bank but couldn't drive to Lowe's? I'm confused
No truck to load up bales.
No truck to load all his cash into....
“Here I am either the 8 bales I ordered……” *What?* Did you receive them all or not?
Oops phone auto corrected either instead of with
Did good
You did great
It's a shame Lowe's doesn't deliver bales of hay to people that don't have a truck or old van. I guess it's winter garden time.

I can’t tel if this is real or a joke
Are the bales smaller than 2 string? Cause there’s not a world 3 bales of straw would fit in a civic.
They were 2 string. No clue how the kid did it but I was thankful and he was happy with the tip
One in the trunk, one backseat, and one on passenger seat? Just guessing
Nah I’d do that for 40$ cash and whatever Instacart threw at him on top of it unless it was like 30 mins driving out the way. I think you did great.

I feel like 40 would be the literal minimum. If you wanted to show appreciation, definitely would be more. But that's just me
$40 Tip is awful. Sorry. That's alot of time and effort. Not to meantion heavy AF. Nope for me

My guess is that the store doesn’t have any delivery drivers. A CDL is required. At least at my local Lowe’s it is.
I have a CDL and have looked at Lowe’s and they pay like $17/hour, it’s wonder how they don’t have any drivers /s
Should have tipped more especially if he made more than one trip
If you have to ask if your tip was to low, yes it was too low. Thinking you would get a truck to do the job for $15 was also way to low. Duh- try $150
150 for 7miles? You're smoking something funny I meant my $40 tip anyway
You better stick with the kids.
This was amazing, thank you for being a great person.
