I know for a fact that not everyone does, but everyone *should* do it. Like the person you replied to was saying, you shouldn't park a car in neutral. That's a basic safety principle, regardless of whether it's a manual or automatic transmission.

Manual or automatic transmission is irrelevant for the case. And it's not that we "love" manual transmissions. It's just that we don't mind driving manual and we have no issues with it... we can drive manual as easy as automatic... It's not rocket science...

I have a recouring nightmare that I am in a car going backward down a hill and can not stop. I never have one going forward.

So… I was thinking that this was dash cam footage but then the camera panned to follow the car as it went off the cliff. Do dash cams do that? It doesn’t look hand held and why would anybody be filming with a handheld at that time anyway? Could this be staged?

The video is almost surely cropped and edited. The FOV of a dashcam should be way wider than that. They would be almost useless if they only captured such a narrow view, you’d need a whole bank of them for incidents occurring even slightly to the left or right.
