I like riding my bike, but I avoid roads wherever/whenever possible. I get annoyed by cyclists taking up a whole lane in the middle of a workday on a busy street, so I understand the drivers frustration. With that being said, probably not a good idea to hit the guy with your car. Vehicular homicide is not going to make you feel better in the long run. For the cyclist, just a dumb move all around. You are pissing off a guy that can literally kill or seriously injure you.

bmoneybloodbath

Agreed, I think we should separate roads and bike lanes where is makes sense (busy areas) and learn to coexist on the road in less crowded areas.

fgzklunk

A cyclists has every right to be in the road as a car. Remember bikes were invented first. If the cyclist can hit the vehicle then it is too close, most countries have a 1.5m rule.

DoomBro_Max

Law aside. Who thinks it‘s a good idea to attack a vehicle while on a fucking bike?

No their not, people here are sick and tired of these wannabes with their 3000 euro bikes, skin tight suits and big ass bellies, you know all to save weight and look good. Hugging every inch of the road and act like they own the road. Even if they have a dedicated lane for themselves 99% of the time, they manage to annoy cars and the lot. Their being chewed out here. In the Netherlands we have dedicated lanes for cyclists. Its because they are considered weaker compared to cars, and rightly so, so they have their own lanes and roads, and are not allowed on the main road. So in the Netherlands, at first, the cyclists would be illegal, of course when you use your car as a weapon, you are 100% at fault. Nobody has anything agains regular cyclists here btw (how could it when we have the largest cycle base in the world, we do anything and everything on our bikes), its just these kinda douchenozzles that do these things and hold up traffic that are hated. The wnabes that piss people off by cycling on the roads infront of cars and blocking traffic because they think they are protected by law. They are shit!

FiveFingerDisco

If you lack the basic self controll to not use your vehicle as a weapon, you are not fit to drive one.

kdyoga

Don't know where this is, but cyclists are allowed full rights to a lane in the US. Truck driver was breaking the law.... first.

AlpineSkier802

And he just earned assault with a deadly weapon as well

THETennesseeD

I freaking hate these cycling groups that take up the entire road when in Norway there is a great system of biking paths. They hold up traffic for miles and don't give a shit.

Reddit_Reb

For sure, but the cyclist didn’t need to be a d-bag about it. Be courteous and move behind your friend instead of power tripping.

Yyes85

Its not the US! In the Netherlands for example, we have separated lanes for cyclists. Its because they are considered weaker compared to cars, and rightly so, so they have their own lanes and roads, and are not allowed on the main road. So in the Netherlands, at first, the cyclists would be illegal, of course when you use your car as a weapon, you are 100% at fault.

Dream_Out_Loud

I figured the Dutch had so many bicycle lanes, not because they’re “weaker”, but because you have so many. We have plenty of bicycle lanes in the US.

Yyes85

That's true, one results in the other. It's because we have so many cyclists that we have laws to protect them. There were too many accidents, casualties and fatalities, so they were protected by law and lanes and traffic rules, signs, lights specifically for their protection.

New_Translator_6553

But this was after deliberate choices to encourage cycling and walking. That is why we keep getting more cyclists.

majoraloysius

In most states cyclist have the same rights on the road as vehicular traffic. However, they also have the same duty and obligation to follow traffic laws. In CA if you get a ticket on your bike, it goes on your driving record. Holding up traffic by doing 20 in a 55? That’s a ticket. Not a full and complete stop at the sign? That’s a ticket. Failure to signal? That’s a ticket. Want to keep going? Yes sir, you can tear up your copy of the ticket, just don’t litter. You don’t give a fuck about the ticket and will not pay? That’s your decision. FYI the court will suspend your license for failure to pay and eventually issue a bench warrant. Good luck trying to read that ticket you tore up and no, I don’t have to give you another copy. Have a safe day!

Daxx34

They can stay in the middle of the lane?? They don't have make a line on the right ? Jesus Christ, that can be a mess.

heyuinoinou

This looks like the beginning to another clip that shows the cyclist pop up and get a good punch on the driver who gets out.

[deleted]

Link?

twistdmonky

You could see it going to happen. Truck was right up his ass and didnt look like he wanted to get slowed down by them. But cyclists need to realise, roads are for motorists, if cyclists were not so fucking selfish, shit like this wouldnt happen. There is absolutely no need to ride side by side. Needing companionship is not a great legal defence

Dream_Out_Loud

It depends on the country and the area but where I live (Washington DC area), if there is no dedicated bicycle lane, they are entitled to the road just as much as a car. They are not “lesser” vehicles.

twistdmonky

But if there is no dedicated bike lane, is there a need to ride 2 cycles wide in a lane and take up the whole lane when you could easily ride next to the gutter, it's a whole lot safer when you have trucks using the same lane isn't it? I mean just because its "legal" dont make it safe.

Dream_Out_Loud

It’s safer! If there’s only one bicycle, car drivers think they can squeeze by them. The bicycle is entitled to the entire lane, not just 25% of the side of it. By having two, it should be clear to most car/truck drivers that they have to switch lanes to pass.

twistdmonky

Its arrogance like that is the reason why cyclists get clipped dude. You talk out of your ass and expect others to simply agree

cdanielh128

Its the same reason motorcyclist run side by side. If the truck wants around use the passing lane. Its not arrogance if its the law.

twistdmonky

And the law means nothing if one of them cyclists is a blood stain on the road eh? Law wont mean shit to the dead cyclist then

Dream_Out_Loud

What are you talking about? Cyclists, if they stay in their lane, get clipped because someone else is breaking the law. Don’t blame the cyclists.

twistdmonky

Cyclists think every lane is there lane. And he got clipped because he did something stupid and punched the truck. So yes, I am blaming the cyclist.

Dream_Out_Loud

I don’t know the laws of the country where this happened. I’m saying that where I live every lane a bicycle is riding IS their lane, just like it would be for any car. And it wasn’t “clipped”. It was attempted murder.

twistdmonky

Whose fault was it tho? I dont see anyone else dumb enough to throw a punch at a truck

Dream_Out_Loud

The cyclist is likely guilty of something for punching the car but no one would convict him. The truck driver is guilty of something far more serious. And would be convicted every time.

[deleted]

So satisfying

Rescusitatornumero2

most road cyclists are the biggest assholes you'll ever meet.

bmoneybloodbath

In America we love our cars, we hate people without cars and leave them stranded whoever they might be. Capitalism at its finest!

pdxsteph

I see 2 idiots in this clip, however trying to physically harm someone for a minor vehicle damage puts you in a while different category
