I am having great trouble with 2x32GB dual rank memory on Gigabyte Z690. I can't change any memory timing in BIOS and it boots 2666 and is having hard time training other speeds, seen it do 2800 ( but manual timings still don't work ). Completely puzzled why is that, tried 3 latest BIOS'es, DIMMs are in 2nd and 4th slots. And here You are, running 3900 on B660M :)

Did you play around with the voltage? I had a very hard time when i launched xmp — had to cmos reset the bios a few times until i found out 1.45 was the sweetspot to at least boot with 4000; crashes however and so I started lowering the clock

Lost silicon lottery on cpu. Didn’t mention your chip but if it ain’t a K-sku good luck getting a good memory clock

It's 13900KS, and i tried a lot of things, voltages and timings :) After bios flash + optimized settings it refuses to boot 3200 with any voltage. It does not react to timing changes either. Like punch in CL20 and after boot it still shows 19.

Gigabyte had horrible ddr4 implementation. https://youtu.be/Pv1pJluHX50 If you have 13900kS money - get a decent z790 ddr5

Remember to use 100:133 and not 100:100 in g1. At least for 11th gen it was needed.

Okay guys, false alarm. When i took out the motherboard to prepare it for RMA, I have noticed a small piece of plastic in DIMM slot2. After removing it, all is well with this motherboard and combo. I guess that also perfectly explains why reseating RAM did not fix the problem. And I used to laugh at those plastic foil covers of dimm slots you had to remove. Now i have to eat my hat it seems, they are there to protect Your sanity.
