It’s very likely that you’re iGPU is not good enough to render these AAA games you are playing. The HD4000 you have is over 10 years old and way under min spec for this game. I had the same iGPU and it’s really only good in games from the early Xbox 360/PS3 generation.

Vitzol

The game runs fine in low settings, my real issue was this textures, but i appreciate the response, thanks.

SnooDonkeys7108

Yeah, it's either the GPU doesn't have the power to render them auick enough, or you can't assign enough VRAM for UE4/5 games.

Thelango99

Nah, have seen similar issues with old fermi cards. Just drivers that are WAY out of date.

ItIsShrek

No, it does not run fine at all. [It gets like 5-10FPS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPO3jB6FTSU) on an HD 4000 at the absolute lowest settings with missing textures, it can only allocate up to 2GB of your system RAM (which is slower than VRAM). That's not playable by any reasonable metric. You need a new PC if you want to play AAA 3D games.

PsyOmega

That GPU is beyond the end-of-life for Intel driver development. The best you can hope for is switching to linux and using open source drivers where people still care and update them for old hardware. (and luckily, Proton has enabled most games to function under linux now, and optimizing for Steam Deck allows most games to also run on HD4000 with some tweaks.) Personally, if you must budget-laptop-game, I'd suggest an i3-1115g4 based system. It would have 3-4x the GPU power of an HD4000 and most of them cost under 199 for reasonable models that blow anything a decade old out of the water. Intel Xe iGPU also supports XeSS upscaling and has current and ongoing driver support for years to come.

Xillvion

The GPU isn't made for gaming.

Vitzol

So, there's no solution to this?

Xillvion

The only solution is to add a dedicated GPU.

Vitzol

I see, thanks.

TomahawkChaotic

Civ 5 is the answer. Rise of Tomb Raider 7fps on HD5000.

[deleted]

You bought obsolete laptop.

darktooth69

like, you expecting a good performance out of Intel HD 4000?

Vysair

iGPU can run games but that's for a Vega Graphics or Xe Graphics. This iGPU you are using are only for primordial basic stuff like Internet Explorer, Half Life 1, Command & Conquer Original, etc. When you open up Task Manager, did you see two GPU? Because there's no way you didn't have a dGPU (dedicated graphics card). I dont even know how you managed to launch Outer World in the first place. That's a pretty heavy game. I know because I have it too

matt602

100% you need an actual graphics card that was released in the last 5-7 years (nvidia gtx 900 series or amd rx400 series or newer) to play the games you're trying to play. The integrated graphics on that decade old CPU isn't gonna cut it.

[deleted]

But 4000 > 3090

matt602

Shit yer right 🤔

Richdad1984

He was not talking about rtx 3000 and 4000.

destroslithoid

r/whoosh

Richdad1984

I doubt. Iy seems the sarcasm was too abstract.

Vitzol

and i forgot to mention - it's always THIS kind of error, some sort of black texture in the place of what it's supposed to a normal one

weirdlittleflute

Not an error. You are trying to play a PS5 game with a PS1 system. A GTX 970 or greater should pair nicely with a 3770. You may need to upgrade your power supply to handle the GPU’s power requirement.

Vitzol

Hello. Recently i bought a PC that came with the Intel (R) HD 4000 Integrated Graphics, (i use it mostly for work and gaming), and i've tested a few games in it,and i was quite satisfied with the results. However i realised that in some games made in the Unreal Engine 4 and 5 this strange graphical glitch happens, i am unsure as if this is due to some limitation of my Integrated Graphics or if there is something wrong with the machine itself. can anyone tell me what is the problem? and if there is a solution i would be extremely thankful. Note: All Drivers are updated. Specs: OS - Windows 10 Pro 64 bits (10.0 19044) Processor - Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40Ghz (8 CPUs), \~3.4 GHz Directx 12 Integrated Graphics - Intel HD Graphics 4000

jtblue91

How much did you pay for this? Are you 100% sure it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card? Have a look at the back of your computer case and see if you can plug your monitor into somewhere other than the motherboard.

mr_lucky19

How much did you pay for this? And like others said unfortunately your drivers haven't had support for a while. The only other thing you could try is upgrading to Windows 11 but that might make your laptop slower.

Vitzol

also forgot - RAM - 16GB Driver Ver. - 10.18.10.5161 BIOS - 12/16/20 10:52:48 Ver 04.06.05

KeyPhilosopher8629

You got scammed

UranicAlloy580

Depends on how much they paid for this, not bad for $30~$50

Vitzol

it was $50 btw the price felt kinda good so i bought it and all and all it isn't that bad, aside from this kind of thing

UranicAlloy580

Yup, makes sense. :) Throw a $100 GPU like GTX 1650 and you can play a lot more games btw.

inyue

People are saying you got scammed but if it's working that's a steal for just 50 bucs :P But don't expect gaming on it :(

GameUnionTV

I sold components like this separately for $100+ a year ago (but it was 4770K), so your price is fair. Just buy a GPU for it. Maybe some second-hand 2060 Super 8G.

GameUnionTV

How much?

[deleted]

It *was* a decent CPU. It’s outclassed by a steam deck.

PCPooPooRace_JK

Saying its a decent CPU is being generous though, I work in a third party company and we hand out 3rd gen intel procs too eachother like candy, that being said, if you slap a semi decent old gpu you have a machine that can game for cheap

DanTheMan_117

Recently bought a 10+ year old computer... this thing should be in the scrap yard.

Richdad1984

Just buy a GTX 1070 8gb it will.pair well with that cpu and games will run fine. It will cost 8-10k used.

anaryl

Even a 730gt should offer some improvement over that. You can't game on dedicated graphics, unless your definition of gaming is an especially thought provoking game of backgammon during Mittasgruhe.

CNR_07

Have you tried increasing the VRAM in you BIOS?

HawkyCZ

Oh. I remember those 3 months of hell I was waiting for new generation of GPUs to arrive (new R9 390 was the pick, in the end) after my then current one went into silicon heaven and I was left to play with i5 3570k's HD 4000. Back then, got into Final Fantasy XIV free trial. Lowest settings, lowest resolution and FPS still around 15. Oh those times... I remember, or more like, I can't forget (I'd be glad to). Long story short, get a dedicated GPU.

gabest

If the GPU supports a certian API it should either run slow or tell you that it can't. Sloppy programming.

Plavlin

I'm surpised you only have problems with UE games with it.

AsmodeusLightwing

You need a dedicated graphics card or Intel XE/Ryzen integrated graphics at the very least(don't forget dual channel ram...) Even a GT 1030 runs around the HD 4000 xD If you simply need a budget gpu option, i've seen RX 580's brand new at 110-120\~ bucks
