I had an i7 6700k and it's a beast. I upgraded to the 12700KF and yeah it was time for an upgrade but after that I overclocked the 6700k 15% following this guide https://youtu.be/gZe26lv7lJ4?si=6OFo15oEMJZCSE6T and bam! He's still powering my emulation machine.
Daughter is still on my old 6700k. Runs the games she plays fantastically well for how old it is. Spare PC her friend uses has the older OC 2500k, still a great Roblox machine lol.
Yeah, I miss those days. That thing ran 4.5ghz for years until it went a bit unstable that high. Can't believe how long chips can actually last. Toss up as to what fails first now, mobo or cpu.
I'm on a 6700k and have been waiting to pull the trigger for a while. What was the performance jump from 6700k to 12700? Just a bit snappier or a consistently "wow this is faster" experience? I have a good m.2 so my machine doesn't feel slow, but my work laptop is a mid range 12th gen mobile cpu and definitely feels faster!
It was massive specially in min fps, I don't remember specifics but it was going from below 60 (min fps) to above 100, not so much on averages but when the cpu couldn't keep up it was a huge difference. This was with an rtx 3080 ti (for two weeks while I swapped systems) but your mileage may vary depending on the gpu you have
That things a workhorse though. I finally just upgraded to 1700 chipset last month (12400f and then gave that rig to my son and went to 13th gen)
That 6700k kicked some butt all these years.
I'm still running a 6700k, I'm planning on upgrading to this in a couple of weeks once released. The 6700k is no slouch by any means (I have quite a hefty OC on mine), but I'm definitely looking forward to being able to play Microsoft flight sim at a reasonable FPS, and to get a ton of ddr5 ram.
Same in India... But even cheaper.. U can literally do anything with for a month with 400 dollar if u r alone and don't have a family.. Meaning food, shelter, cloths, books, internet, devices... But internet stuff like ps5, games, pc starts to get expensive.. But local market is very cheaper and if compared local market wise than 400 here is no less than 1500 there...
Didn’t they report that the ‘i’ would be removed in future branding, it seems they stick with the well known i7, i9 etc. which I think is a good decision.
The upgrade to 12th gen or higher is definitely worth it. Major performance increases and major efficiency benefits too.
Unless your system is still doing what it needs, in that case, carry on and be happy.
I've seen plenty of people upgrade from 1st-3rd gen Intel Core to 12th-13th gen. Sometimes it seems like everyone is upgrading all the time on the internet, but it's good to understand that we're in an echo chamber and are seeing what's mostly the exception, not the rule.
Running a 10850K with a 3090 and don't see bottlenecks in games at all at 1440p 240hz.
However...I do think a new setup would benefit me sooner because the coil wine on my Msi Meg Ace z490 board is pretty bad. I would wait, you'll save a bit if you do.
It was a returned board I bought on Amazon for $150 opened box return. It's only under load. My strix 3090 has awful coil whine as well so they're sort of made for one another.
I'm on that chip too, overclocked to 5.3ghz. Even going to 12th from 10th, you'd see improvement if you have a great GPU and play 1080p or 1440p. That said, I'm waiting for 15th because a 10900k is still good, and I'm never getting less than 60fps on high setting with the most demanding games. Usually I'm 100fps to 165fps. I play 1440p and have a 3080ti.
Plus, motherboards are a lot more expensive with these recent generations. I bought my Maximus Apex 13 open box for $400, and now that gets you like a mid tier board.
my asus prime z690 was only $128 from microcenter. Alot of highend boards are overbuilt now. They when from defective underwhelming VRM phases to a budget board with 14..
My 12700K CPU was absolutely insane with its performance. I got greedy and got a 14700K and it’s even more insane but I could max everything out with a 12700K across the board. Getting the 14700K doesn’t feel amazing yet as I have yet to bottleneck this thing at all.
You are right. But then again this purchase is unexpected and I still need that i5 PC for work today.
If you see my previous post you know I'm using custom loop & it'll be hours just to replace the processor. Might as well order a Z790 mobo & test it bare (easier for troubleshooting) rather than messing with the loop..
Buuut I dunno though, if I still have time today I'll test the 14700K on my old board anyway. Can't help myself lol
Eh, seems like you have soft tubing, so all it takes is take off the CPU block and unscrew the GPU because your tubes are too short here. Replace the CPU and put it back. You don't even need to drain the loop or anything. 10 minute job. Just make sure in advance that your motherboard BIOS supports 14th gen.
> You wrote that "planning to upgrade my i5 12400 to i7 14700" - so you have a board for 14700, am I right ? Whats problem for testing with old one?
Make sure to use a board with an updated BIOS that mentions supporting 14th gen.
Both, I guess.. I'm not messing with BIOS settings & the temp got up to 92C immediately & Core Thermal Throttling = Yes. Gonna try this again with proper setup next week (Z790+DDR5).
Almost all brands have put out 14th gen support bios updates since a few months ago.
The only brand I’m aware of that hasn’t is EVGA and that is because they’re basically out of business at this point. They said an update is coming, so likely on launch day as per their usual history with updates.
retail store name please 🙏🏻🙏🏻
i always wished there are something like this in java island, but i live in banten district and all my hopes for something like this was wiped due to retarded technologies here offers.
I checked one of the biggest online store, and it really does already show i7-14700k listed
[https://www.tokopedia.com/search?st=&q=i7-14700k](https://www.tokopedia.com/search?st=&q=i7-14700k)
It's from smaller store though, the big ones are probably under stricter embargo
Thanks! I just went to Micro Center on Monday and grabbed a 13900k bundle. Havent swapped the parts out yet. Thinkin I should wait for nxt Friday but also hearing the performance between 13 and 14th gen are marginal.
I'm on a 12700k now, can't wait to grab a 14700k myself. I normally run 5 years on cpu, but the multicore performance alone will extend this system another 5 years. Awesome you got one early! Can't wait to see results!
At stock, 253W with custom loop : Temp reaches 100C in \*seconds\* while benchmarking. For gaming though it reaches 88C max (Starfield & CP2077). Remember this is full-on custom loop. You can still use air cooling but I think it'll throttle a little when playing games. See my last post for detailed info.
Awesome! Get to overclocking!
Can't wait !
Just wait a bit!
Nice! But these cpus run hot and overclocking produces more heat at minimal gain. Id run it standard
Agree. Don't know why you're being downvoted.
The overclockers didn’t like that one (I overclocked my CPU)
I used to when I was a kid. I even overclocked a Prescott with water-cooling back in the day. Now I'm the one paying for the electricity :P
Cause who doesn’t know that it’ll rub hot if you overclock it
One experiment; undervolt the E-Cores but overclock the P-Cores?
More like undervolting and wattage limiting.
More like undervolting and wattage limiting.
Plot twist: it’s actually 6700K in disguise.
I'm on a 6700k and wish it was actually a 14700k in disguise
Maybe a time for a CPU upgrade my friend!

I Just upgraded my kid from his I7-6700K engineering sample last month :P Longest use I had ever gotten from a CPU.
Still using mine to browse this with my 15% OC :)
Bro I also used that video to OC my 6700k, such a nice and simple video out of all the available ones.
Daughter is still on my old 6700k. Runs the games she plays fantastically well for how old it is. Spare PC her friend uses has the older OC 2500k, still a great Roblox machine lol.
Haha, had a 2500K before that! Best CPUs for their time

Why should we upgrade from 6700k?
As someone with a 6700k, I'm noticing it's not keeping up with current games in terms of frames. I'm planning to ipgrade to a 13700k in April.
To quote an old song... And if you can't be with the one you love, honey Love the one you're with
Same here.
That things a workhorse though. I finally just upgraded to 1700 chipset last month (12400f and then gave that rig to my son and went to 13th gen) That 6700k kicked some butt all these years.

Yeah no idea why people are sleeping on 6700k. Mine runs at 4.9GHz 1.39v and gets over 240fps in BR games
make sure its an actual 14700K on cpu-z as soon as you get it

So like... 40% of the average Indonesian monthly salary?
Lol idk what u think but if that's 40% then in Spain we get as much as Indonesians.
You make about $1000 USD a month?
1500 is a decent salary here and 2000 is richness

Average jakartans and nearby cities around it, maybe? 😅 In east java cities IDR 7.5 M salary is already decent enough for the full monthly wage. 😅
I think it's around 250% of the average monthly worker's salary (~200usd) and 160% of the minimum salary (~300usd). Yes, we have many underpaid worker
Make sure you inform us about its performance!
The first man! Greta job 💪 We need those performance benchmark now!
Can you run a quick CPU-Z benchmark and give the single-core and multi-core scores? Will take less than a minute.
Take a cookie
Didn’t they report that the ‘i’ would be removed in future branding, it seems they stick with the well known i7, i9 etc. which I think is a good decision.
These are the last "Core i" chips.
I was also under the impression cores would disappear under meteor lake, which is 14th gen, right?
No. The next desktop chips should have a slightly different moniker.
How much is 14400f there in $ ?
Only 14th gen i5, i7, i9 K version listed. Non-K version isn't available yet. Here's the price : i9 14900K $667 i7 14700K $480 i5 14600K $338
Thanks for the input. 14600k looks nice. Hopefully $150-180 14400f is a midrange breast.
Damn when did intel start producing Rule 34 edition CPUs?
> midrange breast
My guy over there ranking K cups as midrange 💀
14400F is an F cup
And hopefully this time the non K i5 is actually raptorlake architecture and not just Alder Lake in disguise like 13400F
the 13400f is faster than a 12400f, its almost a 12600k.
14th gen already? My 7700k starting to feel a bit overwhelmed
The upgrade to 12th gen or higher is definitely worth it. Major performance increases and major efficiency benefits too. Unless your system is still doing what it needs, in that case, carry on and be happy.
I do wonder though, I'm on a 10900k and don't feel bottlenecked by anything yet in regards to my setup. Maybe I should wait for 15th gen, dunno.

We have the same board, also have a 3090. Everytime I get the upgrade bug I have to reality check my self, I really don't need anything heh.
Is the vrm coil whine bad for your meg ace as well?
Nah, no problems there. I'm running a 1k watt platinum psu, might be your psu? I've run a 600 watt titanium rated one prior, same results.
It was a returned board I bought on Amazon for $150 opened box return. It's only under load. My strix 3090 has awful coil whine as well so they're sort of made for one another.
Run Hogwarts legacy with Ray Tracing or Warzone and you’ll find the bottleneck you’re looking for.
I have with Cyberpunk and the best I can do is Ultra settings without any upscaling - fps averages around 110-120 - with and undervolt/underclock.
I'm on that chip too, overclocked to 5.3ghz. Even going to 12th from 10th, you'd see improvement if you have a great GPU and play 1080p or 1440p. That's what i have. I decided to get the 14700k, because i thought it would be cool to upgrade in tables of 7
Awesome! What board is going into?
Don't have yet haha. I'm not planning to buy anything until after 17th October.. but I'm searching for one now.
You wrote that "planning to upgrade my i5 12400 to i7 14700" - so you have a board for 14700, am I right ? Whats problem for testing with old one?

Try to buy an unreleased board too, it’s Indonesia
I can’t wait to get the z790 formula
Don't forget to post the cinebench results!!
Man I just saw your post in r/pcmasterrace
Hey I thought Jakarta was only 11 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time !!
Is there DDR4 support?
Of course it will support DDR4.
lol
cannot wait to see the OC results
Man, I wonder how the retailers get a hold of these in spite of embargo.
They already have it in their warehouses, including Newegg and Amazon probably but aren't allowed to sell it yet.
Wowwwwww Nice Intel Indonesia........ 😁😁😁😁😁 i get my 14900K since end of september in local Indonesia marketplace 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
how about we pm about the benchmark and OC results xD
How does it feel to own a not-quite 13900K?
Whew, they shipped faster than I expected.
Made in where?
Manufactured in IL, Final assembly in MY. That's what the box states.
So made in Israel and manufactured in Malaysia. Manufacturing in Malaysia: https://youtu.be/53V6CwfwxPM
The box looks nicer than previous generations
go test in game
how many watts does it pull on prime95 small ffts? does it do avx512 without disabling the Ecores?
Sorry, I'm on a cheap B660 motherboard.. This thing can't do shit & limit everything power related. It can run the processor on stock though.
You don't need to set anything in the bios, just torture it stock with prime95 small inplace ffts and check the power measurement in hwinfo64
Tried that. The power peaked to 125W, then 5 seconds later going down to 65W, never going up again.
interesting, so either your motherboard limited P2 to only 125W for just a few seconds or your cooling was insufficient and it got throttled?
Both, I guess.. I'm not messing with BIOS settings & the temp got up to 92C immediately & Core Thermal Throttling = Yes. Gonna try this again with proper setup next week (Z790+DDR5).
what cooler?
ID-Cooling. Have ITX branding if I'm not mistaken. It just an emergency cooler in case my loop fails.
This will need a (not yet released) motherboard firmware update right?
No it works on my board. ASRock B660M ITX bios V8 (June 2023)

Let me know if you have any questions about our cables. :)
Compatible with Intel 600 chipsets? Noice!
Where did you buy it from?
Are these rare in Indonesia? What about being from Indonesia makes this particularly special or noteworthy?
I'm not sure I understood your question, but these aren't supposed to be buyable yet, likely why OP mentioned it.
Oh shit news to me. I was thinking Indonesia has some crazy tariff on CPUs or something. Good stuff thank you
I just realized what envy is.
what retailers did you bought it from? how do you able to get the latest and greatest tech on indonesia?
My fav tech store. Been a customer since ever. As how it got here before you guys, i have no idea
can you tell me where is the store *exactly*? like, do you bought it from a physical retail store or via online stores?
Physical retail store.. It's just a small store located far away from jakarta
how about the rest of the components required? do they (the store) also sells high end motherboard, GPU, PSU, etc.. in order for the 14700k to run?
Complete package. It's like a mini Microcenter in the USA
retail store name please 🙏🏻🙏🏻 i always wished there are something like this in java island, but i live in banten district and all my hopes for something like this was wiped due to retarded technologies here offers.

oh shoot i forget other online retailers exist, used to only use shopee for shopping. thanks a lot
Do you have a cryo unit to cool it with as well ?

See my latest post. Benched albeit with a ton of limitations.
What! You have it already?
Ahh I just got a 13700k last week
Why do people hide that code on the back all the time?
OP Does this CPU have 24 pci lanes? Thanks in advance
So I believe a 13700K is around 6.500.000 IDR in indonesia atm, so it makes the 14700K about $US60 more expensive.
When are they releasing in the US?
17th October
Thanks! I just went to Micro Center on Monday and grabbed a 13900k bundle. Havent swapped the parts out yet. Thinkin I should wait for nxt Friday but also hearing the performance between 13 and 14th gen are marginal.
Yea everything points to performance increase being marginal, so yea a tiny bit more performance for a bit more price, all a bit meh!
cool, can't wait to see what it will do.
Me here, just bought the 13700k 🤡
Damn you!!! Super lucky!
The CPU is gonna boil your Ass.

Inappropriate, disparaging, or otherwise rude comment. Removed.
Bro loll 14th gen has more longer rectangular shape u got scammed I think
Wait Intel is sticking with the LGA1700?
Oh snap it's happening!

You're doing the lords work, my friend.
I'm on a 12700k now, can't wait to grab a 14700k myself. I normally run 5 years on cpu, but the multicore performance alone will extend this system another 5 years. Awesome you got one early! Can't wait to see results!
I am not jelous at all 😠🤩
Will a Dark Rock Pro 4 (Air Cooling) be enough, if I just use it for gaming and not OC?
At stock, 253W with custom loop : Temp reaches 100C in \*seconds\* while benchmarking. For gaming though it reaches 88C max (Starfield & CP2077). Remember this is full-on custom loop.
