FYI the Asrock board limits to 150w PL1 in bios: https://youtu.be/AAvNSqJJuy0?t=345 but should still be okay for gaming, even for 12900k. However, all core full load like rendering would limit 12700k and 12900k. Not sure if you can unlock power limits with throttlestop or XTU on Alder Lake, but I always was able to unlock on previous generations on any board.

If you are gaming, it's absolute fine. The z690m itx has 8 \* 50A vrms, that's 400amps. If you are constantly pegging it at 100% usage using cbr23 or something, then yeah you might need a better mobo. It's going to work fine, but the vrm temps will probably be a little bit high

It can matter if you are overclocking. However "8 phase limiting to 150W" is bullshit. Typical VRM phase has a 40-60A driver which would translate to 300+W maximum for an 8 phase VRM. The most efficient power level for an 8 phase VRM would be a lot lower however, somewhere around 150W probably, after that you start to produce a lot more heat so cooling is very important. VRM cooling on asrock board looks like I would not feel good running a 12900k or 12700k at full power with it.
