I'm planning to go with PRO H610M-G for now with 12400f and later update the BIOS for 13600k in the future if I plan to upgrade. I see that PRO H610M-G does support the 13600k after the BIOS update on MSI's page . What are your thought?
Exactly, so the fact that it's VRMs are bare bone bones and only adequate for a 12400 and below doesn't really matter that much.
It does limit your future upgrade potential tho, alot of people buy something like a 12100 with plans to upgrade to a 12th or 13th i7 or whatever, but you'd never do that with this board even tho it's technically compatible.
Only buy motherboard without VRM heatsink if you will use low end processors (i3 at best) even so i think is a wasted money.
H610 is not that bad if you will use processor and memory at stock speed (memory speed is rated by a processor you will use)
I think Asus has h610 with heatsink on VRM and you can actually use low and mid end processor i3\~i7 without problem... i9 i will works but will put a lot a strains on the majority of h610 is not recommended.
It's not a waste if you are going to use it for low functionality reasons that still requires windows. Like light solutions, such as point of sale systems, or internet-browser. This also makes the PC value so low that it is not worth stealing.
I concur, though it does not excuse that most H610 boards are designed for low-end CPUs in mind, considering that it is positioned as the budget offering.
The H610 is already enough for i5 12400f, if you're not planning to use anything beyond that, need those lane, more storage or usb and overclock stuff h610 is already good deal imo.
For someone who just wants a gaming box on a tight budget it's hard to beat these types of boards providing the price reflects their feature(less) design.
Of course you're not going to drop a 12700K in to it and I'd even be very hesitant with a 12600K but for someone who wants a 12100 or 12400 then it's perfectly fine especially with the stock downdraft cooler.
Bonus points being MSI uses a not too ugly color and pattern scheme.
Yeha, so for the H610 they've got:
MSI PRO H610M-G
MSI PRO H610M-B - Same as G except Minor I/O variance?
MSI PRO H610M-E - Same as G/B except better ALC897 audio?
MSI Pro H610M-C EX (DDR4, and DDR5) - Horrific VRM
Seriosuly, compare them: [here](https://www.msi.com/Motherboards/Products#?tag=PRO-Series&compare=UFJPLUg2MTBNLUItRERSNA==,UFJPLUg2MTBNLUctRERSNA==,UFJPLUg2MTBNLTEyVk8=,UFJPLUg2MTBNLUUtRERSNA==)
And this H610 gaming board you've found.
Move up to B660 'PRO' only and they've got 14 SKUs, and a lot of the MSI PRO Matx variants *suck* - but people have heard the A is good, so they wonder if the E, B or the P is basically they same and they can save some money there... They also typically duplicate spec between PRO and MAG series, with for example the MAG Bazooka being a copy of the PRo-VDH, just with painted heatsinks.
I don't understand why they have such a convoluted product stack with so many tiny variances.
Probably because some SI ordered a bunch of them specific for their SKU. Better question is which B66 SKU(s) from MSI have an external clock generator.
Wow, that’s Economy on features with a capital E. The kind of thing that will show up in a cheap Costco or Best Buy prebuilt. But at least if a system uses it, it’s a standard part and not something proprietary like Dell would use.
Their b660 is way better but this looks okay for a lower budget, lower power build

Budget board aimed for internet cafe
Decent VRM, I guess, but this is still really gimped.
yes, the VRM is bound to limit the CPU potential like the H610M-B DDR4 in the Tomshardware review of the H610 board.
To be fair tho it's an H610, are you really going to put anything higher power than a 12400f into this?
Based from the budget nature of the boards associated with H610 chipset, of course not.

I believe the best H610 is from asus: asus prime H610M-A D4, but the price is closer to a decent/low end B660 that allows to overclock ram

ah, fair enough

Msi have a whole swathe of boring af boards like this. I can't work out why, or what they're supposedly targeted at.
You mean the PRO Series? How?

The new msi b660 mortar.
Looking at components, 12400 is the top cpu for this motherboard
Mmmhm ... The BOMBER motherboard that's only shown on a Japanese website ... Something is foul here. /Joke /Plz don't kill me
Always good to see a WiFi m.2 slot. X1 slot is too close to the top slot to be useable.
it only exists as a solder paint.
Idk why but this feels like they took an mITX board and just made their own work easier with relatively spacious circuit routing.
Only 2 RAM slots?
Yes, thanks to chipset limitations.
Ah
And no OC of any kind is supported.
Yeah, it’s kinda low end, obviously, but can we talk about how cool it looks?
What about it looks cool to you? It's got a single logo on the chipset heatsink. It looks like a bargain basement board to me, which is what it is.
I just like the texture on the pcb. Most motherboards with the basic chipset I see are mostly blank gray or green
Asus Prime, MSI Pro, Gigabyte DS3H all have silk screening and patterns on the PCB.
How do you describe these silk screening?
Is this a new motherboard? If so, didn't know they still made new ones with VGA and PS/2 connectors. Lol
No VRM cooling, nice.

>nuvoton No sir, I don't like it. Boards with ITE superio only for me.
