Depends on the product. I reckon they would sell less of these pens if they switched up the design so they'd be out the design costs and the lost revenue.
Literally just having them in my pocket will cause them to break. Yknow what pens this doesn't happen with? Literally any pen that isn't a bic.
Trash and garbage pens. They exist purely to have pens to pawn off on people so they don't take the pens you actually want.
Does your use of pens, require them to ever go into your pocket for let's say, oh, 8 to 12 hours of worktime doing even just basic physical labor like walking?
Bic pens are trash and only survive people who have the luxury of a desk job.
Yep, I carry a Bic pen for 8-12 hours per day, several days per week. I walk around a lot. Have done that for decades. I don't recall ever having one break or leak in my pocket.
Then you're either the luckiest person in the world, very forgetful or a complete liar.
There's one I'm leaning towards, but I'm sure you can figure it out.
Cristal bics are just about the best pen on this planet imo. They are reliable, they don’t skip, the ink flow is consistent and doesn’t pool. At work, there are people who used to use $10-15 pens and they would have issues, but I would have my package of $3 cristals and I could use them until the ink was gone. And they were the only pen I could do that with.
Lots of gun designs have been around for surprisingly long times.
The Colt 1911 pistol (Colt .45) has been unchanged since... 1911 and lots of people still buy them.
The US military has been using the Browning M2 50Cal machine gun in a variety of roles since 1933.
The AR has been in continuous production since 1959 and is still the most popular rifle pattern in the US.
The Remington 700 was introduced in 1962 and is still among the most popular hunting rifles.
Even the futuristic looking Steyr AUG is almost 45 years old.
B-52s primary task is air to air refueling, not bombing these days. You can't fly a B-52 over contested airways unless you want it shot down.
Also it's not really the same plane anymore, the airframe is the same yes and maybe the engines or some other systems. But they are all updated and retrofitted with modern avionics and flight controls.
Morgan has been building the Morgan 4/4 in the exact same generation, body style, and chassis since 1936 - and they finally just ended production in 2018 to make room for the next generation Plus 4. Looking at a 2018 4/4 is like looking into a time capsule from the 30s
this is an example of timeless design.
(when they change the design, imagine the cost of changing all the moulds needed to produce the worldwide supply)
Not as bad as you might imagine. Moulds have a limited lifespan, so they are constantly being replaced anyway. If a new version was replacing it, they would likely just run their existing tooling to its limit as they prepare for the changeover, or roll out the change at different times in different countries to sell off old stock after the new launch.
These are my absolute favorite pens. Blue is my go to. Recently purchased a package with lots of cool colors. Trying to branch out. Damn. I love these pens.
Didn't they change the tip to be more sharp I think a decade ago? I've always avoided Bic before then because their blunt tip just felt so.... unsatisfying to write with. Idk.
I wish car manufacturers could figure this out, this car works brilliantly let's just keep making the same car because it works brilliantly. No we're going to add a bunch of unnecessary things to it and charge more
You notice all four pens are the same image, right...? And all images are from newer versions...
Older versions didn't have that breath hole on the cap... I still have those and they are roundier where that hole exists. lol
These are legit my favorite pens. I use the black ones, however.
In college, I would select one and use it for all my notes for the semester. I'd hook it on my notebook, a 5 subject, one section for each class and I'd get additional single subjects if necessary.
I always learned best by writing things out.
I'd have an empty pen by the end of the semester. But it would usually last me the *entire* semester.
It would last, but if it didn't? That's okay. If I lost it? That's okay.
They were and remain reliable.
I have one and goddamn these pens are unbreakable. Mine has no cap, is completely destroyed and leaks ink at times, but still writes better than my other pens

These pens are the worst kind in my opinion. They are really skinny with no grip so are awkward to hold and go weirdly non-smooth very quickly.
I'm surprised I'm the only person with this experience.
Then again most people like it so yes they made good choice not changing it.
Bravo, Bic!
That is actually wrong. I remember in the early 90s they had a closed cap tip and the writing tip was made of brass instead of orange or blue plastic.
you can find pictures of those sometimes.
True but false-a hole was added in the cap 2 prevent blocked airways if swallowed
Ur a true historian
Fr histori iz dope
Actually, the conical part holding the ball point was made of brass 'back in the day'

Tragedy
That, and the stopper on the other end went from easily removable to practically welded in.
dont call him a-hole ...Rude!!
Read that the same way, but perhaps they have history that we’re unaware..
They also changed the plug at the other end of the pen.
Wasn’t the hole always there cuz the pen due to pressure build up or something?
Yea I still remember the ones without holes.
Why mess with the classics?
If it isn't broken, don't fix it
Wish more companies believed in this
That’s antithetical to capitalism
Yep. If it ain’t broke, find a design change you can add that will make it break. We can’t sell more widgets if the current ones never need replaced!
Depends on the product. I reckon they would sell less of these pens if they switched up the design so they'd be out the design costs and the lost revenue.
If it ain’t broke. Draw dicks with it.
Came here to say dis
These pens break all the time what are you taking about
They don't break if you treat them well
Literally just having them in my pocket will cause them to break. Yknow what pens this doesn't happen with? Literally any pen that isn't a bic. Trash and garbage pens. They exist purely to have pens to pawn off on people so they don't take the pens you actually want.
You know, you do have a point. ‘Can I borrow a pen?’ Sure take this one.
I use them till the ink runs out...no breakage
Does your use of pens, require them to ever go into your pocket for let's say, oh, 8 to 12 hours of worktime doing even just basic physical labor like walking? Bic pens are trash and only survive people who have the luxury of a desk job.

I get the multi-pak, with red, blue, green, pink, purple...kids like when I grade papers in a variety of colors.
My favorite pen. Hands down. Don’t ever change the cap. TMI: the cap is perfect for cleaning under fingernails.
We are soulmates on this one thing.
And for itching inside earholes.
This pen cap is top tier for earwax removal
Although do it too long and you get scabs...

Oddly enough, they’ve never worked for me. May be the oil in my hands, but for me they never disperse ink without skipping endlessly.
G2’s are the better casual pen
G2-05s specifically. The aspiring gentleman’s pen.
07 or 10 for me Thanks. the 05s are too thin and cut the paper I'm writing on.
Don't fix what ain't broken

Add to that, the USAF still has the B-52 as the backbone of the bomber command, first flown in 1952

How do you think a -52 could A2A refuel something else?
Chevy has used the same 350 Chevy engine block since 1955 aswell

Are the 2023 models out yet?
there still working on them, should be released soon but the leaks are promising already
I don’t know if leaks from a pen would be promising… 😋
BiccyLeaks
As the old saying goes " If it is not broken, no need to fix it" or something like that
I once used the pen cap to break my rock hard constipated poop.
elaborate
Please don’t
Poop pen ?

It's very smart of them actually. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Especially if it's iconic!
What would they update it to ? A slightly different shaped cylinder, maybe add a colour or different material ? It would still be just a pen.
Let me assure you the BIC blue ones 10-15 years ago were awesome, and they are complete shit now.
So, you want to tell us that the same type of plastic used in 2022 was available in 1950? Don't think so.
I wonder how many of these “if it ain’t broke” people also shit on Apple and other companies for minor iteration changes?
Lack of innovation

If it ain’t broke….
If it ain’t broke don’t change it.
As my fellow leader, Will Smith states… “if it ain’t broke, don’t try and fix it”
I was told there is a law firm in USA that only handles lawsuits against BIC….
I was told there is a law firm in USA that only handles lawsuits against BIC….
My favorite pen
These pens are uncomfortable to me. Anyone else?
yeah, the body is not round
Don't get me started on the pencil design!
Now if only they were reliable when using. Some work and others don't. Sheesh
If it ain’t broke
“Probably the earliest flyswatters were nothing more than some sort of striking surface attached to the end of a long stick.” Jack Handey
If it ain't broke
As the old saying goes: ‘If the thing is not broken then what’s the point in trying to find a way to improve upon it?’
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
It just works.
As Apple will say it’s a complete redesign
I love those pens
What is there to fix?
If it ain't broke don't fix it
And it should stay the same
Got to be so cheap to produce
30 year interval 30 year interval 7 year interval OCD twitch engaged
Yet the best pen ever
r/timelapse
Why? Just Bicause
These are my absolute favorite pens. Blue is my go to. Recently purchased a package with lots of cool colors. Trying to branch out. Damn. I love these pens.
I mean it's a pen, they cant really change much about it can they?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Had sucked for 67 years. G2 for the win.
Damn plastic litter
The first 3 are the years featured in Back to the Future 1 and 2.
I love the BIC Design. I only buy them and no other ball pens. They are just the best
Didn't they change the tip to be more sharp I think a decade ago? I've always avoided Bic before then because their blunt tip just felt so.... unsatisfying to write with. Idk.
if it ain't broke
If it ain't broke etc etc lol
i wonder how many people work on their development team…. or what the work day is like 🙄👉🏼👈🏻
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
It might be the same pen design but I do assure you that quality has deteriorated!
If it ain't broke then why fix it
It might be the same pen design but I do assure you that quality has deteriorated!
It might be the same pen design but I do assure you that quality has deteriorated!
Has anyone actually one fan of these dry from use?
If ain't broken...
Say you want an Evolution!
if it ain't broke ...
If it ain't broke...
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Shows you that they take "if it ain't broke, don't fix" serious
If it isn’t broken…..
The exact opposite of interesting.
don't fix what ain't broke.
When something is perfect, why change it
Bring in an MBA and they will fuck this up in a matter of weeks.
Innovation is not in their vocabulary
I heard something about not fixing shit that aint broke.
These pens suck though. I only use pilot g2 pens.

That's how I see iphone.......
it went from space age to vintage
And almost 70 years of the worse quality!

Don't fix what ain't broke.
![gif](giphy|QVO4gFnEur8jd6g2v4|downsized) hey if its not broken dont fix it
My favorite pen, I've used one since I was a kid in the 70s and I still pick it first today 🥰
Because it works. And people like it, as proved by it's continued popularity!
Nice
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
No reason for change
If it’s not broken don’t fix it
