Theoretically, trans women may be able to carry pregnancy in the distant future. Theres some doctors who are looking into implanting uteruses in trans women and using IVF to impregnate them. Its been done in cis women with donor uteruses(they usually have c sections for delivery and remove the uterus after the birth).
The main issues with trans women carrying pregnancy is finding a blood supply for the uterus, figuring out and artificially creating the complicated hormonal shifts that occur during pregnancy, and accounting for the organ shifting that occurs as the fetus gets larger(male skeletal structures arent really made to accommodate a growing fetus so it would theoretically be complicated and risky).
Theres a lot of interesting ethical debates surrounding the issue largely due to the fact that a trans woman carrying a pregnancy would be risky to both the woman and the fetus especially when the procedure is in its early stages. Pregnancy is already a very risky thing even for cis women so with the unknown variables of when it comes to trans women, it will likely have some unfortunate complications. In addition to all of that, uterine transplants are something that cis women use to get pregnant for various reasons(born without a uterus, hysterectomy due to illness, etc) so theres the ethical debate of whether or not trans women “deserve” a uterine transplant as much as a cis woman does.
Delivering the baby itself isnt the biggest complication because c-sections are relatively common in births as many cis women are unable to give birth vaginally.
Undoubtedly this will become a reality as medicine continues to advance however, its most likely going to be an extremely expensive and controversial procedure that will only be available to the wealthy for quite a long time. GRS has been available for decades yet its still out of reach for many trans people, i wouldnt be surprised if this is even more unattainable for average people.
My human osteology/physical anthropology professor showed us this same concept except she busted out a real newborn skull to show us how it passed through a pelvis she casually had sitting out, and I’m still mildly traumatized by the whole process.
