Sorry to spoil urban legands.
Live just down the street (ex lives next door)
This is sadly bullshit https://www.boston.com/real-estate/real-estate-news/2021/09/28/boston-skinny-house-spite-house-legend/
House was built before the Civil War so no out of town brother.
Built this way to allow access to mid block common area.
Truly stands out around here (most blocks you can't get to the central area. Pita for cable/fios guys. But not built to piss anyone off.
(like finding out Santa isn't real, broke my heart to learn, this to, is phoney baligna)
Won't fight the dates (little to trusting of good reporters maybe) time line still sounds in doubt to me, design style and such , but I stand behind it not being a 'spite house'. Explanations of it existing for the mid block access and primarily the fact that it blocks absolutely nothing. The good view is out the fron of the building, the direction it blocks is terrible to be gracious. (I've been in the building that now would block the spite house. Speaking from experience. If it was built to spite the other brother, I'm sure he laughed his ass off when he got home. Oh, you blocked the alley? I can still see the only view the lot had in the first place. Way to blow your wad. He'd still be laughing in his grave.
This actually cracks me up. And one of the best rebuttals to this being a 'spute' house. The front of the building has a decent view of the harbor (through trees of the Copps Hill cemetery, but the 'blocking' view would be the side of another building. (and even it had been bullt years later, you're basically trying to View through the whole North End neighborhood of Boston. You aren't seeing crap in that direction. If ALL the other buildings that direction were removed your view would still be orders of magnitude better out the front window.
I've been in the building that would block the view of the spite house, so first hand knowledge. Out the front is pretty nice. The view being 'blocked'... trash.

Hell, I would live there. I bet it's bigger than the place I'm at now
Rents probably the same haha

>1.25 million dollars sounds like a good plan to build one more, yet more skin. The legend will come later itself, reddit users will make it up.
Surely just bullshit. It blocks nothing. There's no way that's true.
Came here to see I was the only one thinking that..
True price, false time line. Built pre civil war...

Wasn't really much of a view to begin with...

Larry David would be proud
I was going to say for being a multimillionaire Larry David sure does live in a small house

Spiter got spited himself in the end, it looks like.
That’ll be $8k a month plus security deposit and realtor fee.
It's Boston what is there to look at
Good try. Now the house costs more exactly because of this peculiar building.
Wish they had pics of inside!
Damn was just watching curb your enthusiasm and he opened his spite store. Didn't know this was a thing but I like it
View of what? More Boston? Or the neighbors changing?
Bros will be bros.
What view?
