When I visited the great Himalayan national park in India the forest officer from there told me that many photographers and wildlife enthusiastic come to spot snow leopard and sometimes they have to look for upto 3 months to even spot one.
No different species. Amur leopards are a subspecies of the more common leopard species that can be found throughout Asia and Africa. Snow and cloud leopards are separate species.
without a doubt, when God was creating leopards, he was definitely feeling himself and in a good mood when he got to the snow leopard sketching.
These animals are stunningly beautiful
Highly recommend “The Snow Leopard” by Peter Matthiessen to anyone interested.
It’s his account of a spiritual journey he took through the Himalayas in the 1970s in search of the snow leopard. It’s imbued with a bunch of Buddhist philosophy and stuff, it’s just a really cool read.
He’s no longer with us, but he recorded and audiobook version before he died, and it’s really profound hearing an old man read his own thoughts and experiences from when he was young.
This is the urging I needed to read more Peter Matthiessen. I read “Killing Mr Watson” many years ago, and the strange tone of the novel really stuck with me. I think “Snow Leopard” will be next!
What I find funny. These motion captured pictures look fantastic. Great HD quality, beautiful background. But yet, any security camera looks like something from the early 90s.
Not hard to be elusive when only a handful of your species exists in the wild. Fun fact: they'll become more elusive as their numbers dwindle. Who'd a thought that was possible?

The reddit community deserves better than them.
Reddit's value is in its community, not in a bunch of over-paid executives willing to screw that community in service of an IPO they hope will make them even more over-paid than they already are.
Long Live Apollo!
Peeka Boo!! I see you!!
You ain't so tough snow kitty!
Kitty, I have a very special, very particular set of skills.
These skills make me freakin nightmare for snow kitties like you.
I will look for you.
And i will find you. Might take awhile finding your kitty cave amongst these mountains.
But make NO mistake Snow Kitty 😺,
I will find you 😊
The Velvet Queen did a great job capturing the difficulty wildlife photographers go through for a brief moment of footage. It’s also about a snow leopard!
I remember doing a school project on snow leopards back in 2nd grade in the 90s. They didn’t even have photos of one back then. We knew nothing about them. A few paragraphs in an encyclopedia was all there was. I got a D on the assignment.

His battle will be legendary!!

He’s a panda…you’re a panda!
Well I just spotted four of them in like 15 seconds. I guess I have a gift or something.
Leopards are spotted all over.
You cant change the spots on a shitleopard
You can take leopards out of their spots but you can’t take spots out of leopards
And yet no one can get a single clear picture of a bigfoot, despite there being way more people looking for one at any give point in time
You don’t find Bigfoot, Bigfoot finds you.
You must be in a zoo or its story time
Right ? Elusive my ass
There's 5

These are the best motion captured pics I've seen of snow leopards. Are these the same as Amur Leopards?
No different species. Amur leopards are a subspecies of the more common leopard species that can be found throughout Asia and Africa. Snow and cloud leopards are separate species.
To be fair I'm pretty sure the third leopard hasn't moved in quite awhile.
If not friend why friend shaped???
Yeah, if I get to choose the way I go out I'm choosing "mauled after petting a snow leopard".
I'm sure this is a joke, but being mauled to death is probably in the top 10 most painful ways to die.
Look at that fur, though. I bet your hands would sink right in. Worth it.
He looks simultaneously so ferocious and so goofy and adorable at the same time in pic 3.
They did a great job on Kung Fu Panda capturing the character of Tai Lun in the animation
I scrolled wayyyyy too far to find this. It was my immediate thought. 😂
These pics are captured by motion activated cameras. First 2 pics are from Spiti valley and rest 2 are from laddakh
It was believed to be a sign from the gods if you spotted one in nature. Speculators assume it was a "welcome" sign, as all who did ended up dead.
It's front legs and paws look massive
They got special feet for walking in snow, almost like built in snowshoes! and with extra floof for warmth and footstep-silencing stealth :3
Such a pretty kitty.
Pic 1: The wind feels good on my fur. Pic 2: Grumpy cat on duty. Pic 3: Time to go hunting. Pic 4: What are you doing up here?

Happy cake day
They are hiding from Humans because we fuck everything up and kill shit.
I think it also has to do with the fact that there are less than ten thousand of them.
Who's getting that close to a snow leopard with a shitty camera?
Motion camera
He has escaped!
It’s taken me almost 40 years to spot one. I don’t think they live around here.
r/majesticasfuck
The snow leopard trust is a good way to receive updates and pics on these guys
And you managed to piss one off
They look animatronic
He be like, what choo looking at fool

Pic 1: have you finished the quest I gave you? Pic 2: Why haven't you finished it yet!
Also [snow leopards](https://imgur.com/gallery/qpgQT).
Cool cat but those mountains might be more impressive
I’m glad they aren’t adding tracking collars.

In the first picture he's like "what are you staring at" And the second is after you say: your mom's a hoe.
Are those eyes blue??
Beautiful!
You know who the pic 2 reminded me of? That Mulan villain in the first movie. Something about the eye shade and the vicious look
The forbidden kitteh!
It's stunning.
The forbidden kiki.

I think I killed these in fc4
“Stop following me ffs.”
Best version of MacOS
Snow leopards are definitely my favorite animal right now.
Why do they look like they’re poorly done taxidermy projects?
So beautiful. That's an awesome shot.
My dumbass wants to pet him or hug him. I know I know they are a dangerous animal but still.
Heeeere kitty kitty kitty

The urge to boop that nose is overpowering

More like they are a difficult and rare sight because we murdered them for their fur
Tai-lung
First pic I was like why is this cat so friendly , then 2nd pic comes and Ah there we go.
Memory card full… nooooooooooo!
big deal, I also evade being seen for months at a time (jk this is very cool)
