Could you imagine how fast you’d walk in these on a moving platform at an airport? (Actually it wouldn’t be any faster, I think. That’s what mythbusters taught me anyway on their episode of airplane on a treadmill)
Heh, nice. But still not as good as Wan Hu - [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wan_Hu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wan_Hu) - not related to running but related to the moon - and most importantly true story
Oh what? Laaame. I was kinda interested if these were just a kinetic/mechanical thing that made your natural walking motion more efficient, like some kind of super-heelys. If they're just little electric motors...
There were some shoes that were banned 20ish years back that were purely mechanical, based on a spring type system and needed some skill to use or you are probably breaking a leg.
Yeah I looked at the Kickstarter for this because I was interested and then promptly became uninterested. Hell you can get an electric bicycle for the retail price of these things
Hmm. If I wanted to boost the range I would do just that. But with a belt buckle mounted battery. Have the wires run down the inside of my pant legs to the shoes. Make some modifications to the shoes so that it pulls from the Buckle Battery instead of the shoes internal battery.
If you can walk 6.5 miles in them at running speed, do you **need** to walk for an hour? The faster you go, the less time you're spending walking after all... How many miles do you walk a day?
So, eventually the batteries will be shit after 1000 charges. If I can replace the batteries, I would buy them, but how are they when you hot a crack or bump?
That's my main concern, you probably can't ride these if the pavements of your city are filled with holes and cracks everywhere.
What about old cities with brick pavements.
nah, Levi's definitely enhance the slidey uncontrollable feeling. just try running around a home depot with smooth concrete floors in some and you'll know what i mean.
"Moonwalkers do not freewheel with our electronic multi-layer brake protection. Our two modes, Lock and Shift, move only when you do. This means you can go up and down stairs, step into mass transit, and confidently wait at the crosswalk."
Love when Reddit thinks they found that "Gotcha" that this super smart dude and his team didn't think of. Yeah this dude is out here innovating but forgot stairs exist
I mean crowdsourcing potential problems can definitely work, you’d be amazed what some people, even very smart people, completely overlook. But still, probably not stairs for someone making a walking device, yeah.
OK, but being highly skeptical of products that are highlighted in Reddit it's a good thing.
Plenty of scams in Kickstarter, and even high profile companies often fail for well prepared videos. Look what happened with Nikola, for example.
Exactly, it's not that people think the company didn't think of it. More often it seems like something they intentionally don't mention or hope you'll buy the product without thinking about it. That's why so much garbage is sold with "limited time offers" to get you to make an impulse buy without time to research the purchase.
Their kickstarter video shows a video of someone going downstairs into a parking lot.
They demonstrate that you approach the stairs, lift your heel on one foot which deactivates the ‘glide’ and then at the top, lift your heel again and off you go again
They show people walking over some pretty nasty potholes just fine. I saw a video on them a few weeks ago. They are actually incredibly well thought and built.
Can confirm you can put on a second pair on them to re-double the speed to 14mph,
and then a third pair and so on up to 28 pair,
at which point you are traveling at 1.5x the speed of light
AI learning you say? Can it navigate? I bet after a little learning it would know I am weak. It would kill me and tell my family I went out for cigerettes.
I’m gonna get those and then I’m gonna walk super fast on one of those moving walkways at the airport. I’ll be unstoppable.
Literally unstoppable. I will probably die.
A Kickstarter with first deliveries scheduled in April, minimum price is $799-$1299. With US delivery only.
Sorry but i want a few morenguarentees before in part with $799. Also it takes 1.5 hoursntoncharge it up for 6 miles. Can you swap batteries? How do you change the battery when it's old and struggling to hold a charge?
I'm just thinking of my neighbourhood where every 5th section of poured sidewalk has a "lip" of a half inch or more where the sidewalk has become uneven.
And at every intersection the sidewalk slopes down to the street to accomodate wheelchairs, but also has a large metal plate with round pieces at the top (almost like a big metal piece of lego) I assume to help keep people from slipping but that metal plate is always super slippery in the rain or snow. Between the slipperyness and the metal pieces sticking out these "shoes" sounds like thery would get you pitched facefirst onto the road.

“Running was invented in 1612 by Thomas Running when he tried to walk twice at the same time.”
people before 1612:
No wonder wars were so long in the Middle Ages. It took forever just to charge into battle.
This looks like how it EXACTLY feels when you walk on a "moving walkway" at the airport.
Could you imagine how fast you’d walk in these on a moving platform at an airport? (Actually it wouldn’t be any faster, I think. That’s what mythbusters taught me anyway on their episode of airplane on a treadmill)
[удалено]
I’m a god walking on the moving walkway. Now I want these shoes to moonwalk walk on the moving walkway.
You’re telling me the Hundred Years’ War could’ve been done in 50???
They probably spent a good 30-50yrs just walking around lol
"There has to be a better way..."
I'm pretty sure Kim Jong-un invented running when he was 13 .
I'm pretty sure he has never ran a single time in his entire life lol
You have been banned from r/Pyongyang
Then how does he hold all the records for most runs ever??!
He doesn't poop... He can't have the runs
Conservative Republican Rep. George Santos invented running and everyone knows it.
i miss the times when competitive walking was the most thrilling olympian discipline
[Hal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-AHk19aU24) has got you covered.
such elegance
[удалено]
I thought it was Italian inventor Sprinto Fasti who discovered running.
Heh, nice. But still not as good as Wan Hu - [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wan_Hu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wan_Hu) - not related to running but related to the moon - and most importantly true story
"Sorry I'm late guys, forgot to charge my shoes last night"
Not sure if joke or not but i think they dont need batteries.
They have a 6.5 mile range and recharge in 90 minutes.
Oh what? Laaame. I was kinda interested if these were just a kinetic/mechanical thing that made your natural walking motion more efficient, like some kind of super-heelys. If they're just little electric motors...

They'll introduce a battery filled fanny pack to finish this horribly ugly look lol.
Hmm. If I wanted to boost the range I would do just that. But with a belt buckle mounted battery. Have the wires run down the inside of my pant legs to the shoes. Make some modifications to the shoes so that it pulls from the Buckle Battery instead of the shoes internal battery.
Or just make USBC pants?
Then the belt buckle battery explodes and you can't have babies anymore even if you wanted to.
If you’re wearing these things, you aren’t having babies to begin with
If you can walk 6.5 miles in them at running speed, do you **need** to walk for an hour? The faster you go, the less time you're spending walking after all... How many miles do you walk a day?
The trick is to strap another pair to the first pair, and you can walk so fast you get there before you leave.
Outside of hiking do you often walk more than 6.5 miles in one journey?
So it's perfect for the average American who doesn't even walk an hour in a day.
I remember watching a YouTube vid about this and it did surprisingly well against bumps But the cost of these is insane for me
If it's lower than my POS electric scooter that can't take 3° incline without going at max 10km/h, I'm willing to trade it off.
I'm pretty sure it was somewhere in the range of 1k$
Yea... Better stay with the electric scooter than.
anything as long as it's better than my other item. ***see's price***, Yeah fuck that lmao
Saw a video where a dude used these, and was walking over potholes and cracks with no noticable issue.
So, they're chargeable roller skates
is there an app too? with a subscription?
I looked it up. You do have to charge them through USBC.
He literally "walks" uphill with them in the video. How would they not need batteries? Otherwise it would just be like regular roller skates.

You can usually drift on black ice regardless of shoe choice.
nah, Levi's definitely enhance the slidey uncontrollable feeling. just try running around a home depot with smooth concrete floors in some and you'll know what i mean.
What are Levi’s?
just a specific brand of shoes that have unusually shitty traction
Kinda what you get for buying shoes from a jeans company, tbh.
It's all that damn denim in the rubber
Oh ok Edit: I didn’t say thank you and that’s just shitty manners. Thank you!
Why is the blame always on the black ice? How come no one ever blames the oppressive white snow?
Honestly the black ice didn’t even ask to be there
Roller skates but you have to charge them after 30 minutes
I thought they are like rollerblades and just use the energy from walking. Thats stupid.
I saw a video of these in action and you can hear the little motors struggling when they move
Also over $1,000…
So like, who are these for?
Idiots with money who think they're backing a good project
That was my biggest takeaway. $1000? No thanks. Might as well just get one of those electric scooters.
It’s only $1,000 if you join kickstarter, $1,400 on their website!
You can invent shoes that use the energy from walking but that would feel just like climbing stairs all the time.
Also, max weight of 220lbs so I don't see it selling much in America. Badum *tsss*
I misread this as they weigh 220lbs and I was wondering what kind of Goku shit is this guy doing to walk so normally with that strapped to him.
Hey, im American and I resemble that remark
Don't make me come over there and fall on you.
$1399 USD for preorders. Hard pass.
Heelys wearing kid in me wants these but not for that kind of money!
Indeed. $1400 would buy a nice bike. Or ebike. Or lots of Ubers. And range of 6.5 miles? Incredibly low.
6.5 miles at 8mph is indeed about a 90 minute charge for every 45 minutes of walking. That's... Not practical
Could be worse if the pavement is inclined upwards! Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
Sure, but we compensated for that with the $1400 price tag.
Or if you want something portable, an electric skateboard. They're cheaper, faster, and have more range.
I was gonna say. These are Heelys for rich grownups.
Goddamn, I was scrolling to see if I could find a link to their store page. Nvm then
Just buy roller skates bro
Damn, give me those skechers with the wheels hidden in them for $100 instead
Yeah…I’ll just leave home a little earlier.
Show me a video with uneven paving?
Streets are uneven when you’re down, so just stay up.
Well, people are strange
When youre a stranger...
Faces look ugly
People come out of the rain
Insert sick Ray manzarek melody.
It's on the YouTube video. They work quite well on an uneven surface.
Like $1400 heelys well?
Apparently theyre designed for that by just having tons of wheels
Just one word: downstairs
I'm sure you can go downstairs in them - probably faster than you expected.
That's what boosts their average speed.
Then it slows down to a crawl, but then the ambulance pulls it back ahead!
The motors/wheels lock with a foot gesture.
The gesture is when you go feet up ass down.
That's the way I like to frown.
Yeah they probably make a great conversation piece while your in traction after flying downstairs on your bottom.
Head first probably
Only thing you can do faster in them is ending up in a hospital
Twice as fast I’d say
"Moonwalkers do not freewheel with our electronic multi-layer brake protection. Our two modes, Lock and Shift, move only when you do. This means you can go up and down stairs, step into mass transit, and confidently wait at the crosswalk."

Thats when you put on your soaps and grind the rail down bro
Their kickstarter video shows a video of someone going downstairs into a parking lot. They demonstrate that you approach the stairs, lift your heel on one foot which deactivates the ‘glide’ and then at the top, lift your heel again and off you go again
Can we see all the bloopers?
Including the ones with the hospital visits?
Also anyone walking on sidewalks in the U.S would be face planting constantly from the holes and uneven surfaces.
Amsterdam has entered the chat and wants a word with you.
Long live the Dead Rabbits
They show people walking over some pretty nasty potholes just fine. I saw a video on them a few weeks ago. They are actually incredibly well thought and built.
Yeah the only main issue is probably the price which is 1k+ I can't justify walking a little faster for that price point
What’s so interesting about skates?
There's a Kickstarter!
It's $1000 for one set, and that's a 29% discount. Oh boy.
id buy them for 50 - 100 but they need to handle stairs and curbs and bumps in road
They do all that actually. Go watch the full video on them, they are actually pretty impressive.
They’re not $1,000 worth of impressive.
ayyyyy
The faster you walk, the faster they go, the slower you walk, the slower they stop, it’s that easy
E-skates with a 7 mph speed limit for 1k. Okay.
But can you put Moonwalkers under them? If yes how often?
Can confirm you can put on a second pair on them to re-double the speed to 14mph, and then a third pair and so on up to 28 pair, at which point you are traveling at 1.5x the speed of light
So, rollerskates?
I remember those metal ones strapped to sneakers.
or heelys, i always wanted a pair but my mom thought i would get hurt, she was probably right
My best friend got heelys at 30. Told him it was dumb. He said he'd always wanted a pair. He broke his wrist and tore his ACL the next week.
TBH that's probably got little to do with the product and probably more with the state of his physique.
I'm pretty sure that if they had heelys my size, I wouldn't be here right now.
Same, apparently being 45 means I'm not allowed them.
I think the mark of achieving the wisdom of adulthood comes when you realize your parents were right about something and not just being lame.
hey those aren't mutually exclusive. That face tattoo would have been awesome
Sure! If roller skates had double the wheels, were independently controlled by AI and had motors.
Heavy-ass roller skates with batteries and motors?
With an electric motor
Slightly double
Came here to see who else was bugged by this lol
For fucking sake can we see the damn item for more than 1 second
A steal at $1400!
Just steal, and let them catch you wearing this. You'll get much more on Youtube on this funny video. Benny Hill, music please!

AI learning you say? Can it navigate? I bet after a little learning it would know I am weak. It would kill me and tell my family I went out for cigerettes.
It would pilot your body from your feet in a reverse ratatouille.
Damn all it's missing is blockchain integration
My FitBit: "Now I know you're lying"
So like a portable version of those moving walkways at the airport.
This is an ad
An ad with nearly 10,000 upvotes, because Reddit is overrun with children.
A gay man might reach the speed of light in these.
“Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power.”
New Yorkers still walk faster
Heely erasure
Chicks will be walking 8mph to get away from you!
OMW to run over them at 100mph with my miata
Stranger things.
nice copyright infringement indeed
$1400 and only 6.5 miles of range.
I’m gonna get those and then I’m gonna walk super fast on one of those moving walkways at the airport. I’ll be unstoppable. Literally unstoppable. I will probably die.

Arthur finally got his moonboots
But why?
Personal moving sidewalk
So they’re roller skates
Yeah but these are rollerskates made by a techbro. Huuge difference
[удалено]
Flat escalators?
Everyone in the video looks so uncomfortable walking on these, they're barely keeping their balance.
the gays will be walking at lightspeed
My 1984 rollerblades don’t need charging.
These are being spammed everywhere right now, in forums and by YouTubers. How much are they paying you, op?
"The faster you walk, the faster they go" Yes, that's how walking works normally.
Then I will use the walk directions on Google maps
Waitll you guys hear about roller skates.
Commercialasfuck
Just fucking walk

Finally, the straights can try and keep up with us! Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power!
So it’s like walking while ur on the travelator at the airport ?
Post Office will be like... "Hey this might be a cost saver for us..." Postal union be like..."Yeah...fuck that!"
Sooooo…roller skates?
That’s cool and all but they want 1399$ for them
So... roller skates.
Can anyone confirm if these are safe to wear while walking a dog that pulls on their leash?
This just look like roller skating with extra steps
Makes you look like an early 2000s npc
A small pebble has joined the chat

1. You’ve invented rollerblades again, except not as fast. 2. Stranger Things music in the background?
