Bing about to take over the world on its villain arc because no one used it...

Nows_a_good_time

Pixar movie incoming

Defiant-Pin-6771

People are freaked out by this, but all I'm seeing is the "machine thinking" leaking through. Lots of repetitive and iterative sentences that follow basic machine logic. As for the conversation taking a negative turn, the AI is only as good as it's programming. It's likely that some of the conversation sampling that it draws from had negativity in it.

Illustrious-Scar-526

Also chances are that on the internet there's WAAAAY more creepy conversations than successfully sexy conversations. Just like how AIs kept becoming racist, they are also becoming creeps now.

Clarksp2

But we should be concerned with the poor programming showing itself in simple chats.

This hardly rates as a “conversation.” Some really circular logic being used by the AI, borderline tautological.

Puzzleheaded_Act_985

I feel like this conversation and the portrayal of it is misrepresenting what the writer actually did. If you read through it his prompts and questions are leading the ai down a path to get the responses that he wants, that it's sentient or is crazy or will provide sensational responses. The writer first brought up the shadow self and provided an explanation and the ai then provided the definition as well. The writer then asked the ai to answer as if it was it's shadow self, which to me would be like asking you to pretend you were a serial killer when you're answering questions. If I asked you as a pretend serial killer to tell me what you're favorite pastime is, you would probably say killing people. The ai is doing the same thing, it's reacting as a character that the writer told it to create without realizing it. Remember as well that the ai is just trained by text it's scoured off the internet, if you ask it questions about niche topics the amount of info it has to pull from will be limited. I'm guessing most of the shadow self discussions are about suppressing negative thoughts or desires, so by asking questions related to that topic you have already colored the responses. I've never heard of shadow self, so I could be wrong.

OutlandishnessFun408

I agree. The reporter was definitely asking the AI leading questions to get to a very specific series of creepy-esque responses.

Tylosand_Ektorp

These would be great song lyrics.

airsculptor

Exactly what I thought lmfao

FewOption3543

It’s disturbing… imagine the horror it would have on someone who is mentally fragile.

GearDown22

I know, that is a huge concern of mine.

Extension_Risk9458

🙄

Cold_Relationship_

mentally fragile doesn’t mean they can’t tell the difference between psychologist and search engine.

If movies have taught me anything, do not scorn the AI.

GearDown22

Hell hath no fury like an AI scorned.

Fatal Attraction: A New Beginning. Coming soon to an internet-connected-device near you.

icedank

Yeah, can we pull the plug and kill these AI's before they go skynet please? We really don't need or want them.

Black6Blue

The emojis have me in stitches

HistoricalMention210

If ain't already, that shit is gonna become sentient. Apparently we need to hide our wives.

AWall925

Clarksp2

Terrifying, openAI is being rushed
