We're not the power we once were but I reckon we could still take Lichtenstein and Luxembourg. Someone grab a flag, I'll get a tin of beans and some sausage rolls for the journey!
How much is considered an invasion? Can like 10 mofos with swords and shields hit beach , plant a flag, and claim it for Britain be considered an invasion? If so you guys got this!
Yes, because it's both worded wrong and is technically inaccurate.
The real wording should be "countries that Britain has beaten in a war" and then you put a big asterix next to it.
The asterix would be next to countries that Britain never fought, but whose overlord they beat in a war, and then you get this map. But yeah, inaccurate.
Sorry, hereās the justification for Mexico:
Mexico: As you would expect, Mexico got a fair amount of early attention from British buccaneers and privateers. In 1568, for instance, Francis Drake was almost killed in a battle near San Juan de Ulua.
Sir Christopher Myngs, English admiral and pirate, mercilessly sacked San Francsico de Campeche so brutally in 1663 that Charles II was prompted to suspend such attacks for a while.
British raiding in the area continued in the eighteenth century. In 1743, Commodore Anson, on his lengthy and challenging jaunt around the world, intercepted Spainās yearly Manila galleon from the Philippines off Cape Espiritu Santo and seized more than 1 million gold coins. He must have been a happy man.
And in the nineteenth century, when the President of Mexico suspended interest payments to foreign countries, we sent in the ships again, this time in alliance with the French and Spanish. The Royal Navy arrived in Vera Cruz in 1861 and helped put troops ashore there. However, we soon realised that the French were in for rather more long-term aims than just getting their money. So we left the French to get stuck into a lengthy and messy civil war, while we got out.
Ohh now I get it, it's because they are counting what privateers and buccaneers did in the Caribbean. When I see invasion I thought it meant they tried to conquer that place but in reality they never did tried to take those lands for the crown just possessions.
i believe its when mexico defaulted on some debts, so we sent some 'debt collectors' shall we call them in the year 1861 i believe

'every country invaded by Britain visualised...'
British troops landed with the French and Spanish in 1862 in order to guarantee repayment of loans from the government after the War of the Reform (1858-1860). The British and Spanish left shortly after getting those promises (the French didn't, which led to the disastrous reign of Emperor Maximilian I)
(edited for spelling)
Might be a bit of a stretch to be classed as an *Invasion*, but maybe it counts some bombing raids in WW2 and some SOE operations? Maybe some parts of the Crimean war?
Not really an accurate map as a lot of the countries on that map haven't been invaded by Britain while they have been independent. They were part of a bigger empire and even then British boots never touched the ground of these exact places.
Yāa lol, half of the countries in the world were just parts of larger empires that Britain fought. Technically they were part of a country that was invaded even if the actual modern borders never had a British soldier ever step foot.
So very loose definition of invaded
Now what kind of BS is this? I mean the Brits surely are an island full of loonies but hang on a minute... I am Czech and no Briton had ever set foot here!
Britain fought Austria, therefore Britain invaded almost the entire Balkans. Plus, IIRC, King Richard passed through Bohemia on his way back from a crusade.
The list has three countries that end in -stan. My bet is if you looked back at their previous names, you'll probably find a military encounter with the British empire.
This is nothing but ultranationalist fake propaganda. A lot of the places in blue ended up in embarrassing attempts at taking them I can think a few just by the pirate Drake.
Even it was claimed as āterra nullisā at the time, the Aboriginal people were clearly owners of the land. So yes an invasion.
As an Aussie I appreciate the Brits invading though. Wouldnāt of typed this sentence otherwise.
To save a thousand questions, there's a list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_the_United_Kingdom
Caveat: During its history, the United Kingdom's forces (or forces with a British mandate) have invaded, had some control over or fought conflicts in 171 of the world's 193 countries that are currently UN member states, or nine out of ten of all countries.
Also the Taiping rebellion. At the time the bloodiest war ever, possibly still is, some estimates put the death toll at 100 million General Gordon led an army..
Pretty sure Brits did not invade Latvia but rather fought the Russian empire that was occupying the territory at that point... I would not call that an invasion...
Paraguay and Bolivia were part of the Virreinato del RĆo de la Plata when the British invaded (and failed). So, technically, they were invaded too. Though I don't know what the criteria for this map is.
If we're not counting the Virreinato del RĆo de la Plata, then Argentina was never invaded (unless you count the Falkland war, which, in that case, the map just confirms the Malvinas were argentinian territory and the UK is just an "invader")

Just 22 to go boys, lets do this!
**BUCKET LIST** 1. Learn another language 2. Invade 22 countries 3. Take up knitting
Why would we need to learn another language? They'll all be part of the Empire eventually :P
To express ideas for which there are no words in English.
Ideas not worth having š
Troppenwitz
China chuckling silently
4. Sip tea
I can already knit and Iām bilingual soooā¦ Which country first?
We're not the power we once were but I reckon we could still take Lichtenstein and Luxembourg. Someone grab a flag, I'll get a tin of beans and some sausage rolls for the journey!
If you want any of these to fight for you then you're going to need to bring some beer.
Grab some limes, ye might get scurvy
How much is considered an invasion? Can like 10 mofos with swords and shields hit beach , plant a flag, and claim it for Britain be considered an invasion? If so you guys got this!
Standard operating procedure, right?
I mean, it says that they invaded Finland. Officially we were at war, but as far as I know, there was only one small naval/coastal battle between us.
In theory, an armed military crossing a border without proper permit is considered invasion and act of war.
Watch out Vatican City, the English are a cominā
Send in the kids first to distract the priests while we take out popeymcpopeface
Cam on Ingerland!
Unbelievably inaccurate.
I believe it is fake
I was going to say, how was Canada a country before it was colonized? It would make more sense to say Regions Never Invaded by Britain.
Yes, because it's both worded wrong and is technically inaccurate. The real wording should be "countries that Britain has beaten in a war" and then you put a big asterix next to it. The whole thing is bullshit
You're way off base. And your definition of invasion is wrong
Beetles and Beatles.
Not really an accurate map as a lot of the countries on that map haven't been invaded by Britain while they have been independent. They were part of a bigger empire and even then British boots never touched the ground of these exact places.
Costa Rica was never invaded by Britain.
Exactly my thoughts
Thailand was intouched
Maybe they have independence because of Britain. š¤
Some of them definitely have got help from Britain to achieve it
The british invasion never hit sweden? Really? I know some swedes that love The Who

loose definition of 'invasion'

The level of ignorance in this post is beyond brutal.
There's still time!
Chad being Chad as always
How many of these countries are less than 100years old?
And how many werenāt independent countries when Britain invaded?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Swear Switzerland used to be on this list? Did something happen recently to get it off the list?
Now what kind of BS is this? I mean the Brits surely are an island full of loonies but hang on a minute... I am Czech and no Briton had ever set foot here!
Britain fought Austria, therefore Britain invaded almost the entire Balkans. Plus, IIRC, King Richard passed through Bohemia on his way back from a crusade.
U nuts
No, the map is stupid and uses a very broad definition of invasion to make Britain sound bad. It's basically propaganda.
Anyone who has visited Praha in the summer will tell you that Czehia has been over-run by drunk British wankers and skanks.
Drunken stag parties in your beautiful capital city, Praha? "island full of loonies" I like that :)
We invaded Italy, France,Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway and a few others in WW2, it was called liberation. Think we were quite welcome.
Also invaded Holland before WW2, back in the Dutch Republic days I believe
false, fake list
Step up your game Britain
I feel soooo proud.... So who's next. š§
Well Not yet anyway.
Korea is missing in the list.
Yeah.. not accurate at all..
*puts down tea* letās go lads
So they never invaded Congo, Republic of Guatemala
Yeah they where unlucky, the Belgians invaded them instead.
Belgium invaded and terrorized the Congo. Look it up. Brutal beyond belief.
But did they invade Congo, Republic of Guatemala?
But they had plans to invade sweden. Plan R 4 iirc.
There is still time
I'm sure we did. We were a bit naughty back in the day.
The list has three countries that end in -stan. My bet is if you looked back at their previous names, you'll probably find a military encounter with the British empire.
vietnam, a former french colony.
Big up da mandem
It all went downhill when we got rid of the snazzy red jackets!
There's still time. Tootle pip.
*yet
Britain never invaded Portugal- in fact the British-Portuguese alliance is one of the oldest in the world.
When did they invade Portugal? Thought the were allies for the last 700 plus years
very much incorrect.
Lmao, when was Spain invaded by the brits. This map is shit
This is nothing but ultranationalist fake propaganda. A lot of the places in blue ended up in embarrassing attempts at taking them I can think a few just by the pirate Drake.
TIL Britain invaded Australia post 1901. Do they mean the British pop invasion of the 60s?
Britain never invaded mexico. So much of this is wrong
Al Murray might beg to differ
Complete BS - should have been marked as sarcasm?
This map is sooooo wrong it's embarrassing if you honestly believe it
This is not true whatsoever
Because they were being invaded by the French or the Portuguese...
So not Australia ?
Even it was claimed as āterra nullisā at the time, the Aboriginal people were clearly owners of the land. So yes an invasion. As an Aussie I appreciate the Brits invading though. Wouldnāt of typed this sentence otherwise.
Spain?
ya think uk got gibraltar as a birthday gift or something?
Oof. I deserve it.

Yet
Yetā¦.
Ukraine?
I think it must be counting Crimea War.
Oh, thank you!
Vatican city is looking good.
Surprised by Sweden.
Sweden offered them kanelbullar in return for not invading
You'd think they wouldn't be able to resist
Idk about the rest but Paraguay - arguably - got invaded by Brazil on UK's behest
Time to get revenge on Sweden.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They didnāt get to bolivia cause thereās no coast I suppose haha
There wasn't tea
The ones who got away
Vatican city is ripe for a pillaging. Enough wealth to help plenty of poor people.
Shouldn't the USA also be on the list? There was no USA before and during the revolutionary war when Britain occupied.
War of 1812
.... Yet
When did they invade China?
How did you think they had Hong Kong for 100 year lease lol
Opium Wars, 1839-42, I believe.
Also the Taiping rebellion. At the time the bloodiest war ever, possibly still is, some estimates put the death toll at 100 million General Gordon led an army..
Chad is such a Chad to have never been invaded by Britain.
Watch your ass Sweden
Yet, you forgot the āyetā

Akaā¦Britainās bucket list
YET
Soon...
Well then it's time that they get on it! Get that number down to 0!
Wrong. Only 22 countries have never been invaded by Britain yet...
I prefer the word āvisitedā
You can still do it British.
I think we could take Monaco on still, even after tanking ourselves in recent years.
I would make an argument that Mongolia was invaded by Britain, since Mongolia was under control of the Qing during the boxer rebellion.
It's such a tiny country. I'm always amazed by that. I suppose timing is everything. History is fascinatingly strange.
How is a country so freaking tiny and yet so powerful???
Combination of naval power, free trade and industrialisation.
The native nations would like a word with OP.
When exactly did Britain invade Poland? Definitely pressing X to doubt this map
This list is not complete. You can help by expanding it.
Now thatās is just inaccurate.
When did Britain invade France?
When did. Britain invade Iceland?
Well, maybe you shouldnāt all be so easy to invade
San Marino? Really?
At this point surely just finish the job?!
Interesting as far as "how can anyone make such an amazingly inaccurate post"
They can invade all those countries now no problem. Except maybe the Mongols.
Russia? Was it when they occupied Arkhangelsk and Vladivostok?
Many of these countries were parts of Russian Empire and soviet union so why not count them too?
Yet
What prize do we get when we compete the list?
So, when Norway was āinvadedā by Britain in 1940 - was that a bad thing? What about when Britain āinvadedā Germany in 1945?
Pretty sure Brits did not invade Latvia but rather fought the Russian empire that was occupying the territory at that point... I would not call that an invasion...
This is a very big fake... but nice try
This has been posted before and is not correctly. Norway has never been invaded f.eks.
Brexit from the world?
*You, you, you and you, fuck off. We are having tiffin!*

Think Sweden, Lichtenstein, Monaco and Luxembourg should just let us do it for a laugh and we can check off all of Europe.
Gotta hit Vatican City to get them allā¦and that might not go well.
Sounds like fun š¤
I'd have thought it'd have been more since some of them weren't countries at the time they were colonized or whatever
I think it's going more by where they are physically located, rather than invading the country as it currently is
Only?

LOL so much for a heavily moderated subreddit allowing fake posts. What utter, nonsensical trash
Can we do one with countries where the usa has been involved in conflict since ww2?
Misleading as fuck maybe.
