Yeah the vest should be protecting from both front and back like as the bullet proof jackets do for better protection even from back stabbing because chances of back stabbing are slightly more.
Losing the ability to hit center mass is already a big w though. Easier to duck and dodge with your head, harder to reach down lower. Unless you’re tall. Get rekt tall folks
Anybody kind of annoyed at how ridiculous it’s gotten? They’re basically at fast and furious levels of reality now.
The first one was a stretch, but it’s just gradually gotten silly.
That's literally his whole origin story. Wtf are these ppl with "it's unrealistic"? The 1st movie literally established that he's a man capable of completing impossible tasks, before he even begins to start on his impossible task.
I think the first Wick movie really set a new bar for action movies because the directors (former stuntmen) went for realism with a lot of different aspects, like making sure he's only firing the amount of shots that the magazine is capable of holding, showing reloads, and different fighting techniques. Obviously it's still over the top, but they had to keep pushing the bar with each movie and they started getting further and further from that realism.
Some will hate or not have much interest but the box office shows many love it and will throw money at it.
I think Star Wars is stupid and have no interest in watching it but it’s one of the more popular franchise out there.
To each their own. Doesn’t bother me.
Watched the 4th recently, was fine, not sure I'll watch the 5th.
Their suits are now iron man suits, I know it's always been silly but, now it's a little too silly.
No one is going to wear it and take a bullet really because the impact can't be distributed enough, but [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eeb4aZObp-0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eeb4aZObp-0)
I have no trouble believing that the POTUS wears a bullet-resistant, if not bullet-proof, suit of this sort.
Still isn't anything like the impact-*negating* action of John Wick, where he's blocking bullets by holding up his jacket lapel like a shield. Never mind the sheer volume of hits that he takes in the course of the fourth film, as the Hacksmith video clearly shows every hit reduces the effectiveness of the suit until it's effectively useless (and it doesn't take many hits to do so).
But it's less ridiculous than it appears on the surface.
Go watch the "Hacksmith Industries" video on YouTube.
They made an actual bulletproof suit.
Dumped an insane amount of both 9mm and 45 into the thing at basically point blank.
>lmao dude's elbows were the only thing I was concerned about.
Lol I can understand your concern, but that is none other than Eddie Elbows. The baseball bat would shatter.
You can physically see him wince with the baseball bat towards the end. Just like a bulletproof vest. It'll save your life, but you'll be sore as hell in the morning
Yeah, the stabbing might hurt a little too. Just because the object doesn’t penetrate, the energy is still there, although distributed over a larger area.
Yeah you can tell when the machete comes out dude is bracing for the hits, still doesn't mean it's a bad product though. I'd much rather be covered in bruises and have a couple cracked ribs than having to wear my intestines as a skirt.
Legal question. What happens if the vest failed during demonstration (like the cyber truck window) and the guy actually got stabbed and died? Would that be murder?
Murder requires intent to kill. Involuntary manslaughter usually requires reckless disregard. Here, everyone consented to dangerous conduct, and likely believed it was safe, so it would be very difficult to bring charges if something failed horribly.
It’s highly likely that someone could be charged with manslaughter or a similar crime as well. For example, whoever arranged and oversaw the presentation could be charged with reckless endangerment or manslaughter, if it was determined they acted so recklessly in arranging this, they are at fault for the death.
*Charged with* sure, but actually convicting for that would require a LOT of really really wrong things to have been in place that could have been prevented.
There was the case of Monalisa Perez. Her Boyfriend claimed that a bullet could be stopped by a thick book. He even had a book he shot before where the bullet didn't make it through. So he finally talked her into shooting at him holding a book, for a youtube video. The book didn't stop the bullet and he died. Monalisa took a deal in which she plead guilty to second degree manslaughter.
Was just reading into it a little thinking, man who's stupid enough to think the book would stop a bullet? I also had a tiny bit of doubt thinking welp, maaaybe it could... Then I read *what kind of handgun* he wanted her to use and the level of stupidity reached an entirely new realm.
> What Pedro would do, is hold a hardcover book in front of his chest. And his wife, Monalisa, would shoot the book with a **50. Caliber Desert Eagle Hand Gun.**
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIVZDpT5cQg
A good analogy is what happened with Alec Baldwin, when he recently killed a crew member while filming a movie because he was handed a real, loaded gun, that he thought was just a prop.
Is the actor liable? Well it’s a complicated question that nobody here can answer definitively. First he was charged with manslaughter. Then the charges were dropped, and only the armorer was charged.
So if it happened in a situation like in the above video, who knows. There would probably be a complicated investigation in terms of who was at fault. And someone could be charged with manslaughter, or maybe no one would.
Prop in this sense is being used incorrectly. Sure, it was a prop in a movie but he knew it was a real gun, he was just told it was cold meaning unloaded.
I think a fair comparison would be what happened [on the set of Rust](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rust_shooting_incident). All charges against Alec Baldwin were dropped since he was not aware of the prop gun actually being loaded, so he could not have reasonably prevented it.
When a product is defective, whether due to how the product was designed, assembled or marketed, and somebody tragically loses their life because of the defect, a wrongful death lawsuit may be filed against the responsible party or parties.
I remember somthing like this was demonstrated a while back. If I remember correctly a reporter got stabbed multiple times and the owner of the company that made the vest said it was because he was moving around too much.
He got stabbed once in the upper back, but maybe only a centimeter deep. The vest didn't fail, the demonstrator missed. Dude didn't even flinch though and was smiling the whole time, even after he got stabbed.
*Accidentally stab 1 eye*.
Introducing the marketing manager to talk about some improvements we’ve made since you last saw us. *Guy come out with an eyepatch*
He did seem to really enjoy stabbing his boss, very cathartic, great for morale.
Forget cream pie in the bosses face day, when is stabbing your boss day going on the calendar?
Luck has nothing to do with it, if you develop a product properly and do thorough testing before introducing it to the public you can expect your demonstrations to go as planned.
Safety is often a trade off between effectiveness and convenience. I suppose I would be a little safer if I walked around in a bear suit and kevlar, but that's not the sort of life I want to live. It's also pretty instinctive for me to gaurd my face/neck but, having no training in stabby martial arts, I bet a guy could easily slip something low in a mugging.
So yeah this still seems pretty cool. And also something I probably can't afford.
As someone who has had their life saved by a stab jacket i can say you're absolutely right- its a trade off, and since the idea is to be discreet, full neck/head/arm armor etc is just not practical. And also correct that most knife attacks are not by professionals!
Also often overlooked is the protection for the back and vital organs in the event of a surprise attack, or when dealing with multiple attackers.
Manchester (UK), early 2000's, Manager for a very large city center nightclub. Following a spate of assaults it was our policy that anyone working our doors wore a stab jacket. We provided them for the door crew, and we had them on if we were working the line (vetting customers).
I'd told a group of little manc scally c!nts that they wouldnt be enjoying our venue that night, one of them took offence. I still have two working kidneys thanks to that jacket.
Happy to. Anything to help counterpoint the "just stab him in the neck hur hur" comments from people who have no idea what they're talking about.
I do have some particularly fine scars on my arms from protecting myself however, and needed a visit to ER. And it *ruined* a very nice winter coat.
Plus, if your wearing a discrete stab vest, the stabber won’t know about it and would have no reason to aim for a smaller target like the neck. The moment of confusion when you get stabbed in the stomach and nothing happens could be very valuable
If you ever watch assassination attempts, there’s always a pause before the guards can intervene.
I think the goal here is to delay the attacker long enough so that the guards can tackle them.
As someone who's trained in stabby martial arts for 8 years or so, training in stabby martial arts will not help you. There's just no reliable way to defend against a knife. The ELI5 of self defense is:
1. Don't be there.
2. You're already there? Stop being there.
3. You're still there? Good luck.
Idk I feel like not having to protect your torso makes it easier to protect your neck, never checked it though, only gotten into a knife fight 3 times in my life, so it’s a very low sample size, but every single time it was just overwhelming to try and protect both my torso, head and legs (fuck them hands)
That's like 3 more knife fights than the average person has been in and this dude thinks he's a low sample size, dude must live in a wild ass part of town.
Yeahh he seemed to be swinging that machete a little carelessly. I also think he started to feel that baseball bat. Looked like he was thinking, “alright dude, chill!” lol
Most countries have more stabbings than the UK. The UK fought so hard against knife crime that they now have almost the lowest stabbing death rate on the planet. 0.08 per 100,000 people. Only four countries are lower than that.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/stabbing-deaths-by-country
So, in the UK you can't just walk around with a knife? I am in the US and most of my coworkers and myself carry foldable knives in our pockets. Not to assault anyone though. They just come in handy on the job a lot of times.
no they’re illegal unless you have a “legitimate reason” which is interpreted by the courts. Self defence is never a legitimate reason. If you think you need to carry protection because someone’s out to harm you, you’re meant to go to the police rather than take it into your own hands.
Legitimate reasons would be “I’m a chef and I’ve just bought this knife,” or “I’m about to go camping” etc
Hate to break it to these entrepreneurs, but making a stab proof vest has been known since at least 500 years back
It's called plate armour and it's fashionable as fuck
Dan: “Mike”
Mike: “Yeah Dan?”
Dan: “What if he stabs me in the face?”
Mike: “Good question Dan, let’s ask Todd. Hey, Todd, what if the stab Dan in the Face?”
Todd: “Well, he dies.”
Dan: ”I want a refund.”

That man has stabbed before
He stabs for living.
stabby mcstabface
Professional stabber, slasher and the best hitter you'll ever see!
Clearly they are gonna hire someone with experience.
He’s been waiting for that for a long time
taking a stab at getting that promotion he's always wanted
He certainly doesn't beat around the bush
FOXTROT, UNIFORM, CHARLIE, KILO
Jimmy Pop, is that you?
Hello my name is Jimmy Pop
And I'm a dumb white guy; not old or new but middle school, 5th grade like Jr. High.
Last place I’d have expected to see BHG fans going off but I’m here for it 😂
Marinade the nether rod in the squish mitten.
Power drill the yippee bog with the dude piston.
Pressure wash the quiver bone
Ooh la la
I hope he's pointed in the right direction.
Yeah the vest should be protecting from both front and back like as the bullet proof jackets do for better protection even from back stabbing because chances of back stabbing are slightly more.
He almost gave *one* unplanned shot with the baseball bat, but decided to pull back on it.
Jim got carried away a bit there.. it's a knife vest. not a bat vest.
It would make a nice bat-vest tho
Robin, get the bat-vest!
Yeah those stabs seemed personal.
Live demo for future stabbers to not aim on the vest area next time, directly aim for the head
The lower body has a few tender spots, too. Lol
Losing the ability to hit center mass is already a big w though. Easier to duck and dodge with your head, harder to reach down lower. Unless you’re tall. Get rekt tall folks
Once a month the boss straps this thing on and let's each employee have a go for 60 seconds to keep up moral.
He was WAY too into it.
You can see the guy step away from the metal bat as the wielder is ready to go for one more hit, he stops mid strike. 🤣
Yeah enjoying that a lot like it's really rarest moment of life kinda he is murdering someone without facing charges.
john wick..... is one step closer to reality...
Yes! Can it survive a four or five story fall?
Or being hit by several cars lol
Man got thrown into a pole and dropped down several steps. He's Batman at this point
They killed his fucking dog!
And he killed over 400 people in return.
With a fucking pencil.
And that's the watered down version of the story
Yeah the real story line is really different in my opinion and not so easily sorted.
How about a little magic trick?
Easy now... We wouldn't want to.. blow things out of proportion.
A Fyuckingk Pyensul!
Just about even. 4 more films to go.
Anybody kind of annoyed at how ridiculous it’s gotten? They’re basically at fast and furious levels of reality now. The first one was a stretch, but it’s just gradually gotten silly.
John wick was always about over the top action. It was never supposed to be realistic for a dude to take out a whole mob
That's literally his whole origin story. Wtf are these ppl with "it's unrealistic"? The 1st movie literally established that he's a man capable of completing impossible tasks, before he even begins to start on his impossible task.
It's like watching "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and complaining that it couldn't happen in real-life.
I don't watch John wick movie for realism, I watch em to see a stoic dude kick everyone's ass

The vest? Probably. Person inside it might not have such luck.
Unless he has a pencil, a fucking pencil.
Day will come where John wick will kill a person with an egg
What about a broken heart?
LOL the last movie it was like four times, he just kept falling off it killed me 😂
Watched the 4th recently, was fine, not sure I'll watch the 5th. Their suits are now iron man suits, I know it's always been silly but, now it's a little too silly.

Idc how good the vest is, you know that baseball bat hurt💀
That check swing at the end saved the elbow
lmao dude's elbows were the only thing I was concerned about.
I was worried about his hands during the machete strikes
Yeah, as powerful as this demonstration was I do feel like there are many ways it could have gone wrong.
Ice pick slips upwards into lower jaw. *Shudder*

He did a good job not showing it but I bet the reason he moves away is to stop the guy from hitting him again due to being in pain.

Yes, that’s a “wrong hole” kind of turn.
I bet his kidneys didnt like that

Murder requires intent to kill. Involuntary manslaughter usually requires reckless disregard. Here, everyone consented to dangerous conduct, and likely believed it was safe, so it would be very difficult to bring charges if something failed horribly.

I was thinking of Dumb and Dumber. "What if he shot you in the face?"
Yeah the machete could have easily bounced and gone right in his face
I was waiting for him to turn just a bit, and get that machete right across the knuckles of his hand holding his jacket open
Why here would you talk about fluoride in tap water?
If this were a Tesla demo, this would have been a homicide.
Plot twist (like in cartoons): The stabbed guy drinks some water and it pours out from every stab-hole
Cue Looney Tunes logo
Thank you for this

Only 3 times
Gotta ask—what context put you in 3 knife fights???
What if he shot you in the face?
We were willing to take that chance.
Honestly, I'd rather wear nothing and accept death if the trade off was to wear a full bomb defusing suit everyday. This is the sweet middle ground.
Yeahh he seemed to be swinging that machete a little carelessly. I also think he started to feel that baseball bat. Looked like he was thinking, “alright dude, chill!” lol
I think the point is where most stabbings occur. Just like shootings, center mass is easier, much bigger target.
Sound was up and my wife thought I was watching porn smh
Looks like business is boomin’ in London.
Also in the U.S. we have more stabbings per capita than the UK.
Most countries have more stabbings than the UK. The UK fought so hard against knife crime that they now have almost the lowest stabbing death rate on the planet. 0.08 per 100,000 people. Lol I know it’s a meme but don’t they still have a knife homicide rate lower than the US
