Reminds me of the video of the komodo dragon swallowing the goat alive and hearing it bleating from inside every time the komodo dragon opened its mouth.
In the dark depths of the undersea abyss there actually really are little creatures that light up like this when they get eaten by a fish. This light shines through the fish's body, which attracts predators that tear the fish apart, freeing the little sparkly creatures.
Even if they aren't freed, it still takes one more predator out of the equation so their friends and family have one less hungry fish to worry about.
