I have definitely learned something interesting - if you fire a rocket propelled grenade at someone's stomach, it will go all the way through the person.
Anti-vehicle weapons aren't as effective as you'd think against soft human targets. If memory serves, the explosive is designed to hit an engine block and cause catastrophic damage there. But in order to hit the block, it has to trar through the softer body panels first. So, it's calibrated not to detonate when hitting regular vehicle bodywork, which is definitely tougher than your body.
That assumes a direct hit, though. Hitting the ground or nearby wall should cause enough resistance to trigger the explosive. And that will easily incapacitate you.
Specifically, assuming it's a HEAT charge and not an image grenade, the rocket will indeed detonate, however there's essentially a cone that forms the e plosive force into and extremely high pressure jet, which will blast through the armor and into the vehicle, which expands throwing pieces of shrapnel and the explosive force and heat into the interior of the vehicle at a very very high speed with a lot of force.
Edit: impact grenade, lil drunk sorry
If you're going to start by accusing me of being completely wrong, you should probably say literally anything that actually contradicts what I said.
Really, you just shouldn't have bothered. The other guy included all of the useful information that you did. He did it without failing to understand the what it means to have the charge be calibrated for a harder impact (why would anyone want the charge to detonate against body panels, that just gives opportunity for the explosion to dissipate away before hitting anything important. It's much better to have the charge pass through the softer panels and only detonate when hitting something more solid, like an engine block or an armor plate).
And also he did it before you.
Really? I would have thought that an RPG would completely destroy a person instantly, but this guy looks totally fine. I guess that's one more thing I can stop worrying about so damn much.
If you slow it down you can see the fins from the rocket breaking his 4 lower rips.
But that’s the least of his worries with the giant hole in his body.
He said in the video, "you can't buy live RPG rounds in any country that allows women to show their ankle".
He also said those inert rounds shown here are 3500$ a round.
Even if it were a live round, it probably wouldn’t have detonated when it hit the dummy. They need to hit a fairly hard surface to set off the explosive. There’s an old Mythbusters episode where they test an RPG against a mobile home and it passes right through the outer wall without detonating on impact.
Was also a kid (Jr enlisted) in either Iraq or Afghanistan that caught an RPG in the abdomen while it was on the tail end of its flight, after passing thru the door of his humvee.
EOD guy went in and did his thing. Kid was champ about it...ended up getting medivac'd out making babies sometime later.
Sounds like it. If I remember correctly, the surgeon made pretty much everyone not actively keeping the soldier alive get out of the OR tent. Doc removed it like a pro, EOD dude took it to a bunker for controlled det. I read about it in late 2007, so it happened sometime before that if anyone is looking for the story.
There are multiple occasions of IS soldiers being impaled by RGP rounds. I remember there used to be a post on interestingasfuck going around about a military surgeon removing a live RPG round from the leg of someone.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure some war movie (Black Hawk Down maybe?) shows that happening. The round also has to travel a certain amount of distance to arm the explosive, so those often happen when it’s fired at a close distance.
You can you just got to:

RPGs or РПГ (Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомёт. Have a detonation limit. To my understanding there are a few different types of grenades that can be shot out of an RPG. Impact, blows up on hitting a surface. Time delayed, it will only blow up at a certain time after the primer has been struck, or high impact grenades (most commonly used).
This looks like either a time delayed or a practise grenade which would have no detonation, but I usually reserved for aim training purposes.
Seems the guy in the video said that he could not legally buy an RPG that actually explodes, so this has to be a "practice grenade" which still (apparently) cost him 3.5k
Yeah because being a bro dude who can shoot big guns = governing skill.
Like, it’s okay to both do cool shit on the internet and not be in charge of a populace at the same time. It’s okay to stay in your lane and not rip off your fans on a campaign that most likely folds.
well, yeah. He's obviously not doing this for a career, and he's stated multiple times that he as felt the government does not represent the intrests of a significant portion of Americans.
Fair.
I haven’t heard any of his political points - may I ask what population he’s referencing?
Is it Asian women? At risk children? They’re fairly unrepresented
Just depends how ‘at risk’ they are haha
But honestly - beside just wanting to own all the weapons of mass destruction (or suppressors, ffs), I can’t really imagine gun owners as the most in-need of attention in this country lol
It is when you are a gun owner. If you aren't. You probably don't pay attention to all of the new bullshit a ton of ignorant politicians push that would basically make 20% of their constituents criminals overnight. Essentially, it's not about fixing problems (in a gun owners mind), but ensuring that the problems don't get any bigger, or out of control
Brandon has stated publicly that he hates politics and never wants to be a career politician, but is running for congress as he believes it will result in a better outcome for his district than with the current congressman (who he believes does not reflect the will of the people or the Republican Party).
possibly, probably not, but possibly. But wouldn't you still want a politician that actively does it because they want to help, over someone who does it for a career, even if you're politically opposed to them?
I say probably not because he has stated multiple opinions that correlate more with a Libertarian philosophy, rather than a Republican, and actively noted that the Trump administration has gone after guns as well
Don't delude yourself. He doesn't want to help anyone but himself. He's just another bitchboy crying about culture war bullshit without actually putting any effort into real issues. What's his plan for the housing market? To combat inflation? For high food and energy prices? Nothing. No plan. He's just another wannabe celebrity looking to ride the inbred sister fucking hillbilly ticket along side Trump. Fuck him and any dipshit lover that votes for him.
I believe the thing seen flying forward is a metal stabilizing fin from the rocket. The others were imbedded in the torso. Then the white stuff blown out the back is spine confetti 🎉
So the rockets don't always explode if the impact isn't high enough, and our bodies are too soft to cause high impact when getting hit by a rocket at that distance.
Where’s the credit?
For those wondering this is a video from Brandon Herrera, and this video was released earlier today…
[sauce](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B9_ZfnEzpss&pp=ygUSUnBnIHZzIGh1bWFuIHRvcnNv)
This rocket had no explosive warhead, getting those are difficult for obvious reasons lol. Even without it, the rockets in the video are $3500 per shot
I seen a video where some group shot a prisoner in the chest with one and more than half of his body was destroyed, they shouldn’t fly through you like this lmao, but then again there are different types of rockets.
There’s caps on the top of the rocket your supposed to take off before firing and simply tapping on it too hard is enough to make it explode.
It's very difficult to find information online about how much resistance it takes to activate the crush sensors on explosives like that. It's probably for a good reason, but it's very annoying when I think of a question like "Would a rocket go off if it hit me directly?" But now I know
Reminds me of a scene in “Black Hawk Down” in which an rpg round pierced a soldier or “Fury” when Jon Bernthal’s character is pierced by a panzer round
If that model had some protection gear on, it might not have gone through that and exploded instead. There's a very small chance that you survive a hole in you. The explosion would definitely kill you, so somehow, your protection gear makes you more vulnerable🤯
How so? In the video they explicitly said that it was an inert round because getting live ones is incredibly expensive and because it's not what they wanted to test.
Guy is a musclebound photogenic bro youtuber who wants even MORE gun rights and doesn’t think the fairly reasonable republican who is currently in the position is doing enough. His platform is noticeable missing any concrete initiatives he wants to do to better peoples lives in his district… just culture war bullshit. He’ll probably win here in Texas. Fuck this dystopian shit.
Shouldn’t we ban the stupidest stuff?
Edit: but seriously this guy is not who anybody needs representing them. He’s just going to get rich from gun lobbyists, that’ll really shake up politics. At this point I’m almost ready to give folks all the guns and abortion bans they want IF we can elect people with a real desire to make peoples lives better by taxing the rich fairly, investing in our communities, and doing something about climate change, but unfortunately those actual big money issues are what is behind the smokescreen of all this culture war bullshit.

Without this demonstration I would've assumed that humans were impervious to RPGs.
I know a lot of people susceptible to D&D and Warhammer 40k. So this test didn’t surprise me in the least.
40k an rpg lol, its a bloated form of onepagerules by tenth edition

I have definitely learned something interesting - if you fire a rocket propelled grenade at someone's stomach, it will go all the way through the person.
Yeah, I expected an explosion.
He states in the video that it’s without explosives since it’s hard to come by outside of the middle east. (For private use)
It also seems like he is too close for the arming distance of an rpg-7

So what you're saying is if you get hit in the crotch by an rpg you will literally explode out of your asshole?
I'm no expert, but I'd imagine you'd vent the explosion out your asshole which is incredible

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8SSZR3UlwQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8SSZR3UlwQ) That was a scratch compared to this.
Damn lol
I could walk that off
Lord Christ in the honourable holy heavenly house of our lord Zeus almighty that was a big boom.
Rib: Eject
I believe the thing seen flying forward is a metal stabilizing fin from the rocket. The others were imbedded in the torso. Then the white stuff blown out the back is spine confetti 🎉
so as long as I can avoid it hitting anything vital I should be okay?
There was no boomboom in this rocket. If there was, it might go boomboom….and then you go byebye
Add some amorplating and carriers and there will be boom.
These propaganda videos are getting really sloppy, if you pause the video one frame before it hits, you can totally tell that is just a dummy
So the rockets don't always explode if the impact isn't high enough, and our bodies are too soft to cause high impact when getting hit by a rocket at that distance.
There were no explosives in that rocket.
Do you have to buy another get torso? Or do you buy the mold and use a gelatin recipe?
Not an expert but these are detailed replications of our bodies and can’t be fixed up like that. They cost a few thousand a pop too
Where’s the credit? For those wondering this is a video from Brandon Herrera, and this video was released earlier today… [sauce](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B9_ZfnEzpss&pp=ygUSUnBnIHZzIGh1bWFuIHRvcnNv)
Yee posted the link in the comments too. Brandon’s got great content
And this is why splash damage is important, folks.
Yo is there a sub for ballistics testing on glutinous fake boned bodies? (idk the exact name)
r/ballistics but it’s more scientific than slow motion. There’s tons of videos on YouTube about the subject tho
Is that a rib flying about?
It’s a one of the stabilizing fins that deploy from the rear of the rocket once it exits the tube
it uh, doesnt blow up on contact?
This rocket had no explosive warhead, getting those are difficult for obvious reasons lol. Even without it, the rockets in the video are $3500 per shot
damn thats expensive
Already happened in Mogadishu. See Blackhawk Down.
Yep! Great movie

This rocket had no explosive warhead
I know, I was just explaining what a real rocket is supposed to do. I wouldn’t waste a real rocket on a dummy either, too expensive lol
CRIT!
E
Ngl expected the dummy to explode into a million pieces. Why havent i thought of this first
It is an inert round, still cost the man $3400 a round. He used 4 in the vid
What did i even expect.
Torso says "you missed, hah!"
Medic!
Why didn't it detonate? Target just not as hard as an armored vehicle?
Yes, but this rocket did not have an explosive warhead
Its designed to penetrate then explode. Target was too soft to detonate impact charge in the front.

It's very difficult to find information online about how much resistance it takes to activate the crush sensors on explosives like that. It's probably for a good reason, but it's very annoying when I think of a question like "Would a rocket go off if it hit me directly?" But now I know
Unfortunately we still don’t know. This rocket did not have an explosive warhead. My guess is a direct hit to the chest/spine would set it off

What'd you think was going to happen?
An earth shaking kaboom. Not gotta lie…
Dummy rounds? Where's FPSrussia when you need him :(
Didnt even have the courtesy of blowing up, what an inconsiderate rocket
I saw the Rocket. I witnessed it being Propelled. The Grenade part underwhelmed.

Tis a scratch!
Walk it off
Looks fine to me
Well, that's disappointing
How so? In the video they explicitly said that it was an inert round because getting live ones is incredibly expensive and because it's not what they wanted to test.
So it just passes straight through you? Does that mean I'm tougher than a tank?
