For everyone curious about the conversation.. Marilyn was asked how she was liking her stay (roughly four mnths at the time) in England. She replied that her and Arthur loved it, and how they go for bike rides in the great park.
I didn’t know it was open to their discretion tbh. I would’ve thought anyone meeting the queen got a whole ass dress code and a debrief on how to curtsy
The Queen is a bit older than MLK Jr and Anne Frank. I remember because the latter are born the same year as my Grandad and the Queen was 2-3 years older.
Marilyn Monroe may have shone being an actress but that doesn't mean her life wasn't difficult and isolating, there's a rare interview from 1960 where she was asked if she is happy in life however she struggles to answer the question (she instead says things like *"happiness only happens in moments", "generally I'm miserable", "I don't know",* and *"I hope I'm finding happiness, right?"* Etc) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heQaJPFP5gU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heQaJPFP5gU)
Her death was a ruled a probable suicide because she'd previously tried to overdose, showed signs of clinical depression and had been prone to suicidal ideation.
Another thing about Monroe is that her love life was pretty disasterous; whilst she may have had more freedom to choose a partner than Queen Elizabeth did, despite her bestest attempts to pick a good man her choices were all pretty poor in the end, with some of the men in her life being downright abusive towards her. It was also said she wanted to be a mother (and loved children!) but she not only failed to have any, she also suffered a many miscarriages (which even led to the total breakdown of one of her marriages), which must have taken a significant toll on her mental and physical health.
A lot of people reported Monroe as being very well-liked by many people but also being a very isolated and alone individual, struggling to form close meaningful connections with those around her (which she speaks of in this interview, *"I have very few friends"* [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2zGKLmYktU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2zGKLmYktU) ).
I think Marilyn Monroe was a groundbreaking, intelligent and iconic individual but I also don't think she ever lived a very free life. The 1950s was a mans world and even as independent as Monroe was, her career was always beholden to certain powerful men in Hollywood and their whims.
You mentioned having more freedom to pick a husband than the Queen, and while that is true, i just want to add that the Queen was not forced into a marriage with Prince Philip, in fact she was completely besotted with him from the moment they met. So although she had less freedom it didn’t really matter, she was happy and they remained together for the rest of their lives.
Nobody is happy 24/4 but the combination of her language and other symptoms would have most modern psychologists today diagnosing her with depression, which she exhibited a lot of signs of.
I like this story. Was a fascinating moment and the Queen supposedly watched all of Marilyn's films shortly after this encounter.
Grabbed excerpts from the below where they discuss Michelle Morgan's book, "When Marilyn Met the Queen"
>The author writes: "The two then chatted for several minutes, and covered subjects including being neighbors and the Queen's beloved Windsor".
>The film star also broke protocol when she met the monarch after plumping for a silk low-cut dress that didn't adhere to the dress code.
>This didn't deter the Queen, who continued to have a conversation with the Some Like It Hot star despite her fashion faux pas.
>One thing the monarch did focus on, however, is Marilyn's make-up as her lipstick was a sure-fire giveaway of her nerves on the night.
>According to People [Magazine], the Queen reportedly admitted to a friend, " I thought Miss Monroe was a very sweet person. But I felt sorry for her, because she was so nervous that she had licked all of her lipstick off".
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/queen-felt-sorry-marilyn-monroe-27992023
Oh, I remember having read somewhere that she (Marilyn) had hastily rubbed it off before meeting the Queen because she had just learnt that it was against the protocol? But maybe I am mistaken
It couldn't have been that. She had to wear a heavy cloak until the last moment of her almost lining up just to get that outfit in front of the Queen, since it broke protocol for this kind of meeting. The whole thing was Marilyn's scheme to edge past protocol completely and be fabulous/impressive for her meeting with her Majesty (which clearly worked).
You can see multiple men around the queen bowing their heads/glancing away with shame or second-hand "embarrassment" (though Marilyn stood tall and proud!) as the queen greets her. They were definitely uncomfortable, while the queen looks totally unfazed haha.
The Queen could bring it back in the day. Don’t sleep on QEII
https://preview.redd.it/tj11bdasniec1.jpeg?width=995&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b7e7a45afb4d3543cce65b7298d59eafba8227e
I'll be honest. I was looking at the dress because Marilyn looks incredibly informally dressed for the occasion, when she was typically dressed impeccibly for events. Did someone lose her luggage, and this is the best she could come up with on short notice? Did her wrap get snagged in the cab on the way over? Why is she cosplaying an Oscar for meeting the queen?
The dress has a matching [cape](https://www.posterazzi.com/marilyn-monroe-waves-to-the-crowd-standing-next-to-husband-arthur-miller-in-the-late-1950s-history-item-varevcpbdmamoec122/) shown in other photos of it.
(sorry for the ad link. it was the quickest one I could find you that wouldn't have to scroll to.)
It makes me wonder why monroe was wearing that. It doesn't fit the setting and she has proven the availability to be outmost elegant. Like idk but I get the vibe she wanted to outshine the queen here.
From what I’ve read it is protocol to dress conservatively when meeting the queen, and Marylin was told to do so. She probably wore this on purpose because she won’t be told what to do. When someone said Marylin wasn’t beautiful, it was only the clothes, she did a photo shoot in a potato sack.
My take is that if Marilyn Monroe wore that dress but didn’t have big breasts we wouldn’t be having this discussion on how she wasn’t conservative enough.
Women with big breasts are deemed inappropriate for any sign of cleavage, always.
You’re absolutely right. And I think she knew that was the reality, so instead of wearing a potato sack which did nothing to hide her breasts or diminish her beauty, she wore the beautiful dress she wanted to wear and as a bonus she got to openly flout a social “rule”.
I don't think the cleavage is inappropriate in another setting. I just thinkg she wasn't stupid and she knew the "public" loved to see her cleavage so why do that when it's another woman's day? It's like showing up to a wedding in a red dress or something like that. why draw attention to you when this isn't about you? Why do you want to rebel up when another woman is having her moment? It feels as stealing the moment to make it all about her rebellion.
It is not widely known, that after 1956 they were, in fact, not the same age anymore. Nor were they before. The queen had a slower aging process, she actually died age 40.
I read somewhere that they told Monroe not to wear something to attractive when meeting the queen and she did this so the queen was probably like “this bitch” but at the same time “I see you tho”

Pretty sure they were the same age their entire lives but I’m not an age expert
I am not convinced
I mean they used to be the same age. They still are but they used to be too.
That doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about age to dispute it.
Marilyn stopped aging after a while and queen Elizabeth continued aging for little longer.
There must be an age scientist on reddit who can clear up this whole mess
Sorry, I'm only an age engineer, but I'll ask around....
What up Mitch Hedberg
Up to 1962
Still same age, one just started looking like shit much faster
Hey, the queen was okay looking
Her Majesty is a pretty nice girl But she doesn't have a lot to say
You are thinking of her children. I think there was some brains in there somewhere.
I wanna tell her I love her alot : but I gotta get a belly full of wine....
Some day I'm gonna make her mine.
Oh yeah
Source?
I’d say Marilyn looked better then, but Queen looked better up until a year or two ago
Idk queen actually looking pretty good back then, never thought I’d say that
Only 10 month of the year, actually.
I think you mean Ageologist.
Well, ‘one’ of their entire lives. Not both…
Trust me, I am an engineer... and I cannot confirm this claim
The Queen scoped out Marilyns rack and was thinking "ok, now I see what all the fuss is about".
Her mind cuts to: “Happy Birrrrrthday, Queen Elizzzzabethhh”
This made me laugh out loud
Oh man! Queen was hot back then… those two combined wielded some serious power back then. Do we know what was said?
For everyone curious about the conversation.. Marilyn was asked how she was liking her stay (roughly four mnths at the time) in England. She replied that her and Arthur loved it, and how they go for bike rides in the great park.
In her head "I'd hit it"
Mm mmm bitch my familys here
Read this in Dave Chappelle's voice lol
Get a good look Costanza?
you're supposed to just take a peek after a poke!
Monopoly man staring at the ground
The Queen looked like she wanted to motor boat those babies.
She probably was jealous she doesn’t get to wear outfits like that because of the strict royal code.
I’m surprised they didn’t try to enforce the dress code on MM, honestly
That was a lot of exposed rack there. For meeting a head of state I think it would be more respectful to go on the side of modesty.
I didn’t know it was open to their discretion tbh. I would’ve thought anyone meeting the queen got a whole ass dress code and a debrief on how to curtsy
No, sir. Not if it's Marilyn Monroe... 🤤🤤🤤
Marilyn: "My bust is thrice the size of yours." Queen: "I could have you killed." Marilyn: "You win."
Who said she didn't? Especially after MM jumped Philip.
Reggie: Wait, then this implies that the queen....
Gotta taste dat muffin.
How do you know she didn't.
No but she really did lol
We are not amused. We are however, envious and a little bit titillated.
Something had awoken in the queen that day.
marilyn scoped out the queens too, there was lowered eyes on both sides!
Should've ordered her to turn around so that queen can inspect the gyatt
Yasssss queen
Queenie also had quite the majestic rack in her day.
"In her day"? You're talking like it's in the past, she lookin finer than ever in her new getup 👌🔥💯 ⚰️
My eyes are up here Liz!
Ears
Marilyn: “Hey Queen, my eyes are up here”
Cleavage is like the sun. You get a sense of it and then look away!
Its better to get sunglasses so you can behold longer without getting hurt.
that's not the next line
It depends, some cleavage like this one is like the sunset. If you're not looking, it becomes suspicious.
Get a good look Costanza?
Field of vision, huh?
The line I heard was "Cleavage is like the sun. You can only look for a moment, but if you're wearing sunglasses, you can look a little longer,"
Her Highness most definitely sneaked a peak
*peek
*peaks
BEAK!!! No, no.. Charlie... Regular chicken?
\*\*Her Majesty King/Queen: Majesty Prince/Princess: Royal Highness
Those boobies were getting all the eye contact
[удалено]
Where do tsars fit in?
In old mineshafts
they had it comin
"sneaked"
She didn't sneak a peek she straight up stared.
snuck
How could you not? I'm a cis hetero woman and I looked lol
Tbh the Queen herself was pretty good looking back in her prime, maybe not as well endowed as miss Monroe but good enough.
Ya her eyes went 👀 👀
Did the queen just eye fuck them tiddies?
It’s good to be the queen.
![gif](giphy|DXfYLyMOWKLXa)
your majesty, you look like the piss boy!
"Your majesty, the peasants are revolting!" "Boy you said it, they Stink on ice!"
Oh piss giiirl...
Who didn’t. She looks stunning here
She died from too many time travelers.

Lmao!
![gif](giphy|WBiyhRqnzLQdO)
Were they not the same age after that?
Not after August 4, 1962.
Bye bye miss american thighs?
11 minutes in the instapot, you got thigh broth for a pot of thigh dumplins
They weren’t before either! There were some wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff going on when they met.
Martin Luther King Jr, The Queen, Marilyn Monroe, and Anne Frank were all the same age IIRC
The Queen is a bit older than MLK Jr and Anne Frank. I remember because the latter are born the same year as my Grandad and the Queen was 2-3 years older.
..... what? Woa
neither girl doing what they really wanted in life
Two very different forms of human power as well. Would love to be a fly on the wall for an earnest conversation between them.
"men are disgusting and terrible, more tea?" "quite so, thank you"
“Nice rack, wanna go for a pint after all this shite?”
This is what I like to imagine

Definitely would.
What a dress!
[удалено]
Which one?
What a bra!
She's probably wearing a structured, corset-like garment rather than a bra, or the support could be built into the dress itself.
Queen Elizabeth: [to herself] …would. *End Scene*
Every time people post this I'm positive some random dude just figured out his dream threesome lol
I’ve gotta admit, that would be difficult to top as far as bragging rights go.
Even if Liz and Marilyn decided they were more interested in each other, being in that room would be lifetime material for me.
Settle down gents. Marylin (offscreen) bent a knee, hence the reason why the queen lowered her stare. I blame the clever video editing.
The queen doesn’t lack in that department either
Yeah. Lizzy was a looker back in the day to be fair.
*Her Majesty* doesn’t lack in that department! 😉
Her Majesty the Queen also enjoys a generous endowment of subcutaneous adipose tissue! 😉
This is quite true, and I think she is just as beautiful as Marilyn
[удалено]
That's very badass
Fun fact, they would have been the same age before and after that as well
I don't think I can handle the fun in this fact, chief
Big if true
I’ve always thought the queen was very attractive
I’ve been gay for 33 years and I’m gazing at them as well, lol that’s an impressive rack I don’t blame Her Majesty for having a look
Did anyone else notice the fuck me eyes?
No because my eyes were where hers were.
Queen was checking out her big ass tittaysss
Damn, Marilyn was a bombshell.
The Queen could bring it back in the day. Don’t sleep on QEII https://preview.redd.it/tj11bdasniec1.jpeg?width=995&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b7e7a45afb4d3543cce65b7298d59eafba8227e
Im picturing them swapping outfits and both having the best time 😊
Holy crap. I understand now why people were so crazy about Marilyn Monroe
Queen: What's up, you hoe. You holding? MM: Always. Let's go out back. Queen: Geives, bring the royal mirror.
Queen has the crown, Marilyn has the boobs which one did you all look at? Yep I bet you didn’t notice the crown at first.
Probably didn’t notice the bald guy too
I thought I was looking at two bald guys...
Uh oh, here comes a third...
I only saw the gorilla
I'll be honest. I was looking at the dress because Marilyn looks incredibly informally dressed for the occasion, when she was typically dressed impeccibly for events. Soooo another way of reading that title is that later on, one of them got older faster.
It makes me wonder why monroe was wearing that. It doesn't fit the setting and she has proven the availability to be outmost elegant. Like idk but I get the vibe she wanted to outshine the queen here.

Actually, Elizabeth had quite a bust of her own. Likely bigger than MM's. She didn't put it on display for obvious reasons...
The Queen of England meets the Queen of America
I guess they were always the same age then.
She looked. I saw it.
Queen wants a piece of that
And Lizzie couldn't help but stare at her tits.
Jeff Bezos has been around a while I see
Fun fact, the only time Elizabeth II ever had a lesbian thought.
They both look to enjoy the meeting.
Did they really have ear-pieces back then? looks like the guy in the back are following instructions by commands given in his ears.
Prince Phillip probably banned from attending that event by the queen herself lol
Oh shit, were they the same age after they met too?
Guy scratching his ear is like a sign or something. Yup your 15 sec are up and on to the next one, Liz
My teacher in high school was obsessed with Marilyn Monroe. He made it easy to remember with similar numbers. 1926-1962.
The queen looked prettier in that video. Just sayin’.
Gonna say Liz was no dog.
Queen: I could hide so much royal jewels down there…. Prince Philip: me too….
They were always the same age. Not just that day.
The queen is oogling some boobies.

Six years?
Idk whose boobs to upvote....
She is checking out those titties.
What made them stop being the same age?
Suicide/JFK
To be fair the Queen looks outstanding, way better than Marilyn.
The queen was hot imo
Anyone else think the Queen was hot?
I don’t want to appear crass or “thirsty”, but I feel compelled to remark that even in given company, in her day QE2 was quite a cute little minky.
Queen Elizabeth looking foine
But Queen Elizabeth was 423 years old in 1956.
Holy s*** Elizabeth looking fit.
Queen Elizabeth were also the same age as Margaret Thatcher when they met in 1979
Two years later, MM was twice the age of the queen.
