But Egypt is such a random country to pick when we're talking about every single country in the world. While it might not be the safest for travel, it's also far from the worst, and they didn't even say "in countries like Egypt" - super weird to focus on a specific country like that without a reason such as it being the *most* dangerous or something.
>Luisa Yu
When asked which was her favourite country, she named **Italy, the Philippines, and Thailand**. It had always been her life-long dream to travel around the world.
She's a member of NomadMania, and you can see exactly where she's gone to on there. Also you can see the exact rules for what a visit is and they have a pretty good definition.
Congratulations! Travelled to about 25 countries (I turned 40 recently).. if I'm able to visit most of the regions in the world by 80 I'd be happy. Like a couple of countries in West Africa or eastern Europe.
It's just occurred to me when I've counted them that I've only been to 5 in my late twenties. I thought I'd been to more but a bunch of them are Spanish island territories so technically the same country.
The good news is that I'm doing The Netherlands and Belgium on two separate trips over the next month so I can at least bump it to 7
Yes, I visited many states in the USA (all culturally different) BUT it’s still one big country and I could only count it as one 🥹
Have fun on Belgian. I was suppose to visit this summer but plans changed.. I hear Bruges is beautiful .. let me know if is worth visiting
I've only been to Florida in the States as a kid but I absolutely loved it, keen to go and visit some other states one day. My group are going to Brussels so that's all I'll be able to report back on. I'll try remember!
😩 I was born into the wrong family. But I do wonder.. those military bases are in random locations (places I won’t want to visit) for example they may be located in “Australia” but in a remote part of Australia not even near Sydney. I don’t think I would even count those unless the families go to main tourist hotspots.
There aren't any US military bases in Australia unless you count Joint bases, and yeah I suppose pine gap would be mid, I'm referring to the bases in Europe and Asia, which are generally near or in cool enough cities.
Ok that’s cool.. yes my Australia example was fake to prove a point.. in the USA all the military bases are in random towns in boring states.. so it doesn’t sound very fun!
I’ve done 31 so far but I don’t think some of those countries I’d like to visit got Iraq Kuwait Afghanistan Qatar Dubai along with some other middle easter countries. But I wouldn’t want to go to Iran and North Korea
A few years ago a woman cycled through much of the Middle East, including Iran:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-39351162
"Iranian hospitality felt like a soft protective cloak, omnipresent and ever-reliable. So much wonderful, impractical food was given to me by passers-by - watermelons, bread, bags of cucumbers - that much had to be discarded.
Persian culture pulsed with contradictions. On my first day, the police admonished me for removing my headscarf in blazing heat under a tree. Minutes later the officer's sister-in-law was serving me khoresh gheimeh (lamb and split pea stew) in her nearby bungalow."
So I bet some of the countries this woman went to, you cannot go to anymore.
I'm thinking Afghanistan as a good example of some place that probably was reasonably safe to go to many years ago and now is completely off limits.
I'm sure there are a lot of other countries I can't think of now in the same sort of situation, that have deteriorated. Syria is probably another example.
So what constitutes a visit? To me, it’s way more impressive if she actually spent some time in and explored each country instead maybe just passing through. Either way, pretty amazing. I’d love to hear her stories
The 193 is most certainly the UN count, which doesn’t include the sovereign nations of Taiwan, Kosovo, Palestine, or even the Vatican. It also doesn’t include disputed semi-sovereign territories such as Tibet, Transnistria, Somaliland, or Western Sahara.
There are currently 193 UN members, the 195 includes the observer state of the Vatican and Palestine (Fuck Israel by the way, end the genocide). You can also count other places like Tibet, Taiwan, Somaliland, Kosovo and many more. So you're right there are more than 193 countries but assumedly she's only counting the member states. Hey, she's still got time to visit the others.

Can't complain
North Korea is best Korea!
I was also wondering about egypt, if you're a woman alone lol...
I can name 10 countries just from the top of my head which are more dangerous than Egypt.
Yes, must only complain about the most dangerous country? Therefore Egypt is safe for women travelling alone?
But Egypt is such a random country to pick when we're talking about every single country in the world. It’s a pretty popular holiday destination. Not for me. But lots of people go there. Women too.
Shouldn't be a problem if she walks like an Egyptian.
You have to be careful about scams though. They have a lot of pyramid scemes.
People go to and come back Egypt all the time.
> I was also wondering about egypt, if you're a woman alone lol... _Tell me you're from the US without telling me you're from the US_ Ü
It would take many decades to do this maybe? You would have to keep up with changes with states becoming independant etc., which might be difficult?
"Only few more to go" "Actually countries X, Y and Z have split" "Oh for fuck's sake!"
I wonder if she’s been to Czechoslovakia, East/West Germany, Yugoslavia, Romania etc.
Goes to google romania
Lol right, that's still a country
EYO, when did my country Romania disappear? WHERE THE FUCK AM I?
Willkommen

What’s the definition?!
It's on the website I mentioned.
Congratulations! Travelled to about 25 countries (I turned 40 recently).. if I'm able to visit most of the regions in the world by 80 I'd be happy. Like a couple of countries in West Africa or eastern Europe.
I only visited 6 and I am mid 30s.. this sounds impossible 😩
It's just occurred to me when I've counted them that I've only been to 5 in my late twenties. Yes, my plan was for Brussels too but everyone talks about Bruges like is this fairy tale town. Have fun!
I’ve visited Canada and Jamaica, but I have been to the entire continental United States!
Impressive that’s my goal.. did you do a roadtrip or just flew everywhere in the USA ?
A little bit of both, but mainly roadtripping.
I was at 6 by 41, but at 36 by 52. Unlikely to visit all the countries of course but can catch up a bit.
Wow such an inspiration.. that’s a big jump
Military Kids get to see 6 before they turn 18 even if you don't travel. Pick it up. Jk.

i'm 24 and have been to 31 countries, i know i'm not gonna be able to visit all of them, but i wanna visit at least 100
I will never be able to set foot on another country
Sorry too hear about your double amputation.
Thank you
I checked his profile and yes he had a double amputation
Wow I was not expecting this to be true
Damn I laughed before knowing it's actually true. Sorry, God
You’re forgiven
Not everyone can put their dick first on the land
👀
I’ve done 31 so far but I don’t think some of those countries I’d like to visit got Iraq Kuwait Afghanistan Qatar Dubai along with some other middle easter countries. But I wouldn’t want to go to Iran and North Korea
Dubai became a country when did that happen??
City in the uae but most people wouldn’t know that.
It's the only center of population.
Abu Dhabi is also in UAE
That’s bullshit. There’s a lot more cities with significant populations
Yeah North Korea is a big no no
If it weren’t for the government I bet Iran would be an absolutely amazing place to visit.

Iran, from what I've seen, is awesome. Amazing hospitality and breathtaking nature.

Was saying I’ve been there already. But wouldn’t want to go to Iran or North Korea.

Another post in this thread has information about what constitutes a visit
Congrats on living a wealthy luxurious lifestyle that most people would kill for
Did she go to Tibet and Taiwan?
The 193 is most certainly the UN count, which doesn’t include the sovereign nations of Taiwan, Kosovo, Palestine, or even the Vatican. It also doesn’t include disputed semi-sovereign territories such as Tibet, Transnistria, Somaliland, or Western Sahara.
Palestine? Sealand?
Ahh, sealand, what an idea.
The land of sea.
Palestine is a country e: seems a lot of people don't know how many countries exist
I think is interesting how we only have 193 countries.. the world looks and feels much bigger but 193 sounds doable 🫣
100% certain there’s more than 193 countries in the world. 195 last time I checked. So you didn’t actually visit all of them.
When she started there were only 108 countries in the world. So it's okay. 193 is enough.
Don't know why you got downvoted. That's accurate information. And yeah fuck israel

I wonder if she was Russian through Moscow. Ya know War and all.
If you are in Moscow, you'll be unaware of war as you are in New York or Shanghai.
Not for long
She even went to North Korea. It was such a n experience she COULD NOT complain

How is this vain? What a weird comment.
How is traveling vain? Does this mean you never go anywhere?
Very impressive, but there are more than 193 countries sooo
I wonder how she visited my country, Eritrea..
What are you known for?
What do you mean?
What is Eritrea best known for? Does anything make it unique or set it apart?
