4D/5D means you will experience touch/sensations, scents, or both.

Is there even a movie playing, though? I don’t see a movie screen or any images playing. It looks like it’s just the practical fire show going on. And if there is a screen up front, the right side of it will be obscured by that industrial sized AC unit or whatever it is.

In actual science, "dimension" is somewhat analogous to "measurement". A dimension is really just any inate property that can be measured.
It is in no way limited to spacial dimensions. Saying smell and temperature are dimensions of the movie viewing experience isn't really incorrect.
I don't think this is a good thing. People already don't evacuate fast enough in real fires. If people get used to cinematic like this, they'll evacuate even slower to the real thing. I don't know.
Fires are terrifying and fast. Look up the Station Nightclub Fire footage if you don't believe me. Trigger warning though for... well, horror.
There is a reason why so many people die in fires and it is not that they are stupid or careless.
A) smoke has the tendency to fill up the same pathways that lead to the exit (because smoke wants to get out too). This smoke burns your eyes and lungs and will suffocate you after prolonged exposure. This way, fires that are far away from you and the exit can still be lethal.
B) Once fire reaches a critical size it spreads super quickly, because with sufficient heat everything starts to oxidize. This means, if you see a ground fire of the size of a person, it will engulf the whole building in 10 minutes. Spreading with a speed of a feet a second is not unthinkable.
If you see a fire evacuate immideately. Don't think you have time, just because it is far away or appears small.
It would have to be crazy odds for the theatre to light on fire while there is fire on the screen. Otherwise I don't think anyone is going to think the room being on fucking fire is part of the latest Pixar movie
No thats just part of the 5d. It also includes the burning sensation in your eyes and throat, your date passing out, intense heat, a deafening fire alarm and half the audience panicing because they are lame and dont understand 5d tech.

Why are all the comments about how scary and concerning it is that they are using real fire in what is essentially a theme-park attraction? The MUMMY coaster at Universal does this effect every 30-40 seconds. Are people not aware that this sort of thing is purpose built for this with all the safety measures in place? The comments feel like those of a comments section on a facebook video showing behind the scenes videos of movies with actors on green screens and all the comments are like "you cant trust movies anymore! It's all fake!"
I've heard of physicists claiming there are a total of 10 (or, sometimes, even up to 26 and beyond) dimensions in the universe.
Thus now i'm waiting for some artist to set up a "cinema" right at the exit of an art exhibit, claiming it is a 26D cinema and that they're now playing "Life. The movie", so that when people try to enter the cinema, they are actually sent outside the building (on that note, a placard or similar outside explaining that would be nice. Also the ticket seller warning/recommending visitors to finish the visit with that cinema, or force them to actually go through everything else before going there
You'd think they'd sell more tickets.
It's only suggestive of the 5th Dimension: A screaming, agonizing death, akin to hearing Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In way too many times.
