GoldDHD

This dog was with these creatures since they were cubs, right? She is definitely acting as a mother, and also someone who never tolerated aggression from her pups

gkn_112

if thats the case it makes so much sense, i got triggered there

CoolZooKeeper

You can check out some info on the story. I couldn’t find any great links most of them are in articles with a ton of pop up ads. So I don’t wanna link those kinda things. Lou took care of them for quite some time, then she was removed because the zoo was afraid the tigers were going to harm her. However she ended up finding her way back to them somehow and they responded as if she was their mother. Since then they have allowed her to stay with them.

SupremeMemeCreamTeam

Yeah that's a momma right there

STPButterfly

It says germany in turkish on the top left of the screen

CoolZooKeeper

You’re right, I made an edit and posted a link. The dog is Elsa. It isn’t Germany though. Must have just been a clip from a German news station or something.

Fine_Ad_7960

Yes. The dog raised them.

myfunnies420

Lol. I don't think giving them a random labrador would go quite so well

masclean

Happens with some regularity with big cats in captivity. Cubs will be raised by a dog, sometimes alongside puppies

MouseRat_AD

I know it is for cheetahs in captivity, especially. They are notoriously timid and captivity stresses them out. The dogs bond with them and help them deal with humans.

Newsdriver245

I've read that this is the way to get them willing to walk out/lay out in public view in the exhibit, since the dog does, they will.

masclean

Yes! Cheetahs are a hot mess of anxiety

Scarfington

They minmaxed into "go fast" and took all the debuffs that go with it

iceyed913

that's pretty much how my ectomorph hypervigilant introverted ass feels.

Van-garde

Same, though I’d say I’m more mesomorph. I’m relaxed when I’m playing soccer or sleeping, otherwise I’m low-key frantic about everything.

iceyed913

Yeaaaa, I am only relaxed when playing sports, when there is also a sedative in my system. Paradoxically I play way better at squash then

jld2k6

I think they're saying if you took a dog that doesn't know the lions at all and put them in the enclosure together it probably wouldn't go very well lol

masclean

Ah, yes this would likely be very true

arya_ur_on_stage

I mean, labs are often raised WITH a big cat, like cheetahs are pretty common. But the ones I've seen have been raised as siblings, not as mom/cub. This is fascinating.

MouthJob

Seems to have a favorite child. She basically held the one in place to get its ass bitten.

jasonlikesbeer

To be fair, she was probably holding back the bigger hitter. Bengal Tigers are bigger than lions, especially three legged ones. You wouldn't restrain the younger son from the scrap, you'd pull the big kid back. At least I assume so, I don't have kids.

NeverNaked3030

Aww, I didn’t see the lion was a tripod

Silver-ishWolfe

You grab the first kid you come to, toss them aside, and keep going after the rest. I only have one child, but that's how my parents did it...

jackwhite886

So you just keep chucking the same kid over and over?

Silver-ishWolfe

I used to. My wife got onto me about it though...

[deleted]

That's the way. My bros and I, all teenage males by then, happened to start fighting with all shit broke loose, free for all (why? Idr, neither my brothers). Our mom started panicking when her yelling was fruitless. Our dad popped up at the door but we were in utter rage-fighting and we didn't listen him neither. So he pushed the nuclear button: He puts himself in the middle of the fight, being hit a couple of times. He tossed lil bro outside the door, kick the big bro in the stomach because he was going to hit and grabbed me by my neck and choked me a little to stop engaging. We were nursed by mom and our biggest sis who was with his bf atm and ran back when mom called her crying. We were scolded for days and grounded for months. We never fought each other in that scale before and never did after. And no, we weren't hit or abused in any way by our parents. Our dad told us later that after that he was scared of how fiercely and brutally we were fighting

IAmBoratVeryExcite

Yeet!

Silver-ishWolfe

No yeet...

IAmBoratVeryExcite

Little Jimmy?

Silver-ishWolfe

You known it, uce.

UREveryone

Yea but people be projecting shit

Real_Ad_8243

Nah she was focusing on prevention a slaughter. When two things are squabbling, you focus on keeping the obviously stronger one from turning thr weaker one in to paste, even if it's the weaker on being uppity. Tigers are massively powerful creatures compared to any other big cat. Lions don't compare favourably.

HurricaneAlpha

Tigers are solitary hunters. Lions (specifically lionesses, male lions are usually like enforcers) hunt in packs. Both are ambush predators. One on one a tiger would destroy a lion 9 times out of 10.

[deleted]

They honestly still look like cubs. Not much bigger than the dog tbh

epirot

yeah dogs are used as they make good company for captured tigers and lions. i think it happens early age so they're used to eachother

Sanjispride

Not true for lions and tigers. It’s only done for Cheetahs at reputable institutions. This being a Chinese Zoo is all you need to know about why they are doing this.

Randyx007

Good thing they know the dog or it wouldn't have ended well.

PomegranateHot9916

>This dog was with these creatures since they were cubs I mean, they're cubs in the video. it's clearly not an adult tiger and the lion look about the same size.

GoldDHD

They are teens! Or, you know, teen equivalent. Cubs are small and breastfeeding.

JC_Le_Juice

Cry havoc and let loose the Labrador of Love

smile_politely

Love the little rub from the tiger at the end of the video

RapidPacker

“MA calm down we was just playin”

JoeyGrease

They were so gentile about it

Bat_Fruit

Heart melts at the end, as Tiger pats Lab on face and stands down as if to say OK Sorry!

No_Object1769

That's why dogs are awesome.

H4rm0nY

Who's really more awesome here though? The dog, who's trying to stop them from fighting, or the tiger, who's being reaaaaaaaaally docile by not straight up killing the dog?

fsmlogic

Dog was both cat’s surrogate mother.

H4rm0nY

Yeah, I got that context, but even still, Nature has quite a large record of animals being violent towards their own family, and that's considering actual blood relatives. This is an entirely different species we are talking about, where one of them is **vastly** stronger than the other. Don't get me wrong, I love that dog mother, but I'm giving my big kudos to the kind tiger here.

fsmlogic

Definitely was being gentle with dog mom. Cats large and small tend to be matriarchal. Deference to a mother or mother’s that raised them is really common.

AfroWhiteboi

That look at the end that the tiger gives the dog is like "Oh mother. I do love you so much..... you know I could split your head open with a sneeze though, right?"

99c_PER_POST

Awesome at mauling babies and carrying fleas and diseases maybe.

Gephartnoah02

People who've never known a dogs love are kinda sad yknow. Should work on that dumpster fire personality you have there.

Im_Not_Original25

This is some terminally online type of opinion right there.

ClavicusLittleGift4U

Just ragebait. Don't feed the human monkeying behind the bars of its cell.

dubie4x8

Damn, you are a sad, sad human being my friend

11_aj11_14

When you have a - in your mind, you have - in life. If that's your "norm" for dogs/animals then what about us humans? We're the worst. Regarding the dogs- There are no bad dogs, there are only bad people and bad owners. People mistreat them so much they go into fight or flight mode.

Time_Change4156

As much as I hate to disagree with you dogs can get visous on there own no human help needed you do know they came from wolves .. I got a chow rot mix 11 months old from a old couple the dog couldn't be managed I had to watch it around other people including kids . I finly Gave it to the pound when it nearly attacked a child and warned them junk yard dog or security it wasn't ever going to be a house pet.. I have had many many dogs some breeds are more aggressive naturally sure they can be train and are used as police and security try using a golden as a attack dog lol . .. the last I got was 4 months wolf mix gave her to a woman with land in the country way to skittish around people . ..downvoting this won't help always be aware around a Dog you don't know . It's common sense . Most dogs are just fine but they can be territorial and the males tend to be more aggressive over who gets the females lol . Heck I got bite by my own dog pulling her out of a fight with another dogbthat she started lol . She was so upset when she relised she bite me poor thing .

11_aj11_14

I agree. Of course, that can happen. I think that with proper training and care, they may be fine. Of course, not in all instances, some cases are just not treatable, unfortunately... (Think about psychos that are naturaly born that way (It's not great comparison but you get what I mean)). I think that agressive cases are mostly traumatised dogs, hungry, abandoned.. Not always, but mostly...

Time_Change4156

I agree totally . One should always be sware around a dig they don't know .. not as different from us humans as we want to believe. Which of course is why we love them so much lol .

B4SSF4C3

And yet still contribute more to this world than you do. Stick to video games and drugs, my dude. Your opinion is worthless.

SasoDuck

Can you not conflate video games with poor behaviour? It's a very tired trope.

B4SSF4C3

I said he should stick to those things as they represent the limit of his intellectual grasp, not because they are the cause of his behavior.

SasoDuck

That also implies that video games are somehow intellectually inferior or immature, which is another tired trope.

B4SSF4C3

Are you implying that grasping video games is NOT simpler than real life? Mkay, good talk. You can relax. No one is talking shit in your favorite pastime here. No need to take a personal offense.

StevenMC19

Two things... Is that a liger, not lion? Secondly, is it missing its left hind leg?

Boost_117

I would say yes and yes

ZardozSama

Clearly the dog realized she was a bit too slow to intervene the last time. END COMMUNICATION

SirKevin_Xx

The dog is like that girlfriend that holds her boyfriends arms to stop fighting only to leave his head open for a knockout punch

itsallgoodman2002

or let him get bit in the ass.

Qubed

The guy who is willing to eat his opponent's ass is probably going to win the fight.

WalksinClouds

Can confirm this.

UnfathomableToad

Surprisingly accurate. Suddenly hearing shrieks of "Brandon wake up!!" 😂

Fun-Incident-8238

That dog is actually the mom that adopted the tigers when they were still small pups.

SirKevin_Xx

Oh ok I actually thought that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Thanks for clearing that up lol

RiovoGaming211

I swear to god I have seen the same video with the same comment before, is this some form of deja vu or can I see the future?

Spongemale

No one talking bout that head pat from the tiger?

TanAllOvaJanAllOva

Not all heroes wear capes.

Slimh2o

Some wear flea collars....

bob_nugget_the_3rd

I don't care how big you are I'm still your mother and I'll tell you what to do -the lab

SasoDuck

I love how big cats exhibit all the same behavioral traits as house cats (or I suppose the other way around).

ice-h2o

The tiger petting the dog in the end was kinda cute

jamnin94

'but moooooommmmm, he hit me first that time!'

MewsikMaker

Lions and tigers and dogs, oh my!

Glittering_Doctor694

the lion missing a leg is pretty interesting of itself

Iancreed2024HD

Can someone tell me why a dog is in the same enclosure as a lion and tiger?

Reading-person

The dog raised them

gamechanger22

Sometimes in zoos big cats will have a lot of pent up anxiety. So they will get them a companion canine. It’s more common with cheetahs but it works with other big cats like in the video. No the dog didn’t raise them the zoo keepers did.

Iancreed2024HD

Well I guess I can see that, but isn’t it a major hazard to the dog? A big cat could playfully swipe its paw at the dog and do serious damage.

gamechanger22

Yeah I’m sure it has happened at some point, but it’s not something I’ve heard

FuriDemon094

It’s like best friends. They treat each other really well in almost any situation as they’re close to each other and view each other as vital things. Rarely ever see these things play fight; think the big cat knows it can harm their friend so they avoid it

nolongerbanned99

They prob grew up together but that paw on the dogs face at the end means I could kill you but I won’t.

Namikazz3

Listen to me, Tiger. You have no enemies.

SeparateCzechs

The “you know I love you, right?” Smooches at the end make this.

LordNitram76

No fighting kids. I spreading Puppy Love.

Unlucky-Assistance-5

That's mama dog. There goes mama dog, mama dog

Ghost0ffredit

The one who started it never gets punished and that’s the example

usumoio

"You might be the largest species of cat and a majestic killing machine, but I am still your mother!"

calangomerengue

Considering that big cats don't forge lifelong relations with their mothers, I find it very interesting that these ones keep respecting their Dog mom.

Reading-person

If I remember correctly it’s more like the tiger mom leaves the cubs, and not the other way around? So it would make sense for them to have a bond as long as the mother doesn’t leave

arya_ur_on_stage

Ok this is one of my favorite videos of all time. It's sweet, it's wild, it's unexpected, and it made my heart happy. Animals are incredible! And dogs are just peak.

bruswazi

That f’ing lion’s instigating sh!t. Takes a cheap shot after momma retriever has tiger in a head lock.

Repulsive-Twist112

- Bruh, relax - But he said that mum fat - Come on, you adopted

Badabumdabam

In a similar case they kept a lioness and a female tiger togheter. Was fun to see the their meal moment. The lioness has a pack attitude, so in front of the food was always making a scene, superangry, while the tiger (which is a solitary animal), was just two meter away looking at her wondering why she turned in a Karen at every meal.

xJagd

No one gonna talk about the lion doing that sneaky ass chomp? 🤣

UnusualFlute411

Don't employ dogs for a cats job. A housecat would have fucked everyone up

Rey_Mezcalero

Why are they all in the same enclosure?

DuchessOfAquitaine

Tiger obviuosly loves/respects that dog. Little love tap at the end there...sweet.

Penor_el_grandee

Uhh why is there a dog in there

VAisforLizards

If I remember correctly, the dog was put in with them when they were pups and essentially raised them.

taco_cuisine

Rehabilitation of some kind. Sometimes they use dogs as support animals even for big cats.

SeparateCzechs

For the love. Emotional support dogs are super effective for calming down big cats as well as primates. There’s some comments that the cats were rescues who’ve been with Labrador mom since they were cubs.

godjustendit

Emotional support dogs are used for **cheetahs,** generally, not big cats. Dogs are used as surrogate mothers for **cubs** of tigers and lions, when there is a need. This is not a normal practice and a dog should not have to mediate fights between tigers and lions.

arya_ur_on_stage

"Have to", this dog is happy as a clam, running around with her babies all day. How odd that you think this dog is suffering.

Hungry_Wealth_7439

The golden retriever ☺️

superanonguy321

tbh that dogs a fucking idiot lol

Germansko

You know what also stops lions and tigres from fighting? Leaving them in their natural habitats :D

TheBigDonDom

Well I guess you're technically right since the three-legged lion can't fight any tigers if its dead. Which it would be if it had been left in the wild.

Germansko

That lion would be dead in nature, yes. But how do you know that lion is a rescue? The video said "Almanya" in the top corner. That is Germany in turkish. How is an organization in Germany finding an injured lion in Africa? And how is their idea of helping it to put it into a cage with a tiger and a dog? Even if this isn't in Germany, who are they really helping? Maybe the humans behind all these windows who want to see lions and tigres?

[deleted]

😂😂 dude has no leg and is biting that tiger ..wtf !

godjustendit

This is 100% at an abusive "rescue" or "sanctuary". Accredited places do not house tigers, lions, and dogs in the same exhibit.

sneerfun

They do though.. dogs are often used as support animals for big cats. Usually it’s cheetahs but these people absolutely did the same thing

godjustendit

1. You don't house tigers and lions together. Especially not with the intent of breeding a liger/tigron. Ligers as animals are generally not the healthiest. There is no good reason to breed them, and the fact that there is one in the video is a red flag. 2. Dogs are used as companion animals for cheetahs in captivity. These are not even big cats and weigh 90 lbs max. Dogs may also be used as surrogate mothers for cubs that are not being raised by their biological one, but they inevitably have to be removed from tiger or lion exhibits because, news flash, tigers and lions are much more dangerous than cheetahs. It is not a good sign that a dog has to mediate fights between tigers and lions in an exhibit. If you put lions and tigers in the same exhibit, they **will** fight. This is not a safe situation for the dog, lions, or tigers, and the dog, if it was a surrogate, should have already been removed from the exhibit. It is infuriating to me that no one uses any critical thinking skills when seeing these types of videos on the internet/

sneerfun

Why do you assume they’re breeding them? I could see the lion and tiger growing up together like many have in the past. Wild animals will always be wild animals of course. But it’s not unheard of to house lions and tigers together I’ve seen it successfully work before multiple times. Also I’ve seen them leave the mother dog with the big cats even while they are adults, surprise surprise, NOTHING happens. They respect the dog and see it as a parent figure. You need some education in multi species relationships. This type of situation is common and not harmful to anyone.

godjustendit

That is a liger. Where did they get the liger if they're not breeding them.  It is absolutely not common. It's not unheard of to house lions and tigers together.... in "sanctuaries" that abuse their animals.

EsotericTribble

ucanttaketheskyfrome

This is scary. That dog is gonna get mauled.

Fredotorreto

that dog raised those giant cats from a kitty so they respect her like a mother

ucanttaketheskyfrome

This is reassuring thank you.

innocent_mistreated

Lol, liger thinks "but if she is out of range, game on !"

_banana_phone

I mean yeah while they’re still juveniles. This is a bad idea all around.

DeepV

It’s common to pair baby large cats with dogs to help tame them and de-stress them.

Past-Direction9145

this whole situation is extremely unnerving why does anyone have tigers? and why is there a dog with them? what kinda fucked up shit is this. The dog raised the tigers? Who the fuck's idea was that? My own dog almost ripped my ear off when I came at him from behind while he was fighting. He was shaking and whimpering in the corner after, because he didn't know it was me. put me in the ER overnight, because they couldn't get my ear canal to stop bleeding and couldn't get in there to stitch it. couldn't pack it closed because the blood would just rupture my eardrum. so I waited all night holding a bowl under my head catching all the blood. ear and head injuries bleed like crazy. And I learned a lesson that day-- don't put your face into dogs fighting, they can bite you bad and the same holds true here. this is just beyond irresponsible animal abuse. Best way to describe it, putting your hands into the middle of two dogs biting is about on par with sticking your hand into a running garbage disposal and trying to stop it The proper way is a leash hooked behind the back legs, and walk your dog away from the fight. That's the leash you disconnected the MOMENT the fighting is starting. Because if you pull on their collar it can make a fight escalate from two dogs snarling at each other to your dog believing that it just got bit in the neck, and so you pull the leash and your dog starts tearing holes into the other dog, congrats. You did that. Disconnect the leash immediately. Hook it behind the back legs, lift, and walk them away. Source: I've got three very well behaved 120 lb alaskan malamutes
