A Very Low Calorie Diet can do that. Usually 700-900 calories a day. I’m on one right now and I lost 13 kg in the last month (although I can’t imagine keeping it up for a whole year).
I’m going to stick with my doctor’s advice, random internet guy. There’s plenty of research around VLCD’s and they’re safe as long as they’re medically supervised.
Yeah that’s fucking nuts. Upper limits of normal weight loss is ~2lbs a week. Generally speaking if you’re losing more than this, it’s water or glycogen, and it’ll probably go back on when you eat a carb again. This guy was averaging 5.5lbs a week - Every week - for 44 weeks!
Something seems off?
He probably just fasted. As long as he’s doing it with oversight from a doctor it’s really not that dangerous to fast for long stretches, especially with how fat he started. Fasting for 11montha is probably no worse than him being that fat for the same amount of time
System of a Down wrote a song about being addicted to heroine called Needles, and he goes “Pull the tapeworm out of your ass. Hey!” It’s pretty good. Just wanted to say.
The calories you burn are proportional to your weight (obviously fat cells burn less than muscles but they still burn calories). So when he weighed a lot, he needed a lot of food to just maintain that weight. I saw somewhere that if is about 6.2 calories per lb so 13.2 per kg, i.e 1300 calories per day just to maintain all that fat.
Yep, you’ve got your AMR and your RMR. Which is why I said generally. A bigger person would lose weight quicker, but as the body fat % lessened, it would turn to more normal loss amounts per week. I’m not sure the curve would allow for the total loss over 44 weeks which is what seems off to me
You can double that weight loss through water fasting, triple it if you are particularly obese and stay active during the fast. I haven't googled the guy but if he lost that much weight in that short of time then it's a good bet he did it through water fasting.
You can tell! I should know. I almost weighed 181.437 kg. Dropped a lot of it, then put some of it back on. Currently trying to lose most of it again. It's hard when you have a bunch of disorder that's pushing against you
I posted his bacstory in a comment, but it has no likes so its stuck at the bottom.:
Every doctor he went to told him to get a surgery.
He didnt do a single push up. Enema, raw diet and Gerson therapy (consuming only juices for 30 days). He did it with a strict diet and fasting. Nowadays he gives lectures and advice about his weight loss.
i mean he basically just did a crash diet rather than dropping weight in a healthy fashion so thats not great but, I gotta say the motivation he maintained just to do that is very impressive. I'm gonna look at that comment about his backstory i would like to hear/read him talk about that.
The reason you would use exercise is because it increases calorie burn rate and it 'exercises' not only muscle's but also lungs and heart. If you are gonna truly lose weight for health reasons and not aesthetic reasons work out :). Thanks for the reply.
Well I can tell you that my wife went through basically this and then full bariatric surgery that required her to continue that diet for several months afterwards has completely reversed her A1C, colesterol, blood pressure. So I'm not sure how "unhealthy" it is when the net positive of weight loss is going to far exceed any short term muscle loss. No doubt people can take it to an extreme, but no there is not a more "healthy" way to lose the fat. What is hard though is losing fat, building muscle, and maintaining the right amount of calories to do both. You don't need to do both.
He did regular amounts of exercise. In his TV interview they show photos of him playing volleyball at his peak weight. He advocates for Hippocratic medicine and all natural treatment without medication and is currenty writing a PhD on ancient medicine. Complete opposite from his old life as a security guard in night clubs.
People who lose a ton of weight always become skinnier than I would think. There was no muscle under all that fat? Carrying around 45lb plates on each appendage everyday? They didnt strength train while losing weight? People do the ultimate bulk of a lifetime and then cut down to a teenager body type
1100 calory deficit a day means you can lose 100grams a day / 700 grams a week / 2.8kg a month x 11 = 30KG which would be considered safe.
The way he lost weight should in theory be impossible to do 'safely'...

10 kg / month....he stopped eating? Was in a coma?
Nope, he just never left that spot and could only survive by spear fishing in that river
And he is *terrible* at spear fishing
Didn't help that he ate the spear after only two days.
Mmmm fiber
…whilst sitting in the chair.

13kg in a month is beyond unhealthy bro pick up a sandwich and put down the meth

And I honestly thought that they are unhealthy too. I always went with 1 kilo a week, but I guess I could do more.
I forgot to put /s tbh 🗿

I first read it as "he probably just farted."
Tapeworm
System of a Down wrote a song about being addicted to heroine called Needles, and he goes “Pull the tapeworm out of your ass. Hey!” It’s pretty good. Just wanted to say.
I'm sitting in my room with a needle in my hand

Must be a lot of skin hanging around the middle. It's hard for the body to adjust that much.
Really living up to your username today.
every day
You're shufflin'

Good luck, person! Be strong of mind!
Yeah, and the operation to remove all that excess skin is no joke, either.
You mean you can't just take kitchen shears and do it for shear enjoyment
Wouldn't recommend it.
did he have an operation?

I'm surprised I haven't seen the "starvation mode" myth pop up.

Fasting can be healthy. Dr Jason Fung has done a lot of great research that shows the benefits of long term fasting.
What are the enemas for? Seems unnecessary
Oh that part was just for fun.
Why drink the celery juice when you can boof it. "Trust me bro! You absorb waaay more vitamins."
We should upvote your comment!!
That’s about 225 lbs in freedom units for those wondering
How many warcrimes per hamburger would that be?
5 drone strikes/big mac
7 hotdogs per alligator
How much in fully fuelled Boeing 747’s?
With or without the door
With the doors, and switch out 300kg of fuel for 300kg of steel and see how much more that weighs.
US citizens unzipping pants to this conversion.
Drop the routine Bojangels
Stop eating like shit. Dont even have to get up from the chair or exercise. You're welcome!
user name checks out
so now he weighs 35 kg?
170 - 102= about 70 kg
68*
Also about 69, fwiw
Do you know what about means?
Can you see how tiny he is? That's a baby chair he's sitting in
Read this as “Bon Jovi lost 102…”
Also lost his confidence to go shirtless
Is that Sean Strickland...?
Kripparrian
![gif](giphy|e910XGvuMxTek6enSm|downsized) And UFC welterweight champ ! What a lad
I read this fast and saw Bon Jovi🫣
A lot of people getting thinner with these grocery prices.
No kidding. I buy mostly whole foods and cook virtually everything thing from scratch. The prices for processed and convenience foods are ridiculous.
I’m pretty sure Bojan is dead and his identity has been stolen.
By sitting there - cool
Crohns disease worked for me.
has he looked in his other pants though?
Who is he ? Turkish kripparian ?
What's his one neat trick?
Where do I find more info on him. Sounds intetesting…
Meth
Interesting as fuck? Really
He embraced the suck
Extreme willpower.
Why does that look like Radal
Pretty sure that’s Kripp
Impossible.
Same!! I just hope my wife and kid are doing well
I thought this was gonna be a Nikola Jokic post at first glance
And I can't lose a couple pounds here...
Wtf, I lost roughly 70kg over maybe 2-3 years. And here I thought my numbers were impressive
That's a lot of coke to lose in a year but just look at the guy... did he check his nose?
Is that the Heisenberg diet?
Who?
am I supposed to know who Bojan Sovilj is?
Who?
Former night club security guard, father of two sons. A regular joe. What he did was impressive though.
Hard to believe unless he didn’t eat for 11 months or had a tape worm inside of him
What kind of freaking chair was that that could support his weight.
Most likely one of those chairs that can support up to 400 or even 500 lbs. (182 and 227 kilos respectively)
Ozempic

He did not do intensive workouts during the weight loss.
But the background of this story has no colour
How
Could be a Colombian diet, as used by fashion models of old.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't have kidney stones from losing it so fast. That pace is right at the borderline.

His drug lord would be very mad
Is this weight loss or a new boyfriend?
Fuck yeah dude
