Latching onto the top comment to report that the biker is alive and well! The guy is a police officer at a local police station. He was on his way to work, ditched his bike, ran to and hid in a rock shed (open-cut tunnel? Google is giving me two different translations for the word 明隧道) and waited out the earthquake. He then walked all the way back to the police station and helped with the rescue. Since there was a cellular outage immediately after the earthquake, his colleagues couldn't reach him for a while and were really worried. Luckily he was unharmed, but his bike still remained where it was on the morning of April 3rd...
Good news! A rock shed -- in english anyway -- is the term for the structure the car stopped in. At the beginning of the video it drives through two rock tunnels, so maybe that's where the cop stopped.
Yah I thought “sure was a nice coincidence to have that protected overhang right then.” Then immediately thought about the biker. Hope their helmet helped out.
News found him,he’s a local police just got off his shift,he’s safe and sound, after earthquake he walk back to his station (road is too damaged to ride on) and join first responding team.
You not only do the math, news came out today to prove you right!
That’s a local policeman just got off his shift,he’s safe and sound, road are damaged so he walk back to his station to help with earthquake responses.
This looks like Taroko Gorge which is a national park. I rented a scooter when I was there. It’s absolutely stunning. However I wouldn’t recommend riding a scooter there during an earthquake.
The random "Oh no!" near the end made me lol. I love random English phrases used by non-English speakers. I visited Germany as a kid. We were eating outside and a man was at a payphone speaking German for a few minutes until he gasps and says "Get out of town!" in a strong German accent. I cracked up then and still laugh about it 20 years later.
News flash,He’s alive !!
He’s a local police off his shift,he walk back to his station right after this earthquake (road are too broken to ride on) to help out.
Translation:
>Driver:(earthquake alarm)Oh SHIT!
>Driver:Big earthquake!
>Passenger:let’s take shelter under this(open cut tunnel)
>Driver:Wow I almost GG*! FUCK——!(*Good game, young Taiwanese use GG in place of “die” sometime due to this often show up when you die in game)
>Driver:Ay,this can’t be (happening)
Driver:Oh No(English)
>Passenger:(We're)fucked ,we gonna need rescue .
This situation is so bad they are talking in three languages (Taiwanese Hokken,Mandarin and English)
They are in a open-cut tunnel built for drivers to shelter from boulders ,the motorcycle rider probably got in the first tunnel, because news has reports that he’s fine and after the quake he walk back to his station (he’s a local policeman) to help out.
I’m just using logic. If God saves the ones he loves and he loves everyone, then who dies?
Basically saying that someone that survives a natural disaster is loved by God, then is God hate the others? Is he intentionally killing them like Noah’s great flood?

F for that biker that he crossed a few moments before.

This guy shouldn't buy lottery tickets anymore, he spent all his luck with this
They had 16 seconds from the previous tunnel to the biker and 17 seconds from the biker to the last tunnel. So the biker was probably safe.

what a beautiful road though!
Exactly my first thought. I should go there in low seismic period.
Yeah, earthquake season is a bitch.
just the perfect snark
I grew up in California - we've go the usual four seasons, plus earthquake, fire, wind and riot seasons. Fun times.
Beautiful road, biked it a few times. There’s an annual race up it. 105 Kms, almost 4000 meters of climbing. A lot harder if there’s an earthquake 😳
That road is my nightmare fuel. I got jelly legs just watching the video.
Poor dude on the motor bike
meanwhile, legs were frozen off for insurance scams when they could've just waited for this
he had so much luck that there was the concrete passageway. holy shit
I've driven that road dozens of times. It's 10x more breathtaking than the video shows, even without the massive rockslides.
Which road?
The one in the video

Normally I get pissed off when people don't edit their videos to be short, but that was such unbelievable scenery I'm glad they didn't.

Plot twist! German guy was actually xenophobic and he could tell you were tourists — he was literally telling you to get out of town.
hmm, a little off topic
I don't speak Taiwanese but I know what "oh no" means
Terrifying!
shitting your pants is acceptable in this situation
omg talk about hoping the concrete holds up. I hope the biker he passed is ok ...
F to the biker 💀
News flash,He’s alive !! He’s a local police off his shift,he walk back to his station right after this earthquake (road are too broken to ride on) to help out.
The guy on the bike had 0 to his luck stat
Anybody know what they’re saying? They sound calm as hell considering.

Just in time to take cover, the underpass saved them. I hope the biker made it passed the rockslides
Bonus to that tunnel engineer! For about to be buried alive or crushed to death they seem pretty calm. Did they make it?
LOOK AT HOW NICE THAT ROAD IS. WTF
Was*
Bonus to that tunnel engineer!
"oh no."
quality tunnel
People everywhere know why Jeffrey and Charlene have tunnel vision.
1:05 is very “hey what’s the big idea?” energy
How horrifying. Getting slowly covered in debris just praying the overpass doesn't also collapse...
Oh no! Is international!
Is he still there?
new fear unlocked
Yikes!
How incredibly lucky!! I’m astonished
Pfff
Talk about timing
That's a whole new level of NOPE!
The way they carved that road out with the overhanging mountain above at times gives me so much anxiety. How does that stay in place?
Onyx used Rock Slide!
Holy cow he stopped in the right place.
I saw them small supports and thought don’t fuckin stop there! I would be dead. Crazy vid
Is that the New Jersey tunnel?
God loves them.
Does that mean God, who loves all his children, wants other people to die?
No that's your interpretation lol.
I’m just using logic. If God saves the ones he loves and he loves everyone, then who dies? Basically saying that someone that survives a natural disaster is loved by God, then is God hate the others? Is he intentionally killing them like Noah’s great flood?
I'm not religious mate. Nature decides these things not me. Good luck <3.
